My girlfriend and I have had some deep discussions lately and have discussed getting her birth control. We can go down to the health department and get them for free but we just aren't sure yet. I'm 16 and she's 15 but we don't want to take a risk in getting her sick from it. Of course, we don't want to risk her getting pregonant either

Have you had any experience with it?

What's your opinion on the pill?

I was in the same situation when I was your age a high percentage of the population who take the pill experiance no side effects. However it is up to your girlfriend to do more research, maybe go and see a doctor to talk about it or any of her friends who are on it, either way it has to be something she is comfortable taking.

I am currently on the birth control pill. It works fine but it's a matter of finding the right pill for you. I started off with a pill that messed up my system and my mood but once I changed brand, I felt a lot better. I suggest that your girlfriend talks about it with her family doctor before she makes a decision. Also, tell her to read up on the different brands as well and if she sees that a pill is not working for her after 3 months, she should switch brand.

I hope that helps!

You dont want her to get sick from the pill?

Would you rather she had morning sickness in a few weeks?

She can't really talk to a doctor though as we would be keeping this a secret from our families.

Hmmm well I highly suggest you do that. It's not wise to buy any brand. If she gets migraines often, per se, there are certain brands that she cannot take and her doctor would be the right person to recommend her the right pill.. If you don't feel comfortable doing that then I suggest just using a condom.
