There is a video of Joey defending the format at the post race press thing. Obviously he loves it because he is winning championships but it does need to be changed. Everyone who defends it always says "It produces drama" and "other sports have playoffs" and they completely ignore that it doesn't produce a champion who has been good throughout the whole season. Playoffs in other sports consistently do but those sports are completely different. In those sports teams play against others one by one while in NASCAR race teams race each other at the same time the whole season. Non playoff teams being a factor, depending on a mechanical race machine while other sports just play with balls.
I bet that they will consider changing the last track of the season BEFORE changing the format.
I don't dislike Joey. Happy for him that he won another championship but overall ill never be a fan of this format. I don't feel like one of the best performing drivers for the season won. On the pre show they kept talking about Joey possibly joining other legends in history of the sport if he won... but I can't help but to think that most of those other 3 time champs were good at more than just 3 or 4 races of the year because the format during their time required it.
