The Elder Scroll games definitely aren't for everybody. I have no idea how they've gotten as popular as they have given that they really are targeted towards a small group of people.

Why do you keep saying the same stuff over and over again? Like I'm honestly getting confused as to what you're trying to accomplish here.

That would be you, Lucas. Of course you have nothing else to say, I'll just drop this. Pointless.

Faggoty? What? You also call that serious? Not at all, I was laughing when I read your post. Guess you're too stupid to understand role playing games...

Truth be told Nation, Skyrim and all the Elder Scrolls games, while I have a love for the idea of them. In truth are extremely poorly executed in one major area where it matters the most in RPGs, the combat.

The games are gorgeous, expansive and tell some great stories. However, the combat is one of the most abysmal systems I have seen in any game. It's constantly the same, it's not difficult and even worse it's not even fun.

I enjoy RPGs but for some reason I just don't like skyrim. Yeah the combat is crap, was watching my mate play for awhile the other day, he gets attacked by something then a couple hits later its over, there's just no real challenge at all.

Btw, Legend of Dragoon is the best RPG of all time, just sayin'

How? Sure it's pretty repetitive in Oblivion but in Skyrim it's improved upon. You can play how you want to play. Use magic, two handed weapons, one handed weapons, archery, dual wield weapons and/or magic, use shouts, and any kind of potions which relate to combat(for example poisoning weapons)

I recently got into Elder Scrolls, before I was strictly a Fallout player. Speaking of that, it has some of the best combat in a role playing game. For VATS alone, it never gets old. One of the best creations in video game history. But Elder Scrolls is special and while it has similarities to Fallout obviously, it provides many of it's own elements.

Never played it, heard a lot of hype for it. I'd get it if Sony releases it on PSN. For now I'll stick with Elder Scrolls/Fallout and I got FF7 which is probably the most hyped game ever so I'll have to see. The opening is really epic, haven't had time to play more yet.

It still amounts to the same thing all the time. Either spell, spell, spell or attack, attack, attack. There's no real strategy involved. Quaffing potions and the like are entirely optional and not necessary to win battles. Same thing with spells. You can pretty much just stick with a couple of spells and spam the shit out of them. TES games need to entirely revamp their system to force people to approach each battle differently.

I haven't played any of the Fallout games. I'll give them a shot one of these days. I've been playing TES since Morrowind and likely that's why I'm so disillusioned. The combat hasn't changed one iota since then. It's still the same basic point and click, click, click, click system and personally, it's not fun anymore.

On Legend of Dragoon; fuck the PSN, go out and buy the game and play it. It's that well worth it. Even if you have to buy a cheap PS1 to play it, it's worth it.

Fuck yeah Monk, thought you might have played it. I actually read somewhere that theyre planning on putting it out on PSN soon, not sure when but if that doesn't happen yeah go and buy a cheap PS1 because it's awesome. I downloaded it and put it on my brothers PSP awhile back and played it on there was awesome.

Perhaps you should fight more dragons/giants/trolls? I haven't had to rely on potions much yet but I'm not too deep into it, in my next encounters I'll definitely need to use proper defenses and strengths. There's definitely some strategy in the harder fought battles. I desperately try to get cover anytime I fight a dragon, I seek anywhere Giants can't go like doors to battle them and I lured a dragon over to where two giants where and I battled it out with all of them as they fought each other. You can play how you want to play but sure it could have more strategy, that's why you should probably play strategy games for that. But what RPG's do have deep combat besides Deux Ex and arguably Fallout? JRPGS are far more repetitive.

Oh wow, Fallout 3 really might be the greatest game ever. I played the shit out of it and I was so immersed by the world and mesmerized. I love Oblivion and Skyrim but Fallout 3 is something amazing, something no other game can accomplish to be this detailed and deep. I don't even know how to explain it, it's just one of the greatest games ever. New Vegas is great too and actually has a lot of improvements but for whatever reason I haven't even beat it yet. Maybe because the engine got old.

As for Legend of Dragoon, really? I've heard so much hype for this game but it always just sounded like it was a hidden gem and a very underrated game, not anything more. I'll definitely play it eventually but I'm sure Sony has to eventually release it on PSN since they don't have many more classics that aren't already on PSN. If not, I'll have to track down a copy of it on disc.

Quick edit: Dragoon was released last year on the Jap PSN so I'm sure it's bound to come to NA.

Same here but it's pretty unfair to judge it by the first game. Apparently the sequels are ten folds better. The first game had just decent reviews/reception while the sequels and especially the 2nd game have had really high reviews/reception. I don't know though but I'd try giving the 2nd game one last shot. Hopefully, someday I can get to that. Still have so many unplayed games and there is a shit load of games I don't have yet, sigh
