Been trying to figure out how to word this.
I certainly feel like a bit of an outsider here (through the fault of no one). I don't do a lot of the wrestling discussion, mainly because I haven't followed wrestling that closely in a while. Came over with the WC shut down, so take my opinion for what you will.
Banning links to Twitter doesn't actually accomplish much of anything. Elon (who is an absolute shitbag, not debating that) isn't going to notice if a wrestling message board no longer allows links to his platform. The same can be said for banning links to Meta sites. And I say that as someone who doesn't have X/FB/IG or any of the other ones. All it does is limit what people can share and see on a forum that's built primarily around a specific interest: wrestling.
Forums as a whole are already being backed into a corner on the internet. Wrestling forums even moreso. Wrestling forums cater to a niche (wrestling fans) of a niche (message board users) Putting limits in place as to what kind of links to wrestling content people can share is just not a good move for the future of this site.
What happens when Musk, Zuck, or some other billionaire makes an offer on Bluesky and Jay Graber takes it? We ban Bluesky links? Then what? This just seems like a kneejerk reaction that doesn't accomplish anything but has the potential to slow down interaction.
I don't expect anyone to really agree with me, and that's OK. I voted "No" just because I think it's a pointless step to take.
