I believe Sky is a Scot in which case wishing death on Her Royal Highness, Her Majesty The Queen is entirely understandable :)

I agree with the abolishment of the monarchy 100%. But I don't feel the need to wish death on her. I mean the old bitch isn't gonna live forever now...

I'm a staunch British republican - in the sense that I think the Monarchy, merit by bloodlines etc. is a very backwards idea and should be abolished. But I still hope she recovers and doesn't suffer.

The Monarchy is really more of a symbolic position these days and barely has any power. They may be the "Head of state," but they have virtually no power in Parliament. The Prime Minister acts as the "Head of government." The only thing the Queen really does is give bills royal ascent in the UK (and a lot of former Commonwealth countries we have a Governor General who acts on behalf of the Queen to do to the same and the GG usually acts on terms and stays no matter what party gets elected). However, what it does practically do is allow a separation of power and occasionally keeps the government in check. So if Boris Johnson or Trudeau, or any PM in a country with a Parliamentary system decides to pass a bill saying "I am the all mighty dictator for life," without Royal Ascent, the bill is not law. Although usually they partake in non-interference and the few times it has happened have caused controversy, see the King-Byng affair in Canada. Also, because they act symbolically, they can act as an ambassador, developing relationships with other countries and attend ceremonies as a representative of the government if you will.

It's archaic, but it technically has somewhat of a functional role, although one that technically can be filled by a non-Monarch if you will.

He knows, it's just that he isn't sarcastic saying that. It sounds like he wants change from the monarchy style of government.

I've gotten to know quite a few Scots in my time, from school days to a full grown adult... and the one thing they all share is an absoulte hatred for the Monarchy.

I'm not a History buff. I don't know the precise reasons for the hate. But I know just from hearing tin person he rage Scots have for the monarchy that it's totally justified.

I'm sure @Sky could fill you in on the history between the English and the Scottish better than I ever could.

I'm not saying Scots hate all English people, I'm not saying that The Queens nationality is the reason for wishing death upon her. I'm just saying that the hatred they have for The Queen is entirely reasonable to me.
