Re: The New Deluxe CHIKARA Thread

Dismiss my previous hunch, because Pieces Of Hate have been added to the four corner elimination match. Updated card with just over a week to go:

The Spectral Envoy vs. Die Bruderschaft des Kreuzes
Archibald Peck vs. Jimmy Jacobs
The Batiri vs. Sinn Bodhi & his Odditorium
Four Corner Elimination Tag Team Match: Scott Parker and Shane Matthews vs. 17 and deviANT vs. Jigsaw and The Shard vs. ???
Grand Championship Match: Eddie Kingston © vs. Icarus

Two more matches plus the last participants of the tag match to be added.

The title and theme song pretty much say it all. Fun and cool little video.

Re: The New Deluxe CHIKARA Thread

Former Grand Champion Eddie Kingston will face kinda leader of The Flood Jimmy Jacobs the evening of June 21st at Diamonds are Forever. Very unexpected and interesting first post-title reign match for Kingston. The Batiri will be in tag action against Sinn Bodhi's Odditorium of Oliver Grimsly & Qefka the Quiet that evening as well.

As for the other event that day, Quantum of Solace, so far we have The Spectral Envoy taking on The Wrecking Crew (Max Smashmaster/Blaster McMassive/Oleg the Usurper) and DeviANT vs Worker Ant!

Re: The New Deluxe CHIKARA Thread

Quantum Of Solace Results

Dasher Hatfield/Mr. Touchdown def Evan Gelistico/Gary the Barn Owl when Hatfield pins Gary after a double team.
- Throwbacks have three points for the Campeonatos

Tecinos including 3.0, Colony, Estonian Thunderfrog, and Jervis Cottenbelly out for a wacky segment.

Ophidian def Heidi Lovelace with O’Connor roll into a bridge
- no word on what happened with Jaka who was supposed to wrestle Ophidian

Out comes Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush. Quack thanks the fans and says “We are Chikara.”

Latvian Proud Oak/Lithuanian Snow Troll def Mr. Azerabijan/Prakash Sabar wins via roll-up.
- Rudo beatdown after the match.
Flags get thrown in the garbage. Estonian Thunderfrog comes out to check on his partners.

Worker Ant def deviANT with pumphandle into a knee in the face.

Pieces of Hate (Jigsaw/The Shard) def Arik Cannon/Darin Corbin with the Jig ‘n’ Tonic on Cannon

Proletariat Boar of Moldova def Estonian ThunderFrog with a spear
- there was a post match beat down but Baltic Siege makes the save

The Spectral Envoy def Devastation Corporation (No Max Smashmaster. Jaka as it turns is replacing him) when Mantis taps Oleg to the Chikara Special after some help from Blind Rage.

PWPonderings

Diamonds Are Forever Results

Chuck Taylor just said the Swamp Monster was dead
Expansion pack exclusive: Chuck Taylor pins Shynron with the Awful Waffle and threatens a small child on his way out.

Diamonds Are Forever main show
Jervis Cottonbelly/Marion Fontaine [Old Fashioned] def El Hijo del Ice Cream/Ice Cream, Jr. [Los Ice Creams] with double backslides

Max Smashmaster def Jojo Bravo with a moonsault

Blind Rage def mat Fitchett with a sit down splash mountain

Oliver Grimsly & Qefka the Quiet [The Odditorium] def Obariyon & Kodama [The Batiri] when the Batiri just got disqualified for beating up Grimsley too much

Juan Francisco de Coronado def Billy Roc

Fire Ant/Silver Ant [The Colony] def Orbit Adventure Ant/Missile Assault Ant [The Colony: Xtreme Force] when Silver Ant taps Orbit Adventure Ant to the Chikara Special

Jimmy Jacobs def Eddie Kingston with a spear
- Before the match, Jimmy Jacobs was not dressed to wrestle. He talks to Kingston about not really being a part of Chikara. Jacobs asked Kingston to join the Flood. Jacobs says Kingston will be fighting a war he can’t win. Jacobs mentions the person above him. Kingston attacked Jacobs and this lead into the match.
- At one point during the match, Jacobs tells Kingston he can help him win back “her” which most likely is referring to the CHIKARA Grand Championship

