Seen a lot of people talking about the rain tires. But like that doesn’t work when there is standing water on the track. Cars would hydroplane.

Yea, rain tires aren’t helping on what was going on this morning. Clearly, the walls blocking the drainage was a design flaw, but hindsight is 20/20. Hopefully they learn and make some changes and try this again next year. I’m cautiously optimistic about the cup race happening, but I could see it being shortened.

I just read on BR that they’re expecting rain in the Chicago area til 6 PM local time. Nascar just can’t catch a break with this whole weekend. They’ve cancelled all the concerts that were planned because the field is underwater.

Drivers have been told to return to their haulers. Officials say the track is in worse shape than it’s been in at any point today. Flash flood warning in effect for the area.

I really just don’t think the race is gonna happen. Just gonna have a 25 race regular season if I was guessing. I don’t think they can keep the streets shut down tomorrow.

Looking like the rain is going to keep going for a couple more hours.

IF.....IF they can't race today and can't keep the streets shut down for in the morning to do the race then maybe they can do a make up race someplace else at some point later in the year...? Like at Pocono. Surely they thought about this scenario happening because it's not like it's rare for a race on an oval to get delayed to another day. Usually happens every year. Id hate for this race to be canceled. Was looking forward to seeing how this played out between the cup regulars and the outside drivers. lol

Sucks that the Xfinity Series race ended the way it did. Although I guess the bright spot is that Custer already had a win. So it's not like this win got him in to the playoffs.

Reportedly NASCAR has an agreement in place with the city of Chicago in case this happened, but I can’t find the details about it. If any of you have Twitter (I don’t) and can access Bob Pockrass’ tweets, I hear that he’s posted something about it.

So there is a chance that they could postpone this Chicago race for another day if they had to but NASCAR would have to pay more to do it, if I am understanding that right.
