Right now, as we all know, especially on the internet, the ratings are down. Some would also say that the product is bad, but thats arguable. Bottom line is, the ratings arent as good as recent years... So WWE tried alot of things... the Regal going nuts, the million dollars, Cena/HHH again, and frequent changes of the WHC... However this clearly wasnt going to help the ratings, because what WWE didnt realise was, those storylines, except for the million dollar thing, all the others were only known to the wwe fans... So if stipping Taker time and time again, and doing shocking storylines was for ratings, it didnt work, as that wasnt spread around except for withing the wrestling circles... But now, with them still struggling, should WWE use its money, and try to bring in some legends for the short term? I mean, yes, some of them are pissed at Vince, like Brett hart, but with all WWE's money, they can throw some sweet cash and persuade at least 2 or 3 guys to come back. They could try and get Austin, Bret Hart, etc to come back for a few months to help the product...

On one side, its bad because they would be coming in and clearly taking away TV time from guys we want pushed like Kennedy, Punk, Orton, MVP, Matt hardy, etc...

But its also good, because if WWE got some big names back, if they could somehow manage to keep them around for a while, then eventually, people, former fans, would hear, and tune in... And they would watch for a couple of months, while the legends are there, and then even once they left, the fans tunign in would be in the pattern of watching WWE, and probablt continue watching...

-What do you think>? Would you want WWE to bring back some legends for the short term to help ratings?
-Do you think it could help ratings?
-Which legends would you suggest bringing back (be realistic)?

it depends who they try and bring back. if they could get someone like austin to be the raw gm id like that. they need to get legends who can come back for atleast 1-2 years and wrestle semi-full time... idk who they could get. and if they just push their younger talent right there would be no need for this

Just like what Enigma22 said it depends what legends. If its like The Rock or Stone Cold then yes, but if its like Slaughter and old people legends then no.

There is no one that will come back.

Austin won't come back to wrestle and he's been GM before.

The Rock will never come back.

Hulk Hogan would be likely to come back but he has to much negative press and distractions so maybe by WrestleMania he'll be back.

Roddy Piper is 100 pounds over weight and serves no use.

Goldberg is a broadcaster for EliteXC and has no plans on returning.

Brock Lesnar is in UFC.

Mick Foley is a broadcaster now and his body can't take the toll of being a full time wrestler.

All legends from the 80's serve no use.

WWE has brought back Chris Jericho and really hasn't done anything with him.

Psycho Sid might be coming back but what is there for him to do besides feud with Undertaker?

Believe it or not the legends WWE needs are all in TNA. People like Sting, Nash, New Age Outlaws, than they could use people like the Dudleyz and Rhyno in ECW. So WWE really has no where to go to get legends.

I think if Stone Cold was brought back for a short period, that would spice things up. A few years back Stone Cold was 'Sheriff Austin', essentially an authority figure and needless to say, that was a riot. Personally I wouldn't say no to something like that as it's quite clear the fans adore Stone Cold.

Like you mentioned MikeRaw, something involving Bret Hart would spark LOADS of interest. I know there was talk of Bret doing some angle with Vince back in 2006/2007 but it never came to fruition. However, the relationship between the two will always be shaky so I think it's totally unlikely to ever happen.

I don't know, WWE does need something to boost its ratings now. Step one would be to cancel Million Dollar Mania or at least make it sleeker so it doesn't take up half the fucking air time. I say a legend, like Stone Cold, returning for a while could definately improve ratings but WWE shouldn't have to rely on bringing back legends to boost the numbers. They have some incredible young talent, they need to begin pushing it now.

All they need to do is put the belt on Cena.

Its clear that people are sick and tired of the long title reign "anyone but Cena" has had. Its time to freshen things up and get the belt back on Cena.

Need evidence? Look at the ratings the week before Cena dropped the belt and look at them now.

Ratings were good during Orton's reign because of the anticipation that Cena would come back and defeat the evil voice hearing guy.

The problem now is that no one expects Cena to beat HHH for the belt, so they dont care. Thats right, there is absolutely no reason to care about Triple H as champion. At least when Orton was champ they had something to look forward to.

Ratings will continue to plummet until Cena wins the belt.

To be honest, the solution may be in what they already have - such as pushing a legit tag team division with exciting matches. Perhaps allowing more time on tv matches to build up an audience of wrestling fans again, not sports entertainment fans.

Granted, the Dudleyz coming back and putting people through tables left, right and centre wouldn't hurt... although I think they are past their prime in terms of working.

WWE doesn't need to bring back old guys, they need to start pushing the young stars they have now. Ratings are down because the product sucks, start putting on a better product and guess what? People will actually want to watch.

Triple H as champion really isnt appealing at all....I dont see anything good/cool/exciting anything about his title reign....Its been boring and bland, probably one of his worst to date. Cena as champ would be iight, but still as long as he dosent fucking hog the belt.

I'm completely serious. They could fix the Raw ratings by either.

a. Have Cena beat HHH
b. Have a heel beat HHH, then have Cena chase the heel.

HHH's reign is uneventful and boring because there are no credible heel challengers and HHH has been booked above everyone for so long, you just don't get the feeling anyone can take the belt off him.

What made Orton's reign good was the feeling that Cena or HHH could come and end Orton's reign.

What made Cena's reign's so good for the casuals was because Cena was always booked as the underdog so their hero was always in jeapordy. For the smarks, it was the anticipation of Cena dropping the belt.

HHH is not an underdog. He is a face that is booked as god. NO ONE IS A THREAT.

Dominant Faces = Boring.

I agree with you on your whole post, I just don't think he should carry the belt. But from what I see he is the only person who could unless you bring in Batista.
Having a God as a champ just makes it all boring. Seriously I don't care about him being champ. It doesn't fit him anymore, honestly he just does not fit as champ. That's like bringing in Macho Man to be champ again. I don't know if you guys agree with me or not but I honestly think God HHH should step off already.

Don't the old timers come and go like every so often anyways? So why bring them back for some 2-3 week feud? Just focus on the young guys.

Yes, but people are missing th epoinht of this thread. Im not saying we would all love it, Im saying that the point of bringing legends back would be to get interest back to former fans (whcih young guys arent doing) and then have them stick aroudn for 2 months, and then they can leave, and go back to focusing on young guys, but WWE would have drawn in some fans with the old legends, and they would probably continue watching.

As already pointed out Legends alread feature fairly regularly in various capacity. I don't see how seeing a legend in the ring, being a shadow of their former self will endear any old fans to start watching again.... Especially as they'd mostly likely need to be watching to even know about their appearances to start with.

WWE are trying to build a future... They're struggling to find RELIABLE people to push up to the ME to replace the current 'crop' as it is... Legends having short runs for ratings will only make things worse.
