I don't think they've really done anything "unthinkable" unless you count putting Mason Ryan on TV.

And I agree with the philosophy on Punk, the problem is he got to play by a different set of rules than everybody else and he's been force fed to the audience for 6 months, and he still isn't making the impact he should. Anybody could get big pops with his kinda push, but they're like Orton pops, they cheer because he's perceived as a top guy, the reality is all of his title reigns fail (Just like Orton) for a reason. AND his promos bury the entire show to prop himself up, which is gay.

Cena can still be PG and be good...he just needs to actually give a damn and sell things. I go back to his Nexus retirement speech, which was entirely PG, but he put real emotion into it, which is like the one time he has in 5 years, and it's his best promo, even a year later.

^That's my point (about Cena). He can do the PG thing and be great... but he tries to be ultra-PG, like a fucking cartoon... Blues Clues kinda shit... and it KILLS him and the product he's working with.

The problem with Punk (which you pointed out) also lies in the fact that NOBODY credible is there to contest him, and they completely squashed Triple H and/or Nash against him... both of whom could have really helped establish him early on in his new development. The only person left for him now is a heel Cena..

But what will a Heel Cena do when all Punk does is reference cult TV shows that 99% of their audience hasn't seen, bury people for no reason (For example, "ADR is really boring and the show sucks, fast forward on your DVR through the rest of the show and watch me talk". To me, that's a firable offense to use a line like that DURING THE SHOW. He and whoever told him or said it was okay to say something like that, I don't care if ADR is the worst wrestler ever. Plus shout out his indy buddies that people also don't care about. I'm not saying there's no hope or he has no talent, it's that there's something about him in his current form that keeps him from even being a Jericho level guy and being a legit headliner. I've said before, I think he's a legit asshole with way too big of an ego that bleeds through to his supposedly face character.

They're trying to move away from all that with him tbf, but I still wouldn't say he's hitting home runs in his promos or matches yet, to being the main guy Cena puts over?

don't see the problem with Punk calling ADR boring at all. HE IS fucking boring, he's the heel, he's suppose to be insulted like that. The fans aren't cheering for him anyway. Rock use to say the same thing to HHH back in the day and pretty much everyone else. Remember Austin to Lance Storm?

The business was a lot different back then, and that Storm gimmick pretty much ended any hope of him getting over. There's a million different ways to make fun of someone without undercutting them. Now people who might not have thought ADR is boring, whenever he comes out, Punk saying to fast forward and change the channel immediately comes to mind. I don't remember one instance of Rock or Austin going out during the show and telling the audience to turn off Raw whenever Trips or Lance showed up. That's the kind of thing that ends up putting the cracks into the dam.

Not to mention that people in the general public recognized SCSA and Rock as the two biggest stars perhaps ever. Punk's getting pushed hard but he's not any more relevant than ADR was. In fact when they did the title switch ratings went down by a fair margin...again. Punk's act has been the same for 6 months and it still fails on pretty much every level, he's no Rock or Austin, he has no cred to bury people to put himself over like that.
