Maybe I'm a doofus but it doesn't look like we have a general ROH thread? Well, that changes today! (or we just got a second one).

Final Battle just passed. I don't watch ROH all that much these days and I was really hoping Final Battle would inspire something in me to watch it more regularly but I am no so much sold. It was a solid night of action but this company feels like such a departure from the ROH of old. And honestly, there's a bunch of acts going right now that are making me NOT want to watch, and not too many that make me want to watch. I like some of the newer acts, like the guys in Lifeblood, RUSH and Jonathan Gresham. They all feel perfectly suited for what ROH is, traditionally, all about. But all around, the roster is not my bag.

And Final Battle really has me weary about continuing to check for ROH because

PCO fucking won the ROH World Championship from RUSH. RUSH's first fucking loss in the company. To gotdamn PCO!!! Dude is a cool little shock value special attraction but gtfo with making the World Champion, Jesus.

Anyways... so feel free to chat ROH here. Are there any actual current ROH fans about these parts? I'd love to hear y'all's perspective on that.

Is that legit? That was dumb when they made it their main event and now he's actually won?

I don’t watch ROH regularly, but my man Tyler Bateman being there makes me want to try and give it a shot. I also want to watch for Brody King, if he and Bateman reform their tag team I just might become a regular fan.

I like Marty Scurll a lot too but I’m thinking he’s AEW bound.

Scurll is the main reason whenever I do decide to give them another look.

Him leaving to go to AEW or NXT or even Impact would kill ROH for me, probably.

Unless I've missed it posted somewhere I haven't see anyone here mentioned the Marty Scurll news. Huge for him really with a seven figure contract and joining the booking team. Would have loved to have seen him in AEW but I quite like how a real star has stuck in ROH, gives people a reason to still watch.

Decided to sticky this as ROH has Supercard of Honor coming up in a few months which is a big show for them

Supercard of Honor is a couple of months away but it's already looking promising with the announcement that Will Ospreay, Jay White and KENTA will be competing.

I would be surprised if Nick Aldis didn't defend his title as well.

Ring of Honor is bringing back the Pure Championship!

A tournament to crown the first Pure Champion in nearly 14 years begins with first-round matches at Pure Excellence in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, April 10 and Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 11.

Tickets for both Pure Excellence shows go on sale Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. ET for HonorClub members and Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. ET for the general public.

The Pure Title was created in 2004. In matches contested under Pure rules, closed-first punches were illegal, and each competitor was allowed three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match; after that, pinfalls and submission holds on or under the ropes would be legal.

AJ Styles defeated CM Punk in a tournament final to become the first Pure Champion. The title subsequently was held by stars such as Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal and Nigel McGuinness. In August 2006, then-ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson defeated McGuinness to unify the titles.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Will Ospreay created a buzz Twitter recently when he expressed his love for the ROH Pure Championship and said it “would be cool if they brought it back with updated rules.”

The official ROH Twitter account replied by asking, “Should we bring it back?” and the response from fans was a resounding yes.

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to witness history in the making in Columbus and Pittsburgh!

Damn it been 14 years since that unification match?

:rusevdead

I could see Jonanthan Gresham becoming the inaugural champ. Maybe Tracy Williams or Joe Hendry. There are a few good candidates but I'd go with Gresham.

I guess it feels accurate to me bc it got unified before I ever started watching ROH so I never really knew the title besides rewatches.

Yeah Gresham was the first guy that came into my head when I heard the news. Whoever wins the Pure Title they'll carry with pride no doubt.

RING OF HONOR NEWS AND NOTES
By Mike Johnson on 2020-06-18 12:35:00

This weekend's Ring of Honor TV will focus on Bandido.

Ring of Honor has released the Best of 2019 Volume 4 on DVD.

Ring of Honor announced the following:

Best in the World, one of ROH’s marquee pay-per-views since 2011, was supposed to take place on Friday, June 19. That obviously won’t be happening, so ROH has put together a special compilation pay-per-view at a discounted price consisting of seven of the very best matches from prior Best in the World events.

“The Very Best of Best in the World” features matches from past and present ROH stars and includes commentary from current ROH stars as they watch along. The show, which also streams live for all HonorClub members, is available on pay-per-view for $14.99.

Here’s the “Very Best of Best in the World” lineup:

* Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly in a Hybrid Fighting Rules Match (2012)

* Kevin Steen vs. Matt Hardy in a No-Disqualification Match (2013)

* ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe vs. ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal in a Winner Take All Match (2015)

* Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong (2016)

* ROH World Television Champion KUSHIDA vs. Marty Scurll (2017)

* ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. The Young Bucks (2018)

* ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises vs. LifeBlood (2019)

Some great matches in this.
