Revolutionising Pro Wrestling One Hold at a Time

Rob Feinstein was the founder of Ring of Honor and the innovator of the pure technical wrestling wave that spread rapidly across the professional wrestling industry. He first started in the wrestling business as part of a fan cam operation for Extreme Championship Wrestling, before moving onto filling the void left by the extinction of the hardcore promotion in 2001. He introduced the code of honor wrestling principal and took his promotion to the top as one of the most profound wrestling companies in the independent wrestling circuit. Feinstein sold away all Ring of Honor property in early 2004 and publicly resigned following involvement in controversial legal issues.

Court Bauer was the owner and executive producer of Major League Wrestling and was responsible for the creation of hybrid wrestling, which blended several styles into a cutting edge display of professional wrestling. He was also recognised for hoisting the names of several wrestlers up, helping them up to promotions as big as World Wrestling Entertainment. He established his promotion in 2002 and composed a roster consisting mostly of Extreme Championship Wrestling castaways, as well as young talent from the independent wrestling circuit. Major League Wrestling officially closed doors in 2004 after a series of financial difficulties and sold most of its assets to WGO Properties of Asia.

These were two men who had influenced the future of professional wrestling; two men who had made names for themselves, who had made an impact in the business. These were two men who had too much left in them to be finished so soon, and they both knew it. And thus, an unlikely partnership emerged; a collaboration between the two men who had been on completely opposite ends: one on the side of pure, technical wrestling, and one on the side of hard hitting, hybrid wrestling. So the two men once inspired to do well in the wrestling business came together under a renewed passion, and on January of 2005, the Second City Wrestling Revolution was born into the wrestling world, and it was going to be revolutionising the playing ground that it stood on; it was going to be taking the state of professional wrestling to the next platform, one small hold at a time.

Court Bauer and Rob Feinstein had known each other vaguely from a previous encounter in the entertainment industry. Following the resignation of Feinstein, Bauer had made a proposition that would be very hard to decline: a promotion combining both the pure and hardcore styles of wrestling that they had been accustomed to. Feinstein had known that his career could not end at such an early stage and soon complied with the project. Operations began immediately, with Feinstein arranging event schedules, venues and advertising while Court Bauer built the Second City Wrestling Revolution roster. Bauer offered contracts to many of the remaining wrestlers from Major League Wrestling, some of which agreed to, and continued on his hunt for free agents, scouting for former World Wrestling Entertainment workers in order to gain some public image. The official web page for SCWR was opened by the end of November 2005 and gained a reasonable amount of interest within the Internet Wrestling Community. The foundations of the newest addition to the wrestling circuit were set; now only time could tell whether it was truly going to be the revolutionary that it stated it was, or if the dream of Rob Feinstein and Court Bauer was going to stay as just that, a dream.

Well I thought that I might as well post this here since I have joined and all. I am not sure how many of you guys watch or know about the independent wrestling circuit, but hopefully I pick up a few interested readers. All comments are appreciated, and I encourage constructive criticism as improvement is what I am looking for, not so much praise.

More announcements and information concerning the event will be posted soon.

Well here is my first show, I hope that some of the bookers who are familiar with the roster will leave some feedback, but any sort of comment from any sort of booker is fine with me. Thanks, and enjoy,

SCWR Rise of the Renegades
2 December 2005
With only five short minutes away from the beginning of the first ever Second City Wrestling Revolution event, the Lincoln Park Auditorium of Chicago, Illinois is filling in quick. The concession stands are being kept busy with long queues of fans waiting to buy their tickets. Inside the Auditorium space is a standard wrestling ring with green ropes and the SCWR logo printed on the apron sides. Fold up chairs have been positioned around ringside and the backstage hallway door has been covered with a black curtain for entrances of the wrestlers. The curtain leads to a separation in the chairs which creates an aisle for the wrestlers to get to the ring through. It seems that the projector screen on the far wall will be acting as a titantron, with the Auditorium projector being linked to the computer in the technician room on the balcony.

A countdown begins on the screen and the fans inside count down. As the timer reaches zero, ‘Take the Power Back’ by Rage Against the Machine plays across the Auditorium, resonating through the speakers in the corners of the arena space. The screen displays the SCWR logo, as well as a Rise of the Renegades graphic. More fans come into the Auditorium now that the show has officially begun, totalling at 538 people in attendance overall.

The music fades out and the lights dim, with a single spotlight shining on the entrance curtain. ‘Miseria Cantare’ by AFI hits the speakers to a huge pop from the Chicago crowd, as CM Punk emerges from the curtain looking alive and ready for his match in the Opening Round of the Super Twelve Tournament. Punk crosses his arms into his straight edge pose, before walking down the aisle and slapping the hands of eager fans. The spotlight follows him into the ring, where he stands and poses once again. He climbs a turnbuckle and taunts the crowd as his song switches to that of his opponent.

Out comes The Shooter, Brent Albright, to his theme music, ‘House of the Rising Sun’ by The Animals to an equally loud reaction from the fans. Albright wears a white vest to the ring but takes it off before sliding in and joining CM Punk, who stands at his corner rolling his wrists. Albright pulls on the top rope, and rebounds back and forth off the ropes, getting ready for this very important match. The winner of this match will advance to the next round of the Super Twelve Tournament and gain one more step at becoming the SCWR Heavyweight Champion.

