oh I agree about a minimum to an extent. Should be low but there should be one.

Yamamoto (Japan), Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger and Jordan Montgomery are the next crop of top free agents.

And my Tigers have no shot in hell in any of them lol.

And I guess the argument for a cap of a max is to "balance" things in regards to market size. Since large markets have a major advantage in spending capital, so while yes, players can earn what they want, it also becomes discouraging as a fan if a team can pay a handful of big free agent players double a team's entire payroll if they want.

Who's fault is it that some teams don't spend money? Not the players fault and damn sure not the fans fault. The only people to be blamed are the owners. Every owner can afford the free agent deals players are signing, even Ohtani. They choose not to.

To a degree, I get it. But also there is more that goes into paying for a team than just salaries. This is the approx value of each MLB team. As you can see there's some really low teams, a bunch in the middle, then we get some spiking with the top two big market teams/teams with history with teams who are almost always contenders, on top. A min, I agree. Even if a team is outright tanking, you still should have to at least TRY to spend something, but a cap of some kind, even if it is high, may ease the feeling of small market teams having an uphill battle when it comes to signing free agents.

I speak for everyone with the News on Yamamoto to the Dodgers apparently fuck the Dodgers to the highest of levels. They have seemly an Ace Pitcher now because God knows their Rotation is terrible going into the Season. The Offense outside of the Top 4 or so is trash and hopefully the Teams with more of a balanced with their Offense and their Pitching Staff/Bullpen shows them up when it matters.

Except it doesn't. It just keeps teams from hoarding giant contracts, bruh. They can get fat ass contracts elsewhere. Big Market Teams already have a massive advantage when it comes to giving out contracts like they're candy while smaller market teams are forced to have to scout and create home-grown talent and hope that these players don't go out to free agency and sign with other big market teams.

The MLB especially makes it so playing in a small market is a disadvantage.

Yep, when the Dodgers can pay upwards of $1 Billion alone on contracts, the league needs to step in and make it so these teams can't just buy out the best players.
