That's an extremely unpopular opinion, but I'm open to discuss my point:

Imo he wasn't a main-event talent. He was booked like that, but it doesn't prove anything honestly.

There was a need to fill the gap and WWE "imposted" him as a hero on the fans with ridiculous booking.

So... i have a two questions, one for:
guys that consider Austin GOAT: what makes him more iconic than Hulk Hogan who created two wrestling booms (and who actually kicked off AE with nWo)

and another one, for:
guys that consider Austin one of GOATs: basically: what makes him one of them in your opinion? Do you believe that he'd be in the main-event scene without McMahon & Tyson?

He obviously was extremely popular among the fans, but his drawing ability is overrated - he get too much credit for successful PPVs such as WM 14 (Tyson!) or WM 17 (purchase of wCw). That's two different things (obviously connected): being popular and being a draw. Look up to the Icon v. Icon match from WM X-8 between Hogan and Rock. It was the match that transcended business and had a media coverage that Austin-Rock II hasn't; that's a clear example of drawing ability.
