Kentucky should've waited after the tournament was over to find and hire a better candidate than Mark Pope. I mean, winning 20+ games 4 out of 5 seasons isn't bad, but doesn't go far in the tournament and it leaves a big question mark whether Pope can go beyond the Round of 64 at the school. We'll find out starting this fall how he does in his first season.

Virginia men’s basketball coach Tony Bennett is retiring effective immediately, the school announced on Thursday.

Bennett, 55, went 433-169 in his 18-year career and 364-136 in 15 seasons with the Cavaliers and led them to the 2019 national championship. He will address the public in a news conference on Friday morning.

Under Bennett, Virginia won six ACC regular season titles and two ACC conference tournament championships. The Cavaliers made 10 trips to the NCAA Tournament under Bennett’s watch, and he earned ACC Coach of the Year honors four times. Bennett, who was a three-time national coach of the year, led Virginia to a school-record 35 wins in the Cavaliers’ 2018-19 national title season.

Bennett’s teams were known for their defensive prowess: his teams have ranked in the top five nationally in scoring defense 11 times. Virginia led the nation in scoring defense six times under Bennett.