Super Twelve Tournament Opening Round
Brent Albright vs CM Punk
Punk and Albright finish warming up in their respective corners as the bell sounds, meeting in the middle of the ring for a lock up in the first ever Second City Wrestling Revolution match in history. They go knuckle to knuckle in a test of strength, which Punk manages to win. Punk applies an arm wrench, but only for a moment, as Albright counters the hold into an arm wrench of his own. Punk goes behind and locks in an armbar from the back, making Albright hesitate before rolling around the other side and again countering the maneuver. Punk flips forward to escape the hold and goes for a clothesline, which Albright ducks and runs through. The Shooter comes off the ropes and speeds across to the adjacent ropes, with Punk dropping down to his stomach for his opponent to run over. Albright rebounds off the ropes and turns around, only for Punk to surprise him with a Monkey Flip! Albright, however, lands on his feet and runs towards the ropes again, bouncing off for a kitchen sink knee to the gut of Punk! From here on, The Shooter goes to work on the arms, taking them apart with various submissions and attacks.

In the second half of the match, Albright has Punk locked in a series of rolling German suplexes, his hands gripped together tight. After the third suplex, Albright drags Punk up by the waist for another, but is surprised with a shoulder jawbreaker from out of nowhere! CM Punk now begins to unleash a heavy thrust of rights and lefts, then attacking his opponent with kicks to the thigh and mid section. He now has Albright cornered in the turnbuckles and continues his offence with repeated backhand chops, following up with a spinning punch and a roundhouse kick to the temple! Punk goes for the uranage slam and it looks like the end is near for The Shooter, but Albright saves himself from the maneuver with an elbow to the back of the head and a neckbreaker! Albright stomps Punk in the head and shoulders before focusing back on the arms of his opposition with a knee drop to the arm. Albright weakens Punk more and more, finally seeing the opportunity to lock in the Fujiwara Crowbar. He approaches Punk’s left arm, but before he can, Punk snaps Albright down with a drop toe hold and quickly applies a reverse Indian Deathlock surfboard!

The match slowly comes to a finish as the two competitors exchange hard open hands in the middle of the ring. Punk swings a kick at Albright, catching him in the thigh and making him stagger, creating a perfect time for a Shining Wizard kick. Punk bounces off the near ropes and runs at Albright in full speed, but The Shooter expects the attack and extends his foot, hitting Punk face first with the boot! Punk takes a few steps back, holding his face in pain while Albright makes it to his feet with haste. Albright speeds towards Punk, who is still looking rather groggy, but is taken over the top rope! Punk pulls the top rope down and Albright lands on the apron, wasting no time and going for an elbow. Punk ducks and looks for a shoulder barge through the top and second ropes. The Shooter sees it coming and moves out of the way, leaving Punk hung up on the second rope and prone to an attack. Albright hits a knee to the face to send Punk back to the center of the ring and enters back into the squared circle himself. Albright now attempts a lariat to ground his opponent for the finishing Crowbar, but Punk ducks and lands an uranage slam! Punk grabs the arm of Albright and tugs it back while landing, now having the Anaconda Vice tightly secured on The Shooter! With all ropes out of reach, Albright has no choice but to tap out, giving CM Punk the submission victory!

Punk lets go of the hold as soon as the bell rings and stands to a loud ovation of claps from the crowd. ‘Miseria Cantare’ plays in the background and Punk climbs the turnbuckle and strikes his crossed arm pose while Albright makes it to his feet. Punk comes down and looks at Albright, offering a handshake to his opponent with nothing but pure respect. Albright accepts with no hesitation to the approval of the fans, but not to a certain individual backstage.

Voice: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on just one second here folks.

Punk and Albright both turn to look at the entrance curtain, which pulls back to unveil Scrap Iron Adam Pearce with a microphone in hand to a negative reaction from the crowd.

Pearce: Can somebody please inform me on what in the hell is going on in that ring? No please, raise your hand, tell me, because Scrap Iron Adam Pearce has just used kilojoules of his precious energy coming out here to find a pair of low life jobbers in his ring looking for an excuse to grab each other some more after already spending enough time on top of one another to outsell a thirty minute porno!

The heat begins to stir in the Lincoln Park Auditorium, as the Windy City fans lay a heavy flurry of jeers on Pearce. Both Punk and Albright look on with discontent faces and Albright takes a step towards Pearce, only to be stopped by Punk who shakes his head and acts as the peacemaker in this encounter.

Pearce: So tell me, what exactly is this little gathering in the ring that –

Adam Pearce is cut off by a fan in the front row, who shouts ‘Respect, bitch!’ Pearce smirks at the fan, who is only a few feet away, and faces him.

Pearce: Respect? Is that what you would call this? You want to talk to me about respect? I’ll tell you a little something about respect, smartass! Respect is keeping your tiny mouth hole shut when Scrap Iron Adam Pearce is talking, even when he tells you to speak!

Pearce turns back to peering at Punk and Albright in the ring and continues to talk.

Pearce: Respect is making way for Scrap Iron Adam Pearce so in the ring the Scrap Daddy can do what he does best: kicking a few asses, slapping a few faces, breaking a few necks, collecting his pay check and getting the hell out of shit cities like this so he can get back to his five month year old son at home who has a higher intelligence quotient than all of these lazy assed bastards in the front row put together!

Pearce receives more heat for his comments, with Albright on the verge of exiting the ring and knocking Adam Pearce straight in the face.

Pearce: So I suggest that you two lovebirds start stepping because I have a little something to say, and it goes like this. I am the best damn wrestler in this company, the top draw, the franchise player! And it doesn’t matter if I have go through you, CM Punk, or you, Brent Albright, because in the end, when all is said and done, when the dust has settled, when the smoke has cleared, the Scrap Daddy will be walking out of this ring the SCWR Heavyweight Champion, and that’s the bottom line. Come whatever may, it doesn’t matter, because all ten pounds of that leather and gold are coming straight here around my waist, right where they belong, and there is nothing you, or you, or anyone else in this god damn building can do, to prevent it.

