Samuray Del Sol Signs with WWE

SuperLuchas.net is reporting that a source close to them has confirmed that Mexican American independent wrestler Samuray del Sol has officially signed with WWE. According to the report, he will be headed to WWE developmental shortly.

He is billed as being the same height as Mysterio but heavier, pretty bulky for a short luchadore. Haven't seen too much of his work but have heard a lot of good things. Maybe this is their backup in case Sin Cara continues his bad run with injuries/suspension.

Thoughts on Del Sol?

hope he can adjust to the WWE style better than Sin Cara, or maybe put the 2 together at first since Cara did his best work as part of the team with Mysterio

He has wrestled in the US a lot more than Sin Cara had before he was signed so he should be used to the style a bit more. Plus there is no way that he will go straight to the main roster like Sin Cara did, he will go through developmental first and become accustomed to the WWE style and then we will see if he can make it out of developmental.

Ugh. WWE needs luchadores who have worked in other places than Mexico, seen a little of his work on Fight Network and didn't see much from a small guy who doesn't pick his spots correctly, plus he does the classic luchadores shit that makes it look phony as fuck. Better more time in developmental than Mistico.

If he is the same height as Mysterio, that's one impressive physique.

With Deezy saying he was on Fight Network, I am enclined to believe I have seen atleast one of his matches, but to be honest the only ones I can even remember are Pequeno Black Warrior & Bracito de Oro(who are both Minis).

Kip-up head scissors could get over easily, and would fit right in with the WWE style. Asides from that, I really couldn't see much else that he could use frequently that could set him apart from Sin Cara or Rey, but to be completely fair, that is only clips from a tag match.

But damn, I have gone back and watched those kip-ups 3 times now. Simple, safe, yet highly athletic, and aesthetically pleasing. Something you don't expect to see a lot of from the Lucha types.

Mistico was a huge signing, they had a press conference to announce it, so it was a special circumstance. He would have been one of those that said he would sign only if he could skip developmental. This is just a regular signing so he will have to go through developmental to prove himself first.

That video was a bit odd. Starts with some dancing and then flip, flip, no sell, flip, no sell, flip, flip. He did some nice moves but I guess it is tough to judge just from a highlights package.

It will be a shame if they get rid of that mask though, such a good look.

I didn't see much from that match from him that really made him stand out. God, I wanna go Cork on how Flippy bullshit that indy match was, and I like the flippy bullshit lol.

Haven't seen any of his matches, so I'm gonna have to look him up, but for what it's worth he looks fucking badass to say the least.

Though I can almost guarantee he's not going to have that badass name when he appears on WWE television. They'll probably slap him with a simpler Spanish-sounding nickname that's easier to spell.

Guess this might also be a sign that the Sin Cara experiment is reaching it's end.

Can't really say much else. WWE haven't had much success with luchas in the past though.

Seems like a move to give them another shot at replacing Rey as Sin Cara hasn't been able to take burden in stride to this point. Pretty much any lucha who comes in WWE is going to have that pressure since Rey is pretty much at the end of the road of his career not being able to stay healthy.
