No one ever kept talking about him....hell they still don't

Because people on the internet are incapable (For the most part) to talk shit about Orton.

I think its about time that Hardy got the belt. Drug offenses or not he's been busting him ass off for the WWE since armageddon of last year. I'd like to know what Stephanie was going to pose as an alternative for her man to actually win the belt. With trips possibly becoming victorious over Kozlov, Hardy, and then would of been Edge, there would be no viable challengers left. But eh, Hardy won, and the smackdown title scene is fresh.

Despite what all the smeep say, Stephanie would have more than likely wanted Edge to keep the belt, not drop it back to Trips.

A bold method of approach - the WWE is transforming into their aspiring family-friendly brand, and a third strike from their current in-ring flagbearer would only tarnish the business in all facets of the WWE's operation.

However - weighing up the reasons in favour of a Jeff Hardy title reign, there are a plethora of benefits that can catapult the business forward. You watch the buyrate shoot through the roof at RR because Jeff walks into the ring with the strap around his waist.

I dont think smoking weed in the back or at home is the same as pill popping shit like E or stealing from Soulpowers stash, or even getting busted with a pipe by the cops, R-V-D.

The day Hardy fails another drug test as champion, Nancy Grace will already have her notes ready.

first I admit I didn't read all the posts so if someone already mentioned this I'm sorry, but here is what I think...

I think its crap that Jeff Hardy's past of 2 drug failures is brought up as if he's the only one in the company. They keep saying its a risk its a risk, 3rd strike and he's fired. I don't disagree, but its not like he's the only one. Randy Orton won the WWE title at No Mercy and was at 2 strikes already. No one ever kept talking about him....hell they still don't. William Regal is on 2 strikes as well yet is the current IC Champion. I'm just tired of hearing about Hardy's 2 strikes and being high risk. Its like the world is waiting for Hardy to fail. How bout instead of dwelling on his past we try to have faith that he will not fall this time, and do well as the WWE Champion. Clearly its what the majority of the fans wanted. Let him run with it.

^What he said.

Orton only has one strike, that resulted in his 2006 suspension. He was linked to the scandal in 2007, but APPARENTLY, the WWE was already aware of his participation and that was what they punished in 2006.

It's a difficuilt situation. .Jeff is way over with the crowd, just listen to his opening segment on Smackdown. I may have gotten pissy initially, but hey, I think Hardy may be able to make this work.

In my opinion, there's tonnes of guys on 'roids or other subtances in the 'E who they don't suspend. I believe every now and again they suspend one to send a message that they are in fact using the Wellness Policy (ie. Booker in 07, Hardy in 08) and that's the reason Hardy's push wasn't finished. Or just because Hardy's been suspended twice and they think he's learnt his lesson.

I think you need to realise that people don't bring it up URGING him to fail. I love Jeff Hardy, I think he's a good change from Triple H, and I want this reign to be good and long. I'm really glad McMahon gave him the chance. That being said, are you telling me McMahon wouldn't have been thinking about this, maybe even using it as a reason to not give him the title sooner? This is brought up because it IS related to him getting the belt. And he is a risk, regardless of how much we want him to succeed. It's all down to him now.

The reason why I would never give Jeff the belt is because he can't cut a promo and isn't that good of a wrestler. He's entertaining and has a few big moves but hes no Triple H, or even Edge who can tell a story while they wrestle.

(For people who want to bash me) Chris Benoit was a great wrestler who couldn't cut a promo but I thought he deserved the belt and deserved to be in the mainevent.

Jeff Hardy is terrible at promos, he wrestles one way and he won't draw ratings. I probably won't watch Smackdown until he losses the belt. I have no problem with Jeff Hardy I liked him when he was with the Hardy Boyz and I still like him, but some guys just arent WWE Championship Material and hes one of them.

Agreed. His promo on Friday had to be the worst title celebration promo in a long, long time. And it only got worse when Edge came out, as Edge just exposed Hardy even more by showing that he is in a superior mic skills league.

I told you, Hardy was decent in his promos when chasing for the belt, only decent. Now that he HAS the belt, he has no reason to do the promos he was doing when chasing for the belt, the ones that were acceptable, so he falls right back to the mediocre promos he used to cut.

I agree with the fact its a risk to put the belt on him. And anyone who says it isn't well tbh the are blind. Don't get me wrong I'm all up for Jeff holding the belt, It's about time he is way over the fans wanted it. But it is a risk not just cos of his drug issues, But the overall holding the belt thing. His mic skills are less than good as shown on SD this week they were crap. As pointed out his promo/mic skills were million times better before he had the title. His move set is so so, Yes he has some high flying moves and takes some sick bumps but can that get him through a long run as champ i have my doubts. I cant argue with the fact that his is over big time and has a huge amount of fans. But will he draw big time ?. I would love him to have a real good lengthy title run and prove the doubters wrong, I have my doubts and i think he may well have a short title run.

Speaking of Jeff's promo, am I the only one who finds it funny it actually wasn't his promo, more Edge's? For a victory celebration, he said about two lines before Edge came out and starting to rip into him, before Hardy said about two more words and it finished.

Shows how much faith they have in Jeff's mic skills.
