I know almost nothing about how the name changing works on this site since I'm the type of guy who has had Cowboy Bebop as his signature since 2013 and I will never change it, but I do think if there isn't some limit on name changing their probably should be. While slight momentary confusion from not knowing who's who and whatever can be mildly annoying, I'm against removing the feature fully because this site's been around for even longer than 2013 and people can change a lot over the years. Like the PSN, I'm still upset that I'm stuck with the username I made over eight years ago when I thought it was going to be a shared account with my brother before it quickly became my personal account since he never actually touched the darn PS3, and now I've got way too many trophies to ever justify starting. I'd easily pay the twenty dollars if Sony just charged us to change it like I heard Microsoft does, I hope this is announced at E3.
I'm veering off-topic, people should be allowed to change their names but perhaps with a limit installed to curb confusion. Or perhaps, you know that little user bar thing below are avatar that you have to click on to see posts information and stuff? Is it possible to just implement previous usernames into that section? Like, not all of them, just like the last name "The poster formerly known as Prince", that way any member confused would have a method to quickly identify who the poster is that's just a click away. Though I also admittedly never use the mobile version of this site, since my phone can barely handle Google, but I don't imagine it'd be any different on that.
Final note, I appreciate the users who change their names but stick to a theme. I think Seth has had a different username every time I've logged on here but it's also had Seth incorporated into somewhere so he's always easily identifiable. And I remember when Snowman was a Rainman.
