The Grievous Lucha Underground Season 1 Episode Overview

Taking the advice of some incredibly intelligent wrestling fans...and this forum is proof
that they actually exist...I've "acquired" the 1st season of Lucha Underground and will
be watching an episode a day for the next 38 days posting a small recap on each episode
as I go.

I ask all of you to avoid posting spoilers...but thoughts, comments, opinions or abuse
are always welcome...and with that said...

Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! And here I go...
(And no...it isn't the start of a Kalisto match)

Episode 1: Welcome to the Temple: (we got fun and games?)
~ The opening promo is pretty cool...I like the production values and the editing.
~ Oh Hey...its Matt Striker & Vampiro on commentary...Nice.
~ Man...that ring announcer is super-cute.
~ Dario Cueto seems more like a drug cartel member than a wrestling promoter.
~ Opening Match: Blue Demon Jr. vs...Oh Hey...Chavo Guerrero Jr...that's cool.
~ And now a promo segment with...Jesus...its Konnan. I remember watching him
back in WCW. I'm kind of shocked how many familiar faces I've seen so far.
~ Look...Look!!! Its Sexy Star...

*Sigh*

And a character building vignette...G...if only WWE would develop their talent in
the same way...may-be it would make their performers more interesting.

~ I love the reason/meaning behind her name...I just thought it was because...well...
she's a Sexy Star...lol

But...its an intergender match against Son Of Havoc...and...What?! Sexy Star
lost in a 92 second "squash" match...WTF?!

Well...at least she lasted longer than Lesnar did against Goldberg...No...
I'm never ever going to forget that.

~ A Dario Cueto/Chavo Guerrero segment...and its really well shot and acted. Nice...

~ The "Temple" arena has a great atmosphere but the ring seems kind of cheap...
reminds me of the ring they used in "The Final Deletion"

~ The crowd seems really into it...unlike TNA and some WWE crowds who I swear
come to the wrestling to take a nap.

~ And its time for the main event...Johnny Mundo (Morrison) vs. Prince Puma...
and the match has been really entertaining with a lot of great spots...and
Johnny Mundo gets the win.

~ And Dario Cueto doesn't hand over the money...and Mundo & Puma get beaten
down by 3 nameless guys...and the End.

All in All...it was really entertaining and I'm glad I decided to give the show a shot.

Episode 2: Los Demonios (So... the Demons?)

~ So we open with the group of heels from the last episode...and Johnny Mundo is
on the attack already...and here is Prince Puma...and now we have a tag team match
to open the episode.

~ Vampiro really doesn't like Konnan.

~ Prince Puma has some slick moves...and Mundo & Puma get the win. That was a
great opening match.

~ Konnan/Prince Puma segment...again its really well shot and acted.

~ Next up is a mixed tag match with Son of Havoc & Ivelisse vs. Chavo Guerrero &
Oh look look...its Sexy Star!!!

I can't believe I'm actually jealous of Chavo right now...I'd love Sexy Star to be my tag
partner...if you know what I mean...*Wink Wink Nudge Nudge*

And yes...I'd have her keep the mask on...lol

~ I have to admit the intergender wrestling is still hard for me to watch. I'm not saying
women can't hang with men...I just don't like seeing men "rough up" women...in wrestling,
movies and especially in real life.

~ And Chavo & Sexy get the win with Sexy pinning the Sons of Anarchy reject Son
of Havoc...Yay!

~ Woah...my Super-Hottie alert just sounded...Hello Catrina...you can lick my face if you want.

~ Another Prince Puma vignette narrated by Konnan...and its a great piece.

~ And the main event is Blue Demon Jr. vs. Mil Muertes...who has Catrina in his
corner. I'd have Catrina in my corner...if you know what I mean...*Wink Wink Nudge Nudge*
Wait...I think that came out wrong?

~ While the first episode for me seemed about familiar faces...this episode seemed more
about the ladies. Sexy Star, Ivelisse and Catrina all made an impact for me.

~ And Mil Muertes gets the win over Blue Demon Jr, a post match assault by Muertes...and
now Chavo to the rescue...and...Bang! Hey watch the chair shots to the head Chavo Jesus!
And now some Refs go down...some "jobbers" go down...Oh look look...Sexy Star is here...
Oh No...don't you dare Chavo...just calm down and...*Bang!* WHAT THE FUCK?! I'll kill you!!!

~ And the episode ends after Chavo's chair swinging rampage.
Wow...that was kind of a dark ending.

Highlights: Sexy Star getting the pin in her match, Catrina, Ivelisse and the slick moves of Prince Puma.

Lowlight: Chavo hitting Sexy Star in the head with a chair...seriously...WTF?!

All in All...an even better episode than the first...only now I want to see Chavo
broken into several pieces.

Last time on Lucha Underground...Chavo Guerrero hit my Mexican Bae Sexy Star in the
head with a chair and I got fucking pissed!

