What are the scariest horror films out there? This doesn't have to necessarily be the best horror film, just the scariest. It could be classic, recent, foreign language, doesn't matter, just what movies scared the shit out of you?

When I was a kid, nothing scared me more than Freddy Krueger..... Today, anything based on true events will tend to creep me out, the real world is far more frightening than anything Hollywood can dream up

I really liked REC, but only the spanish version, not the English remake 'Quarantine'.

Weird and creepy stuff scares me more than conventional blood and guts horrors do. Most of David Lynch's films are eerie and dark. It's an open secret that Japanese do great stuff too.

REC was awesome, but then they went and screwed everything up in REC 2.

Guinea Pig: The Devil's Experiment creeped me out to no end. Just one long ass torture scene with absolutely amazing special effects. The needle in the eye at the end has left one lasting impression on me, and even just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: My favorite horror film of all time. Some of the sequels could be missed, but this one takes the psychological thriller to a whole nother level.

Yeah in recent years I'd go with REC.

I'll throw out Candyman for this thread though.

Jesus Camp, even though I don't thnk it was intedned to be scary, but nothing has ever creeped me out than watching that fat women indoctrinate children with hate speech at a bible camp.

I think the scariest film I've seen was Ringu, the original Japanese version of The Ring, a fantastically terrifying film.

I absoultely love horror movies but as far as scary goes, when I was a kid I was deathly afraid of Chucky or all dolls of that size really. My brother had a My Buddy and my cousin had a Kid Sister and they used to scare the crap out of me. I used to have nightmares as a kid and run and sleep with my parents. One day they had enough and sat the My Buddy doll outside my room on a chair to make sure I did even think about running out of the room. I'm fine now haha.

The english remake of Ringu, The Ring (obviosuly) was the last horror movie to scare me. I remember just laying in bed staring at my TV and hoping it wouldn't come on. Ah childhood.

"Evil Dead II" This is the movie that made Bruce Campbell a B-movie icon and won Sam Raimi a whole lot more directing gigs. This films has equal parts humor and gore, but when the frights happen, they happen on a grand scale. Ever wondered what it would be like to fight your own hand? You won't have to wonder anymore after watching this movie.