Pearce drops the microphone as ‘Quicksilver’ by The Shining brings out his opponent for the next match, none other than The Anarchist, Doug Williams. Williams purely means business as he walks out to the aisle clutching his black wrist bands, blocking out the cheering fans for full concentration on the upcoming match. Williams hops onto the apron and shortly scans the arena before entering the ring through the ropes. Williams rolls his neck and lightly jumps from side to side, clicking his knuckles while his eyes remain on his opponent for the second Opening Round Super Twelve match of the night.

Super Twelve Tournament Opening Round
Adam Pearce vs Doug Williams
The referee signals for the bell, but Pearce is already busy on his feet, intent on getting the first punch. He paces across the ring to the adjacent turnbuckles, and Doug Williams slowly begins to circle the ring himself. The Anarchist wastes no more time and extends his hand for a test of strength, but Pearce slaps the hand away and runs at his opponent with a jumping knee to the gut. Pearce follows through and attacks Williams with blows to the head before hitting a scoop slam. The Scrap Daddy comes off the ropes and attempts a snap elbow drop, but Williams rolls out of the way and sweeps his leg through, trying to catch the body of a sitting Pearce with a kick. Pearce barely dodges, but is still able to get to a horizontal position before the kick can connect. Williams is on his feet and bounces off the ropes for a snap elbow drop, but Pearce escapes the attack. The roles have been switched this time round, as now Pearce swings his leg at a sitting Williams, who blocks the kick with his hands and locks in a single leg crab to a pop from the crowd.

The Anarchist remains in control, despite some retaliation from Pearce, as we go into the second half of the match, where Williams has Pearce in the Anarchy Assault, delivering multiple knees to his opponent before dropping him with a double knee lift. Pearce remains on his feet and staggers into the ring ropes, bouncing back to be met with a Northern Lights suplex. Williams bridges after the suplex and now has Pearce in a pinning predicament, but the Scrap Daddy is able to kick out just in time. Pearce quickly scrambles to a vertical base and looks to connect with a clothesline to Williams, but The Anarchist swiftly ducks and hits a European uppercut, sending Pearce back into the ropes. The Anarchist bounces Pearce off the ropes and whips him to the opposite side. However, Pearce slides out of the ring instead of rebounding back to Williams and pushes a nearby fan off his seat, taking the steel chair and folding it up. It looks as though the no disqualification rule in Second City Wrestling Revolution is about to come into play in this match, as Pearce enters with his weapon in hand, now not afraid of going face to face with Doug Williams.

Williams orders the referee to disband the foreign object from Pearce, but the referee can do nothing about the steel chair now present in the ring. Pearce nods at himself with a content look on his face, and lashes out at his opponent with the chair, meeting steel with skull! Williams falls to the canvas from the head shot, but Adam Pearce shows no remorse, going at The Anarchist with numerous more swings with the chair. Pearce loosely holds the chair with one hand while slapping Williams around with the other. The fans are filling the Auditorium with jeers, ranting and booing at Scrap Iron Adam Pearce for his dirty tactics. Pearce grabs the chair tightly with both hands now and delivers a finishing shot to the forehead of Williams, busting him wide open. The Anarchist begins to bleed out, his face covered in red in a matter of seconds. Pearce throws the chair down and takes the head of Williams from behind to deepen the cut with sickening right hands to a defenceless figure. Pearce then brings Williams up to his feet and mocks him before sliding him in between his legs to set up for the Piledriver finishing maneuver. Pearce lifts Williams and prepares to drive his opponent down for the finish but Williams struggles out and takes Pearce over with a back body drop! Williams, who can hardly stand, tries to gain his sense of balance, but before he can Pearce lays him out with a big boot to the face after immediately standing back up! Pearce positions Williams in his legs once again and this time lands the Spike Piledriver, delivering it right onto the steel chair! Pearce follows up with a hook of the leg for the three count from the referee.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Freebird’ hits the speakers to a huge wave of boos from the Chicago fans and a ‘fuck you, Adam’ chant, which gradually grows louder. Adam Pearce simply smirks and throws his hands up in the air with a fake look of innocence. He chuckles to himself and exits the ring with his music still playing through the Auditorium as an advertisement for the next Second City Wrestling Revolution show, Insurrection, caches onto the projector screen. ‘The Only’ by Static X plays as the background music to the short clip.

The Second City Wrestling Revolution has begun; the renegades have risen. Now only one thing remains: Insurrection! Come December 11, the stars of SCWR will return to the Lincoln Park Auditorium for one hour of more hybrid wrestling action! Witness the last Opening Round matches of the Super Twelve Tournament for the SCWR Heavyweight Championship, a tag team showdown to remember and much more! Don’t miss out on Insurrection, revolutionising pro wrestling one hold at a time! Tickets will be available online from Saturday 3 and from the concession stands.

The video fades to black and the lights of the Auditorium dim once again to ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’ by the Beastie Boys, which brings out the team of James Maritato and Tony Mamaluke, the Full Blooded Italians for the Four Corner Tag Team Survival match. Maritato and Mamaluke advance down the aisle with Italian flags waving in the air to boos from the crowd. The FBI slides into the ring one by one and capture two turnbuckles, climbing up and proudly waving the flags of their country to the annoyance of the crowd. On the timekeeper’s table lay the SCWR Global Tag Team Championship belts, the gold shining in the spotlight.