So that brings us to...

Episode 3: Crossing the Border (I want to make a Trump/Wall Joke...but I won't)

~ We open with a recap of episodes 1 & 2...including that awful chair shot which
has my blood boiling again...

~ We open with Konnan & Dario Cueto in that sleazy office set.

~ Cute ring announcer is Cute...

~ We now have Dario Cueto in the ring cutting a promo...and I will admit...the guy plays
the heel authority figure really well.

~ So the first match is El Mariachi Loco vs. Mascarita Sagrada...and Oh No...
~ So...we are having a "mini" fighting a "regular" luchador? I don't like the
the looks of this.

~ Its really amazing that its so fun watching a "mini" kick some ass...but I cringe when they
get hit by someone twice their size.
~ Nice...Mascarita Sagrada got the win...and here comes my least favorite person in the
world Chavo Guerrero who is now attacking a...a...Guys what's the correct term for Mascarita Sagrada?
Fuck it...so Chavo is attacking a person half his size...great. I think I've found the guy who could get
Roman Reigns over.

~ Another recap? Stop showing me that chair shot!!!

~ Now an interview with Chavo Guerrero...and its really well shot and edited.

~ Really liking the production values of this show.

~ Wow...now a Konnan/Chavo segment...and there is Catrina...Ewww...she licked Chavo...Gross!

~ The second match is Ricky Mandel vs. Mil Muertes (with the lovely Catrina)...
~ Now a Mil Muertes promo narrated by Catrina...loving these vignettes.
~ Nice spear by Mil Muertes...that was some impact...
~ Matt Striker thinks like I do when it comes to Catrina...lol
~ And Mil Muertes gets the win with...the End of Days? Huh? And Catrina licks
Ricky Mandel...I'm sorry...but the more guys she licks the more unattractive she
gets...of course if she licks Sexy Star then all is forgiven...lol

~ And another backstage promo with Johnny Mundo beating on the Goon Squad
and a set up for next weeks main event with Dario Cueto.

~ Wow...another Prince Puma vignette...they are "pushing" this guy and he deserves it.
He has mad skills.

~ And a Triple Threat main event...Drago (Nice Outfit) vs. Pentagon Jr. vs. Fenix...
Wow...I can just tell this is going to be a good match.
~ Man...loving the look Pentagon Jr. is rocking...

~ Holy Shit...these guys are flying all over the place...
~ And Fenix gets the win in an incredible match...that was so much fun to watch.

Highlights: The Triple Threat Main Event...Just Amazing.

Lowlight: No Sexy Star...Damn you Chavo!!!

All in All...a fantastic episode with the show clearly building momentum.

The first season was amazing. Glad you're enjoying it and I'm glad you dig Puma, Pentagon, Mil and Fenix.

They were involved in some pretty great stuff in season 1.

It's cool to see a newcomer seeing all these awesome dudes. Puma! And Mil! And Fenix! Yay!!!! Hell even respecting Mil with someone so.. distracting next to him all the time haha.

Episode 4: Thrill of the Hunt (So...are we getting a Predator Cameo?)

~ Wow...a live band and the temple is packed tonight...

~ Oh look look...its Sexy Star!!!

Well...I'm glad I'm getting my fix...I missed her last episode.
~ Nice promo by Sexy Star and I really hope she does kick Chavo's ass...
using a chair...and his ass is his head...and I'm very glad for the subtitles.
~ And the opening match is Sexy Star vs. Ivelisse...finally...a match I can watch
without cringe moments.
~ Ivelisse cuts a promo and she's pretty good on the mic...she plays the bitch well.
~ Those ring steps are really cheap looking.
~ WWE should really take a lesson from Luncha Underground as far as the camera work and camera angles go.

~ Ivelisse is using the "Yes Kicks"

~ Code Breaker by Sexy! Nice!
~ And Sexy Star gets the win...Yay! Oh...did you see that...she blew me a kiss!

~ Drago/Dario Cueto backstage segment...very nice.

~ Oh sweet...Pentagon Jr. is in the ring...and seriously...this guy has a great look. Zero Fear indeed...
~ Pentagon Jr. vs. Fenix...well...if last episode was anything to go by...this should be electric.

~ Fenix can really skip on those ropes...amazing skills.
~ The crowd really does add so much atmosphere to this show...although I understand that it
is heavily edited for television.
~ Wow...Fenix gets the win...I hope he has an eventual match with Prince Puma.

~ A King Cuerno vignette...Nice...

~ Cute ring announcer is Cute...

~ Drago is in the ring...Nice Gwar reference by Matt Striker...
~ So now we have Drago vs. King Cuerno...and he's wearing a deer head hat...that's interesting...
~ And clearly the LU refs are tougher than the WWE refs...lol
~ And Drago gets the win...another solid match.

