The Official 2024 College Football Regular Season Discussion Thread

Coastal Carolina has been really coming up in recent years. There are a lot of talented high school players in NC, SC, and GA to recruit, so it isn't surprising. Hopefully they will join a larger conference in the future and get more of a challenge. I would love to see them in the ACC. I think they could be competitive in the ACC. If the Big East still did Division I football, it would have been a perfect fit.

Anyone else thinking the Big XII is going to dissolve soon too? I could see us only having 4 Major conferences soon.

I can see pros and cons of it. The biggest pro would be an argument for an extended playoff season. Could even go to a conference playoff, like Georgia High School did in the late 80s early 90s. Four teams played in a region playoff and the two winning teams went to the State Playoffs. Four conferences could give us 2 to 4 teams for a playoff scenario. However, the NCAA would have to factor in Independents or smaller conferences who produce a really good team (Like TCU, Utah, and Boise St of the 2010s or Tulane and Marshallof the 1990s). BYU won a National title when they were in a non major conference (they may have even been Independent) so it's possible.

A big con would be if there are so many teams in a conference you may have to play more conference games, thus possibly losing huge non conference rivalry games.

I like Texas Texh. Whenever I played NCAA Football on my PS2 back in the day, they were the team I choose. Love their uniforms and name. I remember that one good year they had in the mid 2000s and that was an exciting year.

Easy day at the Office for Penn State today vs Nova. Sucks I love Nova with them being my favorite Basketball team in College maybe one day they become a place with some talent actually comes them and they are competitive.
