Penalty for McDowell! WOW!

Obviously, Chase isn't in a great spot, but I will say that he's a great driver who excels on road courses and has absolutely nothing to lose. In a sense, he's playing with house money.

Maybe next year he won’t be dumb and do something to get himself hurt. He would definitely be comfortably in if he didn’t get himself hurt snowboarding, and would be closer if the stuff with Denny didn’t happen also that had him suspended a week.

Good news for McDowell is that it's early in the race. Better to have that penalty now than with 20 laps to go. lol

Eh, I can't even bash him for snowboarding. The NASCAR off-season is the shortest in pro sports when you figure in how much time they spend in the off-season doing testing, sim work, and fulfilling sponsor obligations. Just bad luck for him this year on getting hurt.

People on TwitterX complaining “it was empty boxes.” Well yeah, I don’t think you can go through a box with people in it. Rules are still rules, he did it to himself

Yep. I guess the argument is that he went through one pit box that isn't being used in the race, but that doesn't really matter. The road course rule is that you can only pass through three pit boxes. It doesn't specify that the pit boxes have to be in use for the race.

For real! I've been hearing she's due any day now for weeks. That kid is gonna come out walking at this rate.
