Nah. This is just how NASCAR has always worked. Back in his early days, everybody hated Dale Sr. He was the young cocky guy who beat their old guys. Before him, people hated Darrell Waltrip. I grew up when everybody hated Jeff Gordon because he was beating Dale and that generation. Kyles now on the older side of things, and people transition into appreciating his talent more than hating him.

Could be that as well. Just weird it happened as soon as he jumps to Chevy. Cause they are plenty of fans who just straight up hate Toyota. Saying how it doesn’t belong in the sport and all this. Might be a mix of both as well. I know one guy who’s on the racing forum I’m on, definitely became a Kyle fan this season off him leaving JGR. Went from shit talking him last season, to celebrating wins by him.

Oh I’m sure there are some in that camp. I just think the ones who make up a crowd loud enough to be heard on TV are the ones doing what NASCAR fans do: hate the young successful guy until he becomes an older successful guy.