The music cuts off and switches to ‘Super Bon Bon’ by Soul Coughing as Dastardly Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill jump out of the curtains for a loud pop from the Chicago fans. Doring races down the aisle and slides into the ring, extending his arms with hands outstretched while Roadkill walks down the aisle with eyes intensely widened. Roadkill enters the ring and poses along with Doring, motioning their hands around their waists with eyes on the prize, the Tag Team Championships.

‘Rock Superstar’ by Cypress Hill hits and out come the Los Maximos, Joel and Jose Maximo in matching wrestling attires of red, black and white. Instead of going down the aisle, they split into opposite directions and circle around the outer seats of the Auditorium, slapping the hands of fans in the back rows then coming in towards the ring. The Los Maximos seem to be one of the fan favourites in this match, as the fans suddenly burst into a ‘Maximo’ chant, making the Full Blooded Italians look around the arena with confused faces.

The final team then emerges from the curtain to ‘Day Dreamin’ Fazes’ by Kottonmouth Kings, the pair of Christian York and Joey Matthews making their way to the ring. The young duo makes a quick entrance, simply running to the ring and climbing the apron before entering through the top and middle ropes. They observe their opponents standing in their respective corners, discussing their tactics and who will be competing first in the match. It looks like Tony Mamaluke, Danny Doring, Joel Maximo and Christian York will be starting off the match as the legal men.

SCWR Global Tag Team Championships
Four Corner Tag Team Survival

FBI vs Doring & Roadkill vs Maximos vs York & Matthews
The referee has a word with all teams before signalling for the match bell to be rung. The bell rings and this bout is now officially underway, with Danny Doring going straight to work on Tony Mamaluke and Joel Maximo striking York with a flying forearm. Maximo picks York up and delivers a stiff chop to the chest, sending York into the corner of the Los Maximos. Doring has done the same and now has Mamaluke in his corner with multiple punches to the side of the head. Maximo and Doring then simultaneously whip their opponents diagonally across the ring, sending York and Mamaluke right into each other. However, Mamaluke is able to knock York down with a clothesline in the middle of the ring, while Joel Maximo makes the first tag of the match to his brother Jose. Doring runs at Mamaluke with a lariat attempt, but Christian York brings Mamaluke to the canvas with a legsweep from down below. Doring misses but sees Jose Maximo approaching and goes for the lariat, but Maximo ducks and turns around to face Doring. Before Jose can make a move, Christian York comes from behind with a double knee backcracker, shaking the ring as it lands! Doring quickly turns around and dropkicks an inattentive York before tagging in his partner, Amish Roadkill for a double elbow drop on Tony Mamaluke.

The fans are really into this fast paced match, as all teams are showing different tactics and wrestling styles. Doring and Roadkill are using strength to overpower their opponents, York and Matthews are being opportunists with unexpected attacks from out of nowhere while the Full Blooded Italians utilise their experience to their advantage with high impact double team maneuvers, and the Los Maximos frequently make tags in order to stay fresh in the match. The first elimination of the match occurs near the ten minute mark, when Doring and Roadkill hit Joey Matthews with the Buggy Bang and cover with a lateral press for the three count. Christian York slides into the ring but it is too late for him to save his partner, as York and Matthews are now not a part of this match. Meanwhile, outside of the ring are the FBI and Los Maximos, battling it out with punches galore as the fans look on from only inches away. After a kick to the gut, Jose Maximo whips Tony Mamaluke into the steel ring post with great force to a pop from the crowd, as Joel takes James Maritato on his shoulder and drops the Sicilian Shooter with Snake Eyes on the ring apron! Jose climbs the apron as Maritato stumbles back, and bounces off the second rope with a springboard moonsault onto Maritato! Joel proceeds to help his brother back up, but from inside the ring comes Danny Doring, shooting through the ropes with a suicide dive, crashing right into the Los Maximos and Maritato! Amish Roadkill watches from the ring, and slowly but surely begins to climb the near turnbuckles, triggering a giant pop from the Chicago fans! Roadkill stands at the top of the ropes and leaps into the air, diving onto the Maximos and Maritato with a gigantic splash and completely flipping the crowd with his huge aerial move!

Just past the fifteen minute mark of the match, the three legal men, Maritato, Joel Maximo and Danny Doring are back in the ring engaged in a three way brawl. Maximo is in the middle of the ring alternating between both Doring and Maritato, who are on opposite sides of him, with hard, knife edge chops. Following a swift elbow to the head, Maximo applies a three quarter facelock to Doring and catches the Sicilian Shooter with head scissors. Maximo twists his body and nails both a hurracanrana and a modified neckbreaker, taking both his opponents down! Jose Maximo is then tagged in and the Los Maximos target Maritato with stomps before lifting and positioning him in the near turnbuckles. The Maximo brothers set up for the Spanish Fly double moonsault slam and get on the top turnbuckles, ready to hit their signature maneuver. However, from the adjacent turnbuckles comes the other half of the FBI, Tony Mamaluke, who purposely pulls down the top rope. Jose Maximo loses his balance and gets hung up on the top rope, while Maritato holds on to Joel and begins to deliver several punches to his defenceless opponent. Mamaluke enters the ring and dips under the legs of Joel Maximo, carrying him on his shoulders for what looks to be a powerbomb. Maritato flies off the top turnbuckle with a lariat on Maximo at the same time that Mamaluke hits the powerbomb in a double team effort. Maritato then picks up Jose Maximo by the hair and hooks the arms from behind, turning him around to land a picture perfect Sicilian Drop! Maritato hooks the leg and grins as the referee’s hand comes down for the three, leaving only the Full Blooded Italians against Doring and Roadkill.

