Roe and marriage were settled law. Nothing could be done from any elected politician about them. It wasn’t until this year Roe had a chance of being overturned. So NOW anti-abortion talk holds more weight because once that goes, they have power to do something. But, that’s more local level because Roe overturning means only states get a day so no federal politicians would mean much. You’d need to be more careful with local elections. I don’t believe gay marriage is going anywhere, though. Federally, state or SC. There are more equally protections the SC can turn to where as abortion was kinda plucked from nowhere in the privacy clause. I don’t think they’d attempt it. As for gun laws, it’s a bit different. There isn’t a ruling saying from the SC barring anything but single possession of handguns so a state Governor can pass State bans and a senator can help pass federal laws. Now of course they’d still need 60 in the senate so Texas could theoretically elect a senator with gun control policies if they have faith in other states to retain their red seats, but Governor is a bigger deal.

See this is why I want to know people's specific beliefs and where they draw lines lol it's the only way I can understand people's thought processes nowadays when everything is pushed to one side or another, it's not to GOTCHA or anything like you said when I was asking about the AKs but it's hard to converse without knowing actual beliefs or when you're just being pragmatic. Me drilling down into your beliefs when you post something isn't to make you look bad or show youre some kind of hypocrite, it's just to understand your thought process

What it comes down to, is that it appears in the case of anti-abortion / gay marriage / LGBTQ vs gun legislature, Smark will always prioritize the rights of targeted people over guns, because gun legislation can be reversed at a later date, but rights of people must always be upheld no matter what, so an anti-2A Moderate Democrat to Smark is better than a hard right Republican.

More or less accurate. Social issues moving forward is a bigger issue and honestly speaking isn’t likely to actually go completely backwards, imo.

Which I suppose in a semantics argument is pitting it against 2A, but not really.

I personally don't really see 2A as important as other rights guaranteed by the constitution, such as the 1st, 3rd, 4th, or 5th, among others.

But that's a matter of perspective.
