I too hope to see both these, some exciting talent involved and a great chance for both promotions to push their rosters. Also, finally ROH will solve their long running IPPV issues, in which case win-win.

Michael Bennett w/ Maria Kanellis
reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish)
The Decade (Roderick Strong, BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs) w/ Tadarius Thomas
ACH
Cedric Alexander

Extremely disappointing.

Feels like New Japan are playing it safe with this card, which I find kind of strange. I'm guessing we'll get some interpromotional matches at War of the Worlds, but I don't see why they wouldn't do the same with this show. Pretty bad for Toronto, I'm sure they expected more than what feels like a warm up to the show in NYC.

WAR OF THE WORLDS on Saturday May 17th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City will be an unforgettable night for wrestling fans. This event will see ROH talent face off against New Japan talent in a true war between two worlds. ROH and New Japan officials have decided which competitors from their respective organizations they want to see face off against one another. We are thrilled to announce these rare encounters:

ROH & NJPW Present: WAR OF THE WORLDS
Saturday, May 17th, 2014 – 7:30PM
The Hammerstein Ballroom – New York City

ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Winner of Adam Cole vs. Kevin Steen from GLOBAL WARS (ROH) vs. Jushin “Thunder” Liger (NJPW)

It will certainly be a historic contest as ROH’s top wrestler defends his World Championship against the legendary Jushin Liger. Will Liger change the international landscape of professional wrestling by becoming the ROH World Champion? Or will Adam Cole/Kevin Steen walk out of New York with the gold and add this huge win to their list of accomplishments?

IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
"Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada vs. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin (ROH)
**5/3 in Fukuoka, Japan Kazuchika Okada defends the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles. The winner of that match will defend against Michael Elgin on May 17th

Elgin earned his IWGP Heavyweight Championship opportunity by defeated Kevin Steen at Supercard of Honor 8. With Elgin obsessed on winning World Championships, will his New Japan dream finally come true? Or can Okada defend his gold on American soil?

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Champions: The Young Bucks (Bullet Club) vs. reDRagon (ROH)

The Young Bucks shocked fans by capturing the ROH World Tag Championships from reDRagon a few months ago. reDRagon has already earned their championship rematch and looks for redemption against the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team and ROH World Tag Team Champion Young Bucks. reDRagon has been ruthless in the ring since losing the gold. Will they get back the championships that they held for the better part of last year? Or will The Young Bucks prove that what happened a few months back was not an upset or fluke?

IWGP WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Champions: Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows (Bullet Club) vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe (ROH)

The Briscoes are 8 time ROH World Tag Team Champions. Can they add the IWGP World Tag Team Titles to their list of accomplishments? Or will the big man tag team of Anderson and Gallows retain?

ROH WORLD TV CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion: Jay Lethal w/ Truth Martini (ROH) vs. KUSHIDA (NJPW)

Shinsuke Nakamura (NJPW) vs. Kevin Steen or Adam Cole (ROH)

Hiroshi Tanahashi (NJPW) vs. Michael Bennett w/ Maria Kanellis (ROH)

Also Signed to Appear

Gedo & Jado (NJPW)
The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) (NJPW)
Takaaki Watanabe (NJPW)
The Decade (Roderick Strong, BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs) w/ Adam Page (ROH)
ACH (ROH)
Matt Taven (ROH)
Cedric Alexander (ROH)
Tommaso Ciampa (ROH)
Silas Young (ROH)
Caprice Coleman (ROH)

War of the Worlds card is better but... Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Mike Bennett?! Bennett has grown on me over the past couple of months but he in no way deserves to face the biggest star in New Japan.

Can't say I'm impressed with Cole vs. Liger either. The rest looks good to me though, at least.

Does feel a bit underwelming. And agree with that Bennett is not ready for that sort of shot yet. But overall given how hot new Japan are right now it should prove a worth while event and could help ROH attract a few extra fans. Think I will give the second show a watch at least.

Just shows you how thin that ROH roster is compared to New Japans. they'd rather book their talent against their talent because ROH has a bunch of green nobodies.

I don't know where you're getting this idea that the majority of the roster is so green. There was more than enough talent to use over the two shows - Styles, Steen, Cole, O'Reilly, Fish, Elgin. For some reason they've just booked some really underwhelming matches.

The New Japan vs. New Japan matches especially just seem like a waste. Go with Tanahashi vs. Nakamura, Okada vs. Styles, not two tag team matches.

New Japan obviously not wanting to lower their stars stock by pairing them up against nobodies....This isn't Joe/Kopbashi dream matches you can book with that ROH roster. Isn't Steen on his way out? Cole and Elgins work look like shit, yeah, I've seen it, almost as bad as Jay Lethal imo. And who the fuck is Fish?

Aren't they essentially lowering their stock anyway by settling for ROH to pair with? Might as well book their talent against ROH's top talent while they're at it.

I don't think the matches booked is about any of that anyway. I imagine they just wanted Their owns guys facing off against each other in Toronto, and then interpromotional matches in New York. My main problem is that most of the matches booked over those two shows are just underwhelming. They might still be good shows overall, but I still think it's feels like a missed opportunity.

Bobby Fish, he teams with O'Reilly. He's really solid in the ring, easily could have hung with the likes of Liger or Okada.

ROH could've rented a bigger arena in Toronto, pretty wrestling crazy and no doubt would sell out to see Okada and Tanahashi live.

Considering this is one of a very few times you get to see NJPW guys in Canada, they definitely could have gone with something better, but it is larger than the usual convention center they get.

Hope to get my tickets Wednesday for this.

The last two ROH PPV's have been amazing.

The Young Bucks vs. rED Dragon match was one of the best I have ever seen.

So glad I discovered ROH, it truly is leagues above TNA.
