TNA announced that The Great Muta, who recently left All Japan Pro Wrestling to launch his own promotion in Japan, was at the TNA offices today in Nashville meeting with Jeff Jarrett.
The Great Muta met with Jeff Jarrett and TNA's Andy Barton about the idea of TNA sending talent to his new promotion Wrestle 1. Longtime Japanese photographer Jimmy Suzuki was also at the meeting.

One would assume that this would lead to talent coming Stateside as well, but nothing has been officially confirmed. There should be an official announcement coming, but probably not anything in the next few days.

TNA have had a few working relationships with other foreign promotions before that haven't really led anywhere. This Wrestle 1 promotion only just formed after Muta left AJPW last month, they haven't even run a show yet. I can't see anything coming out of this.

I am intrigued to see where it goes however. Like you said it is odd if they have not even run a show yet, but Muta knows his stuff and I am sure would have good stable of talent which maybe TNA could work some shows with maybe have some break off feuds.

Not sure about this. Muta doesn't need TNA's help with his new promotion, he's fucking Muta, but on the other side, I don't think TNA would be helped any by this because they haven't run a show yet. Oh well, any Muta involvement is good.

LOL TNA meeting with Muta just seems right, both are horrible at business.

Muta doesn't know shit outside of his in-ring persona, he is a piece of shit who stabs people in the back and was the guy who ran All-Japan into the ground. People who don't follow Japanese wrestling need to know that, There is a reason why New Japan told him to go fuck off when he was trying to jump ship a few months ago.

If anybody gains anything from this at all it will be Muta and his promotion but TNA gains absolutely nothing from this and will probably be a total waste of time.

Muta's company only has a small roster at the moment, and their debut show isn't until like September. I think it could certainly do with the help of TNA early on, and i'd even like to see Muta make the occasional appearance in TNA. I'm sure as time goes on, maybe Muta will link up with NJPW and hell even NOAH is a possibility IMO.

And he didn't even create that himself. Gary Hart came up with the whole gimmick for him and made him into a star.

TNA surely can't think that this is a sound business move to work with a promotion that hasn't even started.

Are you saying Muta was not a great talent? Its one thing to come up with a great idea but it is still the guy playing the gimmick who has to sell it and that's what Muta did.

He is definitely a talent but if he hadn't been given the gimmick I doubt he would have reached the levels he reached. He had been wrestling for years to very little success before Hart took him under his wing. He gave him a gimmick that was always going to succeed, the son of the Great Kabuki, and developed his whole look and moveset. Is it any surprise that after Hart stopped managing him after Starcade '89 Muta's career in the US slipped dramatically? After that he was only able to be successful in Japan whereas Hart had him over like crazy in NWA right up there as a contender to the NWA World title.

But now you seem to be suggesting than unless you make it big in America than you are not a success. Japan in the 80s/90s was not in the state it is now. Also I would argue that he slipped in the states because of how the NWA jobbed him out. I think he could have got over with or without Hart.

I am not really trying to imply that, more that when Hart left his standing completely dropped and he struggled in NWA. He had to go home and get success there and lets be honest why wouldn't he excel there when he had spent the previous few years as one of the top stars in NWA. Everyone loves a homegrown star and someone that made it in the US was going to get over when he went home. He hadn't got over before Hart selected him and gave him the Muta gimmick.

Fair enough but I heard that Muta left because of them jobbing him out.

Getting back to now lets just wait and see what happens instead of writing it off before it gets started, it at least sounds like a decent idea which could benefit TNA if they can work shows with good talent.

I'm going to immediately write this off, Wrestling 1 has nobody. NOAH is damn near dead can't really partner up with him. NJPW don't want nothing to do with Muta because of what he did to AJPW, he has alot of heat with big name wrestlers.

Would totally make sense for Dixie to partner up with him, give him a six figure salary for him to head "TNA International" which would be nothing.
