John Cena

Cena won the US title from The Big Show on March 14th 2004 at Wrestlemania XX. He was stripped of the title on the July 8th 2004 Smackdown after attacking General Manager Kurt Angle. He won his 2nd title from Booker T in the final of a Best of Five Series on October 3rd 2004 at No Mercy. He lost the title to Carlito on the October 7th 2004 Smackdown. He won the title back from Carlito on the November 18th 2004 Smackdown. He lost the title to Orlando Jordan on the March 3rd 2005 Smackdown.

Kurt Angle

Angle won the US title from Rhyno on the October 22nd 2001 Raw. He lost the title to Edge on the November 12th 2001 Raw.

Even though Cena was terrible as US Champion he was carried to some decent matches by Booker T and the title was used as something to build him up, Angle wasn't given anything to do with the belt, and at the time, it was just a WCW title which didn't mean anything.

Cena by a lot. Angle was already over, Cena was being built.

Cena gets my vote as well. Angle held the title for a couple of weeks and so didn't have much time to do anything as champion. Cena had some good matches as champion and it really helped get him to the mainevent.