As soon as the Maximos are eliminated, Doring notices the chance for his team to gain the upper hand and attacks Maritato with clubbing blows from the back. Mamaluke attempts to save his partner but in comes Amish Roadkill, knocking Mamaluke down with a shoulder barge. Roadkill lifts Maritato to a vertical base and locks him in a bearhug around the waist as Doring rebounds off the ropes and connects with a lariat takedown to Maritato with the Lancaster Lariat of Lust! The fans cheer on the duo as Doring hits a clothesline on Mamaluke, followed by another. Mamaluke gets to his feet once again, only to run straight into a Bareback Buster shoulder jawbreaker from Doring. Roadkill then places Mamaluke in a wheelbarrow hold while Doring ascends the turnbuckles, posing for the crowd before executing the top rope leg drop for the Buggy Bang! Doring makes the cover and nods his head as the referee counts, but it seems that James Maritato is still in the game, as he races towards Doring to break the pin. But before he can reach his partner, Roadkill steps in and nails a spinning side slam, leaving Mamaluke untouched and giving the well deserved victory to Danny Doring and Roadkill!

The Chicago fans roar with applause as the match comes to an end, with the winners standing tall with their arms raised in the center of the ring. The referee awards the SCWR Global Tag Team Championship belts to Doring and Roadkill, who drape the belts on their shoulders and climb opposite turnbuckles to celebrate. ‘Super Bon Bon’ by Soul Coughing plays through the speakers and the fans of the Lincoln Park Auditorium give all the tag teams a standing ovation for the definite match of the night candidate. The show then takes a ten minute break, giving the fans a chance to buy food and drinks, use the bathrooms, and go backstage to meet their favourite Second City Wrestling Revolution wrestlers for autographs and photos.

The second half of the show is kicked off with none other than Julius Smokes and his client, the Dark City Bandit, Kory Chavis, as ‘Panic’ by Dilated Peoples plays in the background. The empty seats begin to fill up once again, with the fans returning to the Auditorium to see what is in store for them in the second half of Rise of the Renegades. Smokes enters the ring and is handed a microphone to address the crowd, closely followed by Kory Chavis, who patiently waits for his manager to talk.

Smokes: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Julius, the J Train, Smokes is in da house tonight and he be repping the hood with his dawg from da streets, the Dark City Bandit, Kory Chavis baby!

The fans gladly cheer for Smokes and his obnoxious street style attitude, while Kory Chavis stands behind the J Train with his arms folded.

Smokes: Now if ya’ll don’t already know, lemme spell it out for joo! His name is K to the O to the R-Y-C and he be a playah from da NYC, to the H to the A to the V-I-S, in the ring he be a champion you oughtta digress!

Smokes circles the ring and points at all the fans, who cast a very welcoming atmosphere for Smokes and Chavis.

Smokes: Holla if you hear me baby, BRRRRRRAT! Yeah boy!

Smokes switches hands and grabs the microphone with his left hand, doing a little dance with his feet for the crowd, who are constantly cheering him on.

Smokes: Now let me set da record straight on my man Kory Chavis here. He is the most powerful, most intimidating, most dominant force in SCWR, and we challenge, no, we DARE anybody in the back ta walk through dat curtain and –

To cut off Smokes from his open challenge, ‘Mainlining Murder’ by Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards blares over the speakers to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Chavis unfolds his arms and tenses his arms as the figure of Sterling James Keenan emanates to the entrance area with a microphone.

SJK: Listen up you limey crumpet suckers!

Keenan shouts out one of his infamous lines into the microphone, and the fans boo as his voice echoes across the Auditorium. SJK simply grins and keeps his eyes on Chavis and Smokes, who are not pleased in the slightest form with the interruption.

SJK: My name is Sterling James Keenan, the New Wave of professional wrestling! I am the future of this business; I am a man that will one day come to be the champion of champions, the best of the best! But instead of being recognised, instead of being appreciated, I get excluded from the Super Twelve Tournament, and I get bumped off the debut show of the company for a little man off the streets who runs his mouth –

Keenan receives major heat from the crowd and a ‘You Suck’ chant begins to stir.

SJK: Shut the hell up when I’m talking! I’m not going to beat around the bush here, folks! I deserve to be included in this Tournament; I am the prospect of this company, I am the one who will carry this promotion on my shoulders and I’m not going to stand around in the back watching this –

Smokes: Yo yo yo, if it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight we’ll give you, but Julius Smokes ain’t gonna put up with some trash talking punk son of a bitch mouthing off at the J Train! So if you want a piece of the Dark City Bandit, homie, bring yo white ass into this ring and put yo money where yo mouth is!

Sterling James Keenan laughs at Smokes through his gritting teeth, patting down his fur coat before speaking again.

SJK: As tempting as your offer is, homie, I have a better deal. I want to face your boy one on one, right here, right now, for his spot in the Super Twelve Tournament! If you win, I will never walk out of Second City Wrestling Revolution and never come back, but if I win, I take your place in the Opening Round.

The fans like the sound of this idea and pop, obviously supporting Chavis in the match to embarrass Keenan.

SJK: We put it all on the line tonight, at Rise of the Renegades! You wanted a fight; you wanted a challenge, and now you’ve got one.

Chavis gently nods at his manager, and Smokes makes the final call as Sterling James Keenan advances down the aisle with a sly grin on his face.

Smokes: Bring your best then baby!

Keenan drops the microphone and rolls into the ring, taking off his coat and hanging it on the ring post while Julius Smokes exits the ring and stands at the corner of his client. Kory Chavis cracks his knuckles and looks across at his opponent as the referee checks Keenan for any illegal foreign objects. Once the referee is finished, he walks over to Chavis and pats him down to find no hidden weapons on his body.