~ Another Konnan/Puma backstage segment...

~ And the main event is Big Ryck vs. Johnny Mundo...this should be interesting.
Big Ryck isn't the kind of performer I expected to see on this show.

kind of lame...and I see a table.

~ And Mundo goes through a table to finish the show.

Highlights: Sexy Star (Of Course), Pentagon Jr. vs. Fenix...

Lowlight: The main event was kind of lame...at least compared to the last episode.

All in All...yeah...I'm hooked on this show...and I hope the NetFlix deal helps
them grow a larger fanbase.

~ We again open with Konnan & Dario Cueto in that sleazy office set...Konnan should really
look at getting into "serious" acting.

~ Mil Muertes (with the lovely Catrina) vs. Drago...Hell Yeah...what a way to open the show...
~ King Cuerno is still hunting Drago...that's a cool spot he's watching from...
~ SPEAR BY MIL MUERTES!!!
~ And Mil Muertes gets the win with the End of Days...and Catrina licks Drago...

Episode 6: The Key (To Writing A Great Wrestling Show?)

~ And we open with Dario Cueto & Big Ryck...and your signing him to a big money contract?
is Dario drunk? or High? or both?

~ We open with Son of Havoc & Ivelisse...and they want some real competition...
and Son of Havoc will be facing...Oh Dear Jesus...Pimpinela Escarlata...I...I just
don't know what to say...I mean I'm an open minded guy and Goldust is one of
my all time favorites...but...I really didn't expect this.
I mean...will Son of Havoc be fighting a lucha chimp next week? (Please have a lucha chimp next episode)
~ And now we have a masked Mini chasing a hot lady around the ring...(Cue Benny Hill Music)
~ And Pimpinela Escarlata gets the win...and Son of Havoc continues to be bitched by everyone.
~ Seriously Ivelisse...ditch that zero and get with a hero...

~ And we cut to Dario Cueto taking a piss...Who wrote this episode? And now
Johnny Mundo grabs Dario...and this could go one of two ways...and either way
wouldn't surprise me...

~ We now we have Famous B (Okay...) vs. Mil Muertes (with the ravishing Catrina)...
I hope Mil hits another one of those bad ass spears in this match.

~ SPEAR! SPEAR! SPEAR! And the End of Days! Mil gets the win and Catrina licks
another victim.

~ And now a Drago vignette...and its incredible...

~ Time for a rematch...Drago vs. King Cuerno...
~ And there is that sexy Asian lady again...
~ Drago sure has some great moves...I mean Prince Puma & Fenix are slicker...but
Drago is not slouch.
~ And King Cuerno gets the win...

~ And now Johnny Mundo is in the ring...and he wants his money...
~ And here is Big Ryck...and Johnny is on the attack!
~ And now Konnan is in the house...Big Ryck on the attack...and Puma is here...

~ And a triple threat ladder match is announced for next week between Johnny,
Puma & Big Ryck...Man this show moves fast...and I love it.

~ And the main event is a tag team match between Scumbag Guerrero & Pentagon Jr.
vs. Oh look look...Its Sexy Star!!!

Wow...look at that outfit...I'm suddenly hungry for some Mexican...lol

Wait...didn't Becky Lynch wear that recently at the Elimination Chamber?

And now all I can think about is Sexy Star & Becky Lynch trying on each others clothes...
and I'm going to need a few minutes...

*20 Minutes Later*

Okay...where was I? Oh yeah...

~ And my Bae Sexy is teaming with Fenix...who I'm sure will be a great partner...
but once again I have to watch men wrestling a woman...and no matter how much I try...
I just can't get fully into it.
~ This match has been kind of disjointed...and now its turned into a car wreck...
~ Sexy flying to the outside!!! Hell Yeah! Now its picking up...
~ Well...that match took some time to get going...but the second half was great.
~ Sexy & Fenix get the win...Yay!

Highlights: Sexy Star, the second half of the main event, Mil Muertes spears another one...

Lowlight: The opening match was a little too...silly for my tastes...

All in All...another solid episode with characters and feuds being developed with
Mil Muertes slowly being built into an unstoppable Juggernaut.

Episode 7: The Top of The Ladder (is where Jeff Hardy Lives)

~ Hey...Danny Trejo is in the house tonight...Nice!

~ Our opening match is King Cuerno vs. Superfly...
~ And it appears Drago is watching...I think Cuerno and Drago should just cut the foreplay and give
into the passion...lol

~ And now Pentagon Jr. vignette...very cool...

~ Next is Scumbag Guerrero (accompanied by Pentagon Jr.) taking on Fenix who is accompanied by...
Oh look look...its Sexy Star!!!

*Sigh*

~ The crowd is right into this match...
~ And Scumbag Guerrero gets the win...Damn...
~ And Sexy cuts a little promo after and it appears Blue Demon Jr. will be returning soon...

