It seems as though it's based on the "principles of federal overeach" as I was confused myself since our law already makes an exception for when lives are in danger, but our expert attorney geneneral who has a slew of scandals himself had this to say

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, in a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, argued that federal law does not confer a right to an abortion.

So they aren't even fighting bc Texas has to now provide abortions, but if they win and the order is deemed unconstitutional that would mean other states that don't have any exceptions would now also not have to provide life saving Healthcare....because Texas sued on principle

If it’s a principal thing and Texas already has an exemption for the life of the mother then I feel better about the sanity of Texas politicians but holy fuck I don’t know if this is the one but I also at the same time understand that argument it’s just fucking weird.

Pro lifers would probably say it is but a lawsuit over a federal guideline that wouldn’t even affect your state? Weird.

The other scenario I can think of is that Biden's order does include more than your bare minimum "don't let pregnant women die on purpose" but otherwise, it's probably just political grandstanding if the order changes nothing based on Texas's law. And very dangerous considering it could cause women to legally be allowed to die in other states for the select few that don't have exceptions (its not many which is why Bidens EO felt like pandering as well, but if it stops those states from being that archaic then it was still a good move