Super Twelve Tournament Spot on the Line
Kory Chavis vs Sterling James Keenan
The match kicks off with a fierce start, as both competitors meet in the middle of the ring with clubbing blows as soon as the bell sounds. Keenan eventually gains the upper hand after a knee to the side in this full on brawl between the two. SJK battles Chavis with repeated right hands, cornering his opponent in the turnbuckles. The New Wave chops Chavis in the chest, but Dark City Bandit looks unaffected, as he quickly grabs Keenan by the head and throws him into the corner. Chavis reddens the chest of Keenan with an echoing chop, followed by three more knife edge chops to a writhing SJK. Chavis keeps Keenan in the corner with a European Uppercut and walks to the opposite side of the ring, running at his opponent with a turnbuckle clothesline! Keenan drops to a sitting position in the corner from the impact, and Chavis runs at him once again, this time hitting a rugged boot to the face! Chavis takes the arm of SJK and drags him up, hooking the arms for a double underhook Tiger suplex and connecting with the maneuver in the center of the squared circle while Julius Smokes orders him around from ringside!

After being manhandled by Chavis with a gutwrench suplex, Sterling James Keenan starts to make a comeback, repelling the Dark City Bandit with punches to the abdomen. However, Chavis blocks the next punch and chops SJK again in the chest before whipping him off the ropes. Keenan reverses the Irish whip and twists the arm of Chavis while leaving the ropes, then connecting with a dropkick to the knees. Chavis falls to the ground and SJK begins to pummel him with forearms to the back of the head. He applies a front facelock on the canvas and lifts Chavis to his feet with the hold still locked in. Keenan pushes his feet off the second turnbuckle and rotates for a tornado DDT, but Chavis counters the attempt into a modified flapjack, leaning backwards and hanging SJK on the top rope! Keenan rests his head on the top rope for a while to gain his composure, giving Chavis time to get back to a vertical base and surprise Keenan with a scoop slam, landing the move with great force and momentum! He stays on his opponent with a lateral press, but SJK kicks out before the three count. An aggravated Chavis seizes the collar of the referee, complaining about the slow count, but his manager, Julius Smokes enters the ring and calms his beast down.

As the end of the match draws near, both competitors pull out all the stops in order to ensure their victory in this bout. On the far turnbuckles are SJK and Chavis, with the New Wave delivering multiple punches to the head of Chavis. The crowd counts along despite their dislike for Keenan and reach the tenth punch, which triggers Keenan to take his opponent by the neck and drop down, flipping Chavis over with a corner Monkey Flip! Chavis scrambles onto the canvas but is able to successful catch a running SJK with a drop toe hold, following through with a high speed dropkick to the temple. Chavis leaves no room for Keenan to breathe, as he picks him up straight away and whips him off the ropes, signalling for his finishing maneuver! Keenan bounces off the opposite ropes and approaches Chavis, who lifts SJK up high into the air and connects with the sitout spinebuster, the Spinesplitta! The fans count along as the referee brings his hand down for the three, but just when it looks as if the match is over, SJK puts his foot on the bottom rope! The referee explains to Chavis that contact with the rope forces the pin to be broken, infuriating the Dark City Bandit as he pushes the official into the turnbuckle, knocking him out cold. Chavis roars out in anger, giving Keenan the opportunity to come from behind with a low blow! Keenan then swings his opponent around and puts his head through the legs of a pain encrusted Chavis, bringing the Dark City Bandit over for his signature MK Ultra piledriver! SJK drills the head of Chavis into the mat and nudges the referee, who restores his consciousness and counts the pin, giving Keenan the win!

Lightly panting from the match, Keenan grabs a hold of the microphone and laughs with triumph as he will now be replacing Kory Chavis in the Super Twelve Opening Round at Insurrection.

SJK: Now this isn’t just a message, this is a warning, and it goes out to everybody in the back! You have a problem with me, you solve it with me, face to face, man to man. But keep in mind, don’t ever forget, that when you get into this ring with the New Wave, Sterling James Keenan, you will be embraced by the MK Ultra, and you WILL stay, down.

A tired Sterling James Keenan extends his fists towards the crowd, showing the ‘Stay Down’ tattoo imprinted onto his knuckles before rolling out of the ring and raising his arm in a sign of victory. The fans applaud the effort of Kory Chavis and Julius Smokes as they gradually make their way to the back through the alternative exit. Once they have left the arena, the lights weaken and the fans are brought to their feet as ‘Jungle Boogie’ by Kool and the Gang starts to boom out through the speakers, bringing out the next competitor of the Super Twelve Tournament, 2 Cold Scorpio! The crowd bursts into cheers as Scorpio rips through the curtain and pulls a move in the entrance area. He dances down the aisle while slapping hands of fans, taking off his bandana and throwing it into the far crowd. Scorpio rolls into the ring and walks onto the turnbuckles, praising the fans before showing off and landing a backflip off the ropes.

‘Hard Act to Follow’ by Grinspoon then hits to expose the opponent of Scorpio, who turns out to be the Reflection of Perfection, Mark Jindrak when the well built figure of Jindrak gently walks out through the curtain. Jindrak arrogantly smiles and points to his six pack abdomen to boos from the crowd before flexing his arms and travelling down the aisle. Scorpio eagerly jumps from side to side, preparing himself for the match while Jindrak slides into the ring and warms up his arms and legs in his corner.