~ Now we have a vignette on a new performer called Cage...and he looks like the posters Vince McMahon
has on the walls of his personal Gym...

~ And now its time for the Triple Threat Ladder Match Main Event between Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo
and Big Ryck for the $100,000 Briefcase. This should be awesome...as long as Big Ryck doesn't slow the
other two down too much.

~ And here comes the Goon Squad...
~ And I see tables...
~ The crowd is right into this match...
~ Shame the Goon Squad is ruining it...
~ And Puma goes for a ride through a ladder...
~ Johnny gets the cash for the win...
~ Dario Cueto wants his key back...and he does get it back...after being knocked out...Nice.

Highlights: Sexy Star, Danny Trejo Cameo, Several spots in the ladder match...

Lowlight: No Mil Muertes or Catrina this episode...

All in All...I felt this episode was a little flat. The ladder match seemed to drag on a little and I'm sick of
the Goon Squad being involved in everything Big Ryck does. More wrestlers doesn't mean more
entertainment.

Episode 8: A Unique Opportunity (To Entertain the Audience)

~ Okay...so I will admit the last episode fell a little flat for me...but...wait a minute...why are there
10 Luchas in the ring to start?

~ And its a 10 way match with the first pin fall or submission getting the win...
So...this episode is off to a "flying" start...get it?

~ We have: Fénix, Pentagón Jr., King Cuerno, Drago, Big Ryck, Super Fly, Prince Puma, Son of Havoc,
El Mariachi Loco and Mascarita Sagrada all fighting each other. So there is no way I can do a write up
on this...so I'm just going to watch the match.

Well...that one match was more entertaining than most episodes of RAW...and Fenix
gets the win. He's been "on fire" since arriving in the Underground...get it?

~ And Lucha Underground keeps the fun coming with a 10 Lucha Boyle Heights Battle Royal
featuring Mil Muertes, Johnny Mundo, Pimpinela Escarlata, The Crew (Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco and Bael),
Famous B, Ricky Mandel, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Oh look look...its Sexy Star!!!

Wait...Oh Jesus...she's in the ring with Mil Muertes...please don't get speared Sexy...I don't think I
could handle that.

Damn...Scumbag Guerrero eliminated Sexy...Bastard!

~ And hot Asian lady is back watching the action...
~ And Mil Muertes gets the win...which doesn't surprise me...the guy is a tank.

~ And here comes Dario Cueto who announces Aztec Warfare, the Lucha Underground title and
Mil Muertes vs. Fenix...the winner getting the best spot...the loser getting the worst spot in the first
Aztec Warfare. Nice work Mr. Cueto.

~ Mil Muertes (With Catrina) vs. Fenix...this should be good...

~ SPEAR!!! by Mil Muertes...
~ End of Day! Mil Muertes is still undefeated! and gets the 20 spot in Aztec Warfare.

Highlights: Basically the entire episode was fantastic...

Lowlight: Chavo eliminating Sexy Star in the Battle Royal...

All in All...this was the most entertaining episode yet and served as a great build up for Aztec Warfare.

Episode 9: Aztec Warfare (Let's get Ready to Rumble!)

And so here it is...the Lucha Underground version of the Royal Rumble...only its more like a No DQ match
with pin falls and submissions counting. Sounds good to me.

So...let's get this show on the road:

#1 is Fenix...and I knew that last week...and
#2 is Johnny Mundo...are you sure these numbers were drawn at random Mr. Cueto?
And the crowd is totally pumped...can't say I blame them...and we get a count down as well...that's always fun...

#3 is Mr. Cisco from the Goon Squad...and Jesus Christ...he's gone...eliminated by Johnny Mundo.

Cisco is Gone...

#4 is King Cuerno...the Hunter...this guy reminds me of Randy Orton in the way he moves around.
This temple setting almost seems too small for these guys.

#5 is Son of Havoc...possibly my least favorite performer on the show...but even
he has some sweet moves.

#6 is Pimpinela Escarlata and this Aztec Warfare just got a little campy...and Fenix gets kissed...lol

#7 is Prince Puma...possibly the best performer on the show...this guy is like lightning...I'm hoping he
puts in a good showing.

Hey...I see that hot Asian lady again...I wonder what her story is?

#8 is Ivelisse and damn she has a beautiful booty...and she seems to have some slick moves as well...
and she helps Son of Havoc to eliminate Pimpinela.

Pimpinela Escarlata is Gone...

#9 is Drago and it appears King Cuerno still has a hard-on for him...and Ivelisse gets smashed with
the "thrill of the hunt" and she's out...Damn...I was hoping she'd last longer.

both moments were hard for me to watch.

All in All...this and the last episode were truly amazing. The writers/bookers clearly know what they are
doing and the 45 minute time limit on the episodes means they keep it sharp, focused and action packed.
