Beer Money Inc. vs. LAX vs. Dudley Boys vs. Abyss and Blueprint Matt Morgan. Monster's Ball. Bound for Glory IV. Steve "Mongo" McMichael was the special guest referee. Homicide took a fork and carved it into D-Von's forehead. Dudleys took out the lighter fluid, set the table on fire, and power bombed Abyss through the flaming table! This is reminiscent of Dudleys powerbombing Balls Mahoney through a flaming table in ECW. Beer Money sneaks in and pins a fallen Abyss to retain their titles. McMichael made a hesitant slow-count.
Takeshi Morishima & Brian Danielson vs. Kenta & Nigel McGuinness. Respect is Earned. This is ROH's first pay-per-view and this was the main event. A few highlights of the match is Morishima missile dropkicks McGuinness but McGuinness recovers immediately and lariats Morishima. McGuinness puts his body on the line when he cross body-blocks Morishima outside the ring. He's injured and the trainers have to tape his left elbow.
Kenta taps out to Danielson's cattle mutilation. Morishima clothelines his own partner after the match is over.
Briscoe Brothers vs. Cesaro & Matt Sydal. Respect is Earned. Briscoes defend their ROH Tag team titles against the makeshift team of Cesaro and Sydal. They shake hands in a sign of sportsmanship to start the match. It's a high octane match as Sydal does a cannon-ball legdrop on Mark. Mark hits Matt Sydal with his karate chops. Cesaro does a fisherman's suplex on Jay. The end comes when The Briscoes finishes off Sydal with the springboard Doomsday Device.
Dave Prazak did a good job calling the moves of the match, not just saying "What a move by Jay!"
Craig Pittman vs. Alexander Karelin, '89 World Championships. Yeah, THAT Sergeant Craig Pittman from WCW. I didn't know he was an amateur wrestler, too.
Beer Money Inc. with Jacqueline vs. Motor City Machine Guns. Turning Point 2008. This was back-and-forth action for Beer Money's Tag team titles. Lots of athletic moves. Alex Shelley attempts a crucifx pin on Bobby Roode early on in the match. Beer Money executes a double-suplex on Shelley. Shelley does a suicide dive through the second rope on Roode outside the ring. Machine Guns performs a tower suplex on Roode.
Referee Rudy Charles is completely incompetent. It reminded me of the Seinfeld joke about Harlem Globetrotters referees being about as inept as wrestling refs. Jacqueline attacks Shelley outside the ring and Charles didn't see it. Jacqueline enters the ring to break-up a Motor City pin attempt. She actually distracted referee Rudy Charles for a good nineteen seconds to allow James Storm to spit beer in Chris Sabin's face.
Kurt Angle vs. Abyss in a Falls-Count-Anywhere Match. Turning Point 2008. Kurt was the star of this match as he executed a Swanton Bomb from the entrance ramp. Angle speared Abyss through a wall. In the ring, Angle moonsaulted on-top of a steel chair on a fallen Abyss for extra damage. Angle nails Abyss with a right-cross through a--What else is new--Spanish announcer's table.
Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett. Bound for Glory IV. For wrestlers who were past their prime, Jarrett and Angle put on a helluva match. Angle starts off with a side headlock on Jarrett. Jarrett reverses and clamps a side headlock on Kurt. Jeff executes a dropkick and cross body-block on Kurt. Jeff does the Big Bossman-style leg drop on Kurt across the second rope. He then does his Cowboy strut.
The two wrestlers exchange suplexes. Angle puts Jarrett in a belly-to-belly suplex. Jeff does a super-plex. Then Angle does a German suplex. When Angle picks up a chair from ringside, special enforcer Mick Foley grabs the chair away from him. This is surprising because Foley was supposed to be in Angle's corner.
Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle
Damn! If anyone else had landed on their head like that , that would have been the end of their career but the beast incarnate manages one more F5 since the shooting star press was supposed to be the end of the match
I love how the crowd just stare at Lesnar in stunned silence after the match
With out a doubt the greatest world title match ever at Mania
Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan, Wrestlemania VII. Slaughter's manager General Adnan distracts the referee while Slaughter had Hogan pinned for a good ten seconds! Normally, the manager distracts the ref when his man is losing the match, not winning. When Hogan pinned Slaughter with the atomic legdrop, Slaughter actually kicked out at the count of two.