Super Twelve Tournament Opening Round
2 Cold Scorpio vs Mark Jindrak
The bell rings and Scorpio takes wide strides across the ring, as does Jindrak, before locking up with a short lived collar elbow tie up, which takes direction into the near corner. The referee breaks up the lock up and Scorpio lets go with his hands up in innocence. The two begin to circle the ring again and lock up again in the middle of the ring, both competitors using all their strength and spinning in the tie up as they switch positions. Scorpio is backed up into the ropes and the referee once again comes in to break up the contact. Jindrak steps away with his hands up in the air this time, but suddenly lashes out at Scorpio with a cold slap to the face! Scorpio pushes the self proclaimed Reflection of Perfection, who retaliates with an outbreak of right and left hands. Jindrak bounces his opponent off the ropes, but Scorpio reverses and whips Jindrak to the opposite ropes, dropping to his abdomen on the canvas. Jindrak leaps over Scorpio and rebounds off the ropes, running at Scorpio, who then splits his legs and jumps up for Jindrak to go under. However, instead of continuing to run, Jindrak stops and waits for Scorpio to come down, dropkicking him in the back and sending him forward into the ropes. The Reflection of Perfection takes Scorpio around the waist and rolls back with him for a pinning predicament, but only for a short one count.

Despite the early advantage for Mark Jindrak, 2 Cold Scorpio manages to maintain his territory of dominance in the match, knocking down his opponent with a flying cross body in the ring. Going into the second half of the match, Scorpio only gets a two count with his pin and brings Jindrak up into a standing position. Scorpio walks backwards into the ropes and bounces off for a clothesline, but Jindrak ducks and locks the arm, taking a hold of the other arm as well for a Full Nelson lock! Scorpio tries to get out of the hold but to no avail, as Jindrak throws him overhead with a picture perfect Dragon suplex! Jindrak poses for the crowd and puts a cocky grin on his face, placing Scorpio between his legs and setting him up for a powerbomb. Jindrak wraps his arms around the waist of Scorpio and lifts him onto his shoulders, but Scorpio resists with punches to the head before twisting his body for a head scissors takedown, sending Jindrak over and out of the ring! The crowd pops for Scorpio, who comes off the ropes on the opposite side of the ring and leaps over the top rope with a corkscrew Scorpio Twister! However, instead of taking down Jindrak, Scorpio is caught in midair on the shoulder of his opponent, who swings Scorpio off the shoulder and hits a side slam, connecting with a modified version of the Mark of Excellence on the outer ring area!

Jindrak focuses on the back of Scorpio after hitting his signature maneuver, with elbows and dropkicks to the spine of a worn out 2 Cold Scorpio. The Reflection of Perfection slaps Scorpio around in a sign of utter disrespect and shows off his strength by holding Scorpio up in a vertical suplex. Jindrak then slams his opposition down with a hard suplex, shaking the ring as he and Scorpio land. Jindrak again poses, flexing his biceps to admire his own body while still looking for any signs of movement by Scorpio. The fans jeer at Jindrak, who elevates Scorpio to his feet and puts his head under Scorpio’s arm, getting ready to hit the Mark of Excellence again, this time in the ring, to finish the match. Jindrak hauls Scorpio up and attempts to transition the back suplex into a side slam, but Scorpio flips back and slides out of Jindrak’s grasp out of nowhere, landing a back suplex on Jindrak himself! The crowd chants ‘Scorpio’ as he climbs the turnbuckles one by one, standing on the top ropes and taunting the fans. Scorpio takes all of his remaining energy and jumps forward with a 450 splash, nailing the Reflection of Perfection with the innovated Scorpio Splash! Scorpio does a dance over the fallen figure of Jindrak for the fans before hooking the leg and watching the referee hit the canvas for the three count.

2 Cold Scorpio bobs his head to ‘Jungle Boogie’ by Kool and the Gang and celebrates with the fans, going into the crowd after having his arm raised by the referee. Meanwhile, Jindrak sits upright in the ring and looks on enraged, slamming his fists on the mat in disappointment of his loss. Another advertisement for SCWR Insurrection appears on the projector screen while Jindrak leaves the ring. A short while later, the sound of ‘Come With Me’ by Puff Daddy fills the arena and introduces the King of Old School, Steve Corino to the Lincoln Park Auditorium, who is met with a sea of jeers as he makes his entrance. Corino goes to the timekeeper’s table and snatches a microphone from one of the ring technicians before climbing onto the apron and ordering the referee to pull down the second rope for him to enter the ring.

Corino: For those of you that don’t know, or are just too damn thick headed to remember, let me remind you of who exactly I am!

The fans disapprove of this comment, but Corino ignores the constant booing and continues.

Corino: I am the King of Old School, Steve Corino! I am the GOD of professional wrestling; I am the saviour of SCWR and the best damn thing that ever happened to this company! But tonight, it’s not about me proving that I truly am what I say I am. Tonight, it’s not about Steve Corino taking the spotlight once again and selling out crowds. No, tonight is about making an impact, making a mark! Tonight is about making the first impression and sending a message to every single person in the back and in this arena!

Corino scoops his hand through his hair and takes a short pause on the microphone to scan the crowd.

Corino: So let me make this crystal clear for every soul in this building to understand! Tonight marks the beginning of a revolution, because tonight, the renegades will indeed rise here tonight! So I extend my hand to everyone in the back, to join The Uprising, to join the King of Old School, Steve Corino in what will become one of the most revolutionary movements in the history of professional wrestling! I am a man of my word, a man that keeps his promises no matter what the circumstances, so mark my words when I say this, you’re either with me, or against me. And if you decide to stand in our way, if you decide to defy The Uprising, I promise, I guarantee that we will make your life a LIVING HELL!

