Should a superstar have to prove himself as a face and a heel?

Most superstars are both a face and a heel before they retire. Some superstars are much better in a specific role.

Do you think that in a superstar's career, they need to be a face and a heel? Or does it matter?

Honestly it can work anyway....the only thing that bothers me is if they change between the two every year or so...but as long as you can play both parts well then it's all gravy

I don't see why it matters that they need to be heel and a face. If they can work their entire career as one, then they're obviously pretty damn good at it. Change for the sake of change is senseless.

Hulk Hogan was a good babyface, does that mean he shouldn't have turned heel?

Hogan turned because in WCW he was getting boo'ed anyway cuz they were sick of his same old same old therefore he was no longer a good face

Much like cena today except Cena still gets a decent amount of cheers in some arenas which is one reason he has not gone back to being a heel.

Like Booty said, Hogan was booed, meaning he wasn't such an amazing babyface. He was already being booed in the WWF and once he came to WCW, it only got worse since the fans didn't see him as "One of their guys". Despite initially increasing buyrates and live gates, Hogan stopped being a draw (At least for what they were paying him) by time they decided to turn him heel. So to answer you question for whether WCW should have turned Hogan heel, despite being a good babyface. The answer is simple - he wasn't a good babyface.

The answer to is question is Ricky Steamboat. Guy was a face his entire career, and is considered one of the best of all time. No one ever holds the fact he was never a heel against him.

If you're that good at whatever role you play, then it doesn't really matter.

i think if the shoe fits wear it. While i enjoy heels more its just a matter of when u turn was it good, worth it and kept my attention.

I like Ghostface's logic. If playing the villain is what works, then ride it for as long as possible. Same goes for being a face. To answer the question.. no. A wrestler who is introduced as a face and excels at it shouldn't be forced to become heel before advancing up the card, nor should they be limited by the fact they only play one side of the fence.
