Attila Vass’s LinkedIn profile says he worked as director of research and development at SCEA from May 1998 to April 2012, adding that he worked on the graphic library and security for the “Next Generation PlayStation†between August 2010 and April 2012.

The job description on his profile also confirms that he was involved in working for Sony’s “next-gen†platforms.

“In 1998 I started as the first engineer in the Playstation US R&D,†says Vass’s profile.

“I worked on graphics ( COLLADA, PSGL ) and a lot of network related technologies ( advertising, telemetry, PVRs ) for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms. Platform security was occupying most of my time at the last years… â€

VG247 was told earlier this year that Sony is aiming to launch PlayStation 4 before Xbox 720 next Christmas.

It doesn't matter how long they work on it as it's still not gonna compare to the Xbox 720. I bet Microsoft has been working on it for much longer like what game developers do. They start working on the next one around the time their last product was released. In another recent news piece where there was leaked supposed Xbox 720 info, a lot had already been and that leaked paper was written in 2010.

But so it should be released in less than a year? Nice then. Hopefully it's good.

How could it not compare to the Xbox 720? That's like saying the PS3 doesn't compare to the 360 and it very much does. The PS4 will certainly be a very nice machine. Just curious what it is going to be capable of doing. But they do need to improve the online features. Online kinda isn't that good.

Yeah, if they keep with a lot of the same features of the PS3 it will once again be a better system than their Microsoft counterpart.

Sony has always had the better system, the PS2 had alot more games that are worth playing than the Xbox had games, PS3 has free online gaming, and I have no doubt the NG:pS will be miles above the NG:Xbox.

Microsoft wants to make it so you cannot share games anymore, and their stand on "couch co-op" this generation was laughable. Do all of Microsofts fanbase sit in a dark basement alone not knowing any real people? Yet Nintendo fans do have real friends?(6 player couch co-op is rumoured for the Wii U, and you know its bad when a Nintendo Console is the first to announce the use of Unreal 4)

One thing I really dont understand is why Sony is even making a NG:pS, after the life cycle of the previous PS's I was certain they would have held off a few more years.

Playstation's online is so bad. I rather pay 20 bucks a month or fifty for a year then have to deal with more little kids yelling in their mic, team killers, hackers ect. If you have to pay for a account you're going to be less likely to try to cheat the system among other things. I've played on both consoles online, and Microsoft's offers so much more.