Archibald Peck & Shane Matthews & Scott Parker [3peck0] vs. Die Bruderschaft des Kreuzes ended in a DQ when the Odditorium interfered. The Batiri came out to help clear the ring. This leads to a 10 man tag main event

Archibald Peck & Shane Matthews & Scott Parker [3peck0] & The Batiri def Die Bruderschaft des Kreuzes & The Odditorium

PWPonderings

And here's the card for today's show (Goldfinger), although considering how many changes were made to the previous two shows, expect some here too

1) A Titanic 10-Man Main Event!
The Colony & The Batiri vs. The Flood

2) Tag Team Warfare!
Scott Parker & Shane Matthews [3.0] vs.
Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive [The Devastation Corporation]

3) The Gentlemen Duel!
Jervis Cottonbelly vs. “The Kentucky Gentleman” Chuck Taylor

4) First Time Ever!
Shynron vs. Eddie Kingston

5) Hard Hitting Action!
Estonian ThunderFrog vs. Jaka

6) Multiple-Man Mayhem!
The Spectral Envoy vs. GEKIDO

7) Only One Can Survive!
Dasher Hatfield & “Mr. Touchdown” Mark Angelosetti [The Throwbacks] vs.
Nøkken/Tursas [BDK] vs. Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin [AC/DC] vs.
Oliver Grimsly/Qefka the Quiet [The Odditorium]

Of course, with Max Smashmaster missing the previous night, we can only assume there will be some more card shuffling.

Re: The New Deluxe CHIKARA Thread

So 3 weeks from now, I attend my first CHIKARA event in Cardiff. Hype.

Card so far is:

Campeonatos de Parejas: The Devastation Corporation vs N_R_G

COTI: Battle Hive (Amasis & Fire Ant) vs. Nightmare Warriors (Participants unknown)

Not overly enthused by the championship match. DevCorp are cool, but NRG are green & feel like 3.0 lite. COTI match could be awesome though, the Nightmare Warriors team will be two from Hallowicked, Frightmare, Silver Ant & Blind Rage. Will be happy with any combo not involving Blind Rage tbh.

EDIT: just dig some digging, it's Frightmare & Blind Rage. 3 out of 4 ain't bad I guess.

I didn't seem to get much traction from the VIP crowd...

What are some shows anyone would recommend for someone looking to check out Chikara: overall and from this year? What's a good jumping off point?

I'll do it in reverse order. Best starting off point would be either:

"You Only Live Twice" from May 2014. CHIKARA's return following a years hiatus, pretty much as fresh a starting point as you could ask for.

or

"A New Start" from January 2015. The season 15 premiere, the beginning of the "Challenge Of The Immortals", and the first CHIKARA show since the end of the Flood angle, and effectively the whole takeover angle.

As far as good shows in general to watch, King Of Trios 2012 is pretty much the best 3 day event in CHIKARA history, so all of those are a good shout. "Hiding In Plain Sight" from 2010 is fantastic top to bottom & features possibly the best match in CHIKARA history (Daniel Bryan & Cesaro vs. Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw). In fact, look for "High Noon" too, as that has the other contender for best CHIKARA match ever (Mike Quackenbush vs. Eddie Kingston), plus it has the historic factor of being the first iPPV, the crowning of their first Grand Champion, the end of the BDK angle & some great action inbetween.

From this year, "Pier Pressure" is the only one I can recommend because it's the only CHIKARA show I've seen since "You Only Live Twice". Plus, you have the added bonus of me popping up in the audience throughout, what more could you ask for?

Excellent reply. I've already started downloading "A New Start" as it sounds like a great springboard into the current season. I heard some great things from the match between Eddie Kingston and the former Kid Cyclone. I might download "You Only Live Twice" as well and watch both to get into the product, if you recommend it? How much of the stories from before the "shut down" are brought up?

"In Plain Sight" has a match with Daniel Bryan and Cesaro on the same team? Count me in please. I'll definitely have to tweet and post my thoughts as I experience the sensation known as Chikara Pro. Especially this "King of Trios." I've always felt Six-Man tags we're underrated and there could be revival of them again. If you say it's the best three nights of Chikara, I'm all over it. Thank you.

I'll have to check out "Pier Pressure" to see our English Dave in action! Once I catch it, I'll leave comments on your article.
