That was such a Southern argument until you mentioned Darwin.

More like they don't believe in mental diseases that they can't see because that's the stuff God handles. I just found it funny because I never get to hear anyone mix beliefs like your last post because you gotta' believe everything Fox News says here, so your last line wouldn't have worked out very well.

Yes, lets feel sad for everyone BUT the person who died? How selfish they are for making ME feel bad...

Circular logic.

He made that choice. That's the situation.

He left a crater, and it's the people who knew him who have to pick up the pieces and try fill it.....That is the sad part.

It's sad yes....for the people who have to live in the aftermath with such a selfish act as suicide. Depression is a terrible affliction, but let's not act like it's this thing that you can't treat. This isn't cancer.

Yeah, it can be treated, but it's hardly something that just requires some medication to fix you right up. It's a mental illness, not a sore throat.

Boo fucking hoo you have a sob story....Everyone in the world has one. Most deal with it like grown ups. Depression is such a western society condition. Do we ever hear anything about people in countries with wars, famine or genocide suffering from depression? One would think those problems would give you some REAL blues.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate

Fairly mixed, right?

Easy way out, a selfish move and you don't fix anything by killing yourself. Only thing ignorant is those people with depression who think killing themselves is a good option....fuck em. Darwin sorted them out.

... Yeah, I don't even know how to respond to that. That's a very extreme point of view that can't really be changed from a few paragraphs.

Religion is a mental illness tbh.

Just think Western culture over analyze themselves and this is what we get as a result. Seems like there are a bunch of Ravens out there crying around, asking "What about me?"

It is true that when a person decides to commit suicide his loved ones will mourn. It is one thing to recognize and regret that, however it takes something else for people in this thread to say things like "He deserves no respect because of how he died". About one of the greatest comedians and contributors to comedy no less.

Then I think you went overboard by comparing people with anxiety in the first world with people suffering in poverty stricken countries. You wonder why more people with depression don't speak up while simultaneously saying the things that make them feel guilty for having that depression. Are we still not passed "Man the fuck up" as a treatment for mental health yet?

Here's an article just published on the exact topic we're discussing:

http://www.theguardian.com/science/...cide-and-depression-are-not-selfish?CMP=fb_gu

It describes how we confuse the word "depression" as feeling kinda down rather than a clinical condition that can take hold of anyone, the difficulty of explaining depression to a non-sufferer using logic (depression doesn't need to be logical), and the harm and hypocrisy of labeling sufferers as selfish.

Don't give me an opinion blog and expect it to change MY opinion. Not exactly a credible medical journal.

To me, it's an a bullshit act that creates more problems than it solves...I've known a lot of people who killed themselves. I've seen the aftermath far too many times to think the person who killed themselves were the real victims. I'm sure they've all had their reasons, but it doesn't make me feel sympathy for any of them.

Because I should treat an idiot who decides that taking their own life is some kind of superior being and not the piece of shit dirtbag that they are. Explains Cobain ffs.

Good actor, piece of shit human being who proved to ultimately be a waste of space.

And before people go preaching about depression, I have suffered from it in the past, and guess what. its as simple as occupying the mind and preventing boredom. TV & videogames in moderation, be active, be social, get over it.

How exactly would killing himself make him a waste of space? I don't understand that argument when I at least follow the others and understand the opinions. It's not like he didn't do anything while he was alive, if he didn't then I could see how you could say he was a waste of space.

Also even by this "fuck you suicide pussies" logic, I don't think that one decision makes him a piece of shit human being. It was a bad decision, yes and he hurt a lot of people from it, but there's no way it completely negates his life. In 50 years people are going to still more than likely enjoy his movies, and when someone asks what happened to him, they'll just say "Oh he killed himself" and shrug it off, "But he sure was fucking hilarious." Suicide is not his legacy...for this generation of people maybe but for the next that watch his movies, they won't care at all.
