Shotzi deactivates Twitter account after MITB backlash

Shotzi says that some of the comments she's received following Money in the Bank have "hit hard."

The SmackDown wrestler performed in the women's Money in the Bank match on the pay-per-view. On Monday, she posted a statement on Twitter addressing critics of her performance.

"There are 3 things I care about at the end of a match. Is everyone safe? Did everyone have fun? Did the crowd react? Nobody got hurt. We all had a blast and the Vegas crowd was HotHotHot! I felt on top of the world after that match and was so excited to finally have my first hardcore match in over a year. I wouldn't have done anything I didn't practice or thought I couldn't do safely. But I'm not a wrestle robot, I'm human and slips happen especially in a CHAOTIC UNPREDICTABLE ladder match!

"I can take a joke and laugh at myself (One of the first things I said was 'I can't wait to see that spot on botchamania') but comments like "you should be fired" and other terrible things admittedly hit hard. I had to have a few friends wipe the tears off my face and slap some sense into me and remind me WHO THE F I AM! That being said, all my haters can SUCK MY BIG GIANT HAIR MANGOS!"

Alexa Bliss and Natalya both replied to Shotzi's comments.

"I’m proud of you for always keeping it real. Ladder matches are so hard to do. You guys worked your asses off—" Natalya wrote.

"This is why I don’t like Twitter most of the time - ppl are always to bash everything - if people only knew what all goes into what we do - & the chaos of that day haha everyone is safe & we all had fun," wrote Bliss.

At Money In The Bank, the women’s ladder match featured enough slips and mistakes to fill an entire episode of Botchamania, and while not solely responsible, Shotzi Blackheart has received much of the backlash. Some fans would go as far as to say she should be fired due to almost injuring Alexa Bliss, while others simply stated she wasn’t ready for the main roster. However, a section of fans would smell blood after she acknowledged on Twitter the feedback had left her in tears, and following continued criticism, she has now deactivated her account.


Many of the comments Shotzi had received pointed out her history of mocking others when things didn’t go to plan. Examples of these include her posting a GIF of Gillberg making his entrance with sparklers shortly after AEW’s disappointing ring explosion, as well as a GIF of someone dropping onto a mattress after Chris Jericho’s bump at the first Blood & Guts match. With these fans seemingly believing she can dish it out but not take it in return.


Despite all the negativity towards the SmackDown star, Bliss would come to her defense, saying, “everyone is safe & we all had fun.” That, though, clearly didn’t appease those criticizing Shotzi, and it will now be interesting to see if she remains off Twitter. In the past, multiple other wrestlers have departed the bird app, including Bliss, when fans get personal. Still, they do typically reactivate their accounts after a break once the online hate mob has moved on.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for her when she was the one who mocked the fireworks botch in AEW, Jericho's ring work and joked about Meat Loaf's death.