The King of Old School puts the microphone down and kicks it to the ring apron as ‘Deepest Bluest’ by LL Cool J begins to play, unveiling his partner in crime, The Enforcer, CW Anderson from the entrance curtain, who raises his hands in the air to form the ‘CW’ sign. Anderson pulls the sign right in front of a fan’s face mockingly, raising the hackles of the Chicago crowd to the enjoyment of Steve Corino, who meets Anderson in the middle of the aisle. Corino slaps Anderson on the chest for motivation and sends his partner into the ring for the long awaited main event.

Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are’ hits to the loudest pop of the night, as the lights completely black out momentarily, before switching back on to reveal Raven standing in the entrance area with his back to the crowd and his arms outstretched. The lights flicker and when they come back on, Raven is facing the fans to another huge pop, scanning the Auditorium with his charismatic eyes. Raven silently walks down the aisle, scouting The Enforcer, CW Anderson with his eyes, as well as giving close attention to Steve Corino. Raven enters the ring and executes his signature pose with his arms, taking off his trench coat and dropping it out of the ring.

Main Event
Super Twelve Tournament Opening Round

CW Anderson vs Raven
Corino looks on from ringside as Anderson and Raven engage in a collar elbow lock up in the center of the ring to begin the match. Anderson gets onto his knees before slipping behind Raven and wrapping his arms around the waist. The Enforcer ducks an elbow and immediately goes to action, lifting and flipping Raven to slam him facing down into the canvas. Hard blows to the back of the head set the crowd off, with the Lincoln Park Auditorium exploding with jeers at Anderson. Following several forearm smashes to the neck, Anderson tucks Raven’s chin in his hands and applies pressure to the neck with his knee, shouting out in intensity for more heat. Anderson drives his knee into the spine of Raven before switching body position and orientating himself for a sleeper hold. Raven slowly fades away, his head becoming weak and face turning red, but the sound of fans clapping in unison and chanting his name snaps him back. Raven sends the wind out of Anderson with an elbow thrust to the gut and, looking for a way to escape the hold, scoops Anderson up from the side and lands a sidewalk slam.

Raven dominates for a large portion of the bout now, gaining momentum after connecting with a back suplex and a successful fist drop to the forehead of his fallen opponent. By this time, Corino has entered the ring and waits for Raven to rise from the fist drop, looking to hit the Old School Lariat to give Anderson an advantage. The King of Old School runs at Raven and shoots his arm out for the attack, but Raven moves out of the way just in time for Corino to take down his own partner, CW Anderson! This leads into a brawl between Raven and Corino, the two men exchanging endless rights and lefts to the head. Raven finds an opening and hits a knee lift right to the jaw to the surprise of Corino, as he staggers back with an irate look on his face. Corino charges at Raven once again to attempt his finisher but Raven throws the King of Old School over the top rope, sending him crashing down into the outer ring area. Raven extends his arms out and receives a huge ovation from the pumped up fans, but his celebration is cut off short, as a recovered CW Anderson takes the waist of Raven and nails a picture perfect German suplex. Anderson is in the driver’s seat once again, continuing his assault by stomping down on his opponent, with no sense of respect whatsoever.

A solid fifteen minute match has the fans on the edge of their seat in anticipation for which man is going to advance in the Super Twelve Tournament here in the main event. In the final minutes of the bout we witness a back and forth transact of attacks from each competitor. Raven kicks Anderson in the mid section to the annoyance of Steve Corino, who is back in his place at ringside, and sets up for a Russian legsweep. He connects and gets the crowd ready for the Evenflow DDT, taking Anderson by the head and bringing him back up. Raven forces Anderson under his arm and looks to make the final touch, but Anderson counters and nails the Spinning Anderson Spinebuster from out of nowhere! He pins Raven with a lateral press and it looks like the match has gone Anderson’s way, but Raven manages to kick out before the referee can hit the mat for the three count! The Enforcer cannot believe what he has just seen; neither can his partner Corino, as Raven simply sits back up after moments of cheering from the fans. Raven pulls on the ropes and gets back to his feet, only for Anderson to unleash a flurry of jabs at him. The infamous Anderson Left is coming, as the Enforcer prepares his fist for the knockout punch, but Raven blocks with his arm and retaliates with a punch of his own. Anderson remains in his spot, dazed, while Raven comes off the ropes and topples his opponent with a flying clothesline. Raven successfully executes the Evenflow DDT this time, and hooks the leg of CW Anderson to have his arm raised with a very hard fought victory!

Raven celebrates to ‘Come As You Are’, spreading out his arms for his signature pose to be confronted with a standing ovation from the Chicago fans. Raven climbs the turnbuckle and stretches his arms to each side again, but the night is still young for the CW Anderson and Steve Corino, as the Enforcer leaps onto the same turnbuckle and takes Raven over with a German suplex! Steve Corino then slides into the ring with a table while Anderson continues to beat down Raven. Anderson kicks Raven in the back with a sickening thud and starts to choke him with the middle rope. The King of Old School places the table in the middle of the ring and assembles the legs as Anderson drags Raven towards it.

Corino: The Uprising has begun!

The King of Old School drives the microphone into the head of Raven, who is being held up by Anderson! Both Corino and Anderson then nod at each other before knocking Raven straight down with a Double Superkick! Raven bounces off the ropes behind him and is met with a Spinning Anderson Spinebuster from the Enforcer, driving Raven through the set up table! These two, now known as The Uprising, have completely brutalised Raven and proudly taunt the fans to deafening heat, exiting the ring one by one to leave a fallen and motionless Raven in the ring surrounded by pieces of the broken table. The SCWR logo then appears on the screen with ‘Take the Power Back’ by Rage Against the Machine playing across the Auditorium to conclude the show.
