And you're continually twisting the narrative to fit the view you want it. Deferring money isn't the problem, it's the total of the contract that's the issue that causes deferral to be a problem.

I said it’s more than just his contract. But you’re reading what you wanna read, so I’m not gonna go back and forth with you. Have a good day.
but.... they didn't spend $1B in free agency. They have contracts that over the length of the deal are at that number but they haven't SPENT that money. They still have it and will use that money to make MORE money. Sorry these teams understand how to use their money to make more money while other teams sit on their money.

But we disagree, it's cool. I'm pro-league parity and you're anti-league parity. It's as simple as that.

Funny thing is here. You get upset at how Jeff acts sometimes, and here you go acting like just that.

Oh I'm definitely in favor of parity, I just hate when people suck off owners all the time like you've been doing. You want a salary cap to keep wages down so owners can spend less money (literally that's what salary caps have been proven to do) and I want players to get paid.

Oh I get it. He and I are 2 sides of the same coin which is why we can get along fine then we'd want to kill each other at others.

I'm sorry if I'm sounding angry or anything. I am just rather passionate about this issue as it's a weird bias where poors like us love billionaires but hate the millionaires.

While the amount of money that’s spent on free agents has always been egregious(and I’m a Yankees fan so I’ll cope to my team doing it) it doesn’t always guarantee a Championship.

Look at the Tampa Rays, they aren’t a huge market but they’re constantly in the mix because they have one of the best scouting and developmental systems in the game.

Hell the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers were just in the World Series.

Yes spending $1 billion on two players is kind of wild but it doesn’t mean the Dodgers are going to be winning a title

All of this is absolutely true.

- Spending to oblivion, mainly from big market cities, won't guarantee you a title. The Padres are an example. They spent tons of money on Machado, Soto and Tatis and still had mediocre records for two straight seasons, no offense Jimmy King. Plus, it's consecutive seasons that the Dodgers were eliminated in the NLDS, despite winning 100 or more games. The Dodgers may do everything they possibly can to win a title for the next 10+ seasons, but history can repeat itself by getting an early exit in the playoffs.

- Seeing two underdog teams like the Diamondbacks and Rangers was a breath of fresh air, though it was one of the least watched World Series in television history. I always love to see underdogs make it to the World Series.

This is true for sure. It’s why I laugh when they lose. It’s like all that money spent, and no ring to show for it. It’s why I’m glad the Braves aren’t over the top spenders. Though I feel they might have to pay a pretty penny to keep Ronald when his deal is up, because when they lose in the playoffs at least they didn’t spend a shit ton of money to lose lol

Please show me where these owners couldn't afford Ohtani's contract? Please show me which one. The answer is all of them could easily afford it. The owners CHOOSE not to. It's as simple as that.

The Kansas City Royals could not afford Ohtani's contract. I dont care how much the owner makes or brings in. His net worth alone is irrelevant to how finances in baseball work.

Only because the fans (and MLB to a certain extent) wanted the Astros and Phillies to have a repeat of last year's series. Can't always get what you want.

I don't think the fans wanted to see a rematch of that Astros of Phillies in the World Series, especially with the Astros won the series 4-2. Who the fuck wants to watch that again?

I mean yeah, the the way the Phils handled the Braves in the NLDS for two straight seasons, they beat us fair in square. They had a fair shot of getting back at it. But unfortunately, the Diamondbacks stuns them in 7 games. It was an entirely surprising matchup with them and the Rangers, which both teams won 90 games or under.

I admit the matchup was disappointing because the series didn't went to five games, which was the reason it had shitty viewership. I wish it could've been better.

In defence of the Padres they had a good 2022, hell they made the NLCS and beat the Dodgers in the NLDS. It was just this past year they couldn’t put it together until the end of the year when it was too late.
