Well I'll be damned. Didn't see it coming, despite how wishy washy he's been booked on the main roster. Figured he was in it for the long haul.

I'm not shocked at all granted with his love life it makes things complicated but he wants do something new and go on another journey somewhere else. We will all be watching where he goes for sure now.

I never been a huge Ricochet fan.

I think he's probably accomplished everything he realistically could be in WWE. I mean great in ring wrestler but, he's not very good on the mic at all and honestly don't see him ever breaking into main Event scene in WWE. So kudos on himself to leave and go elsewhere he will likely do great work outside of E as well.

That said his in ring gear was always unique and that flip to outside to Dream was cool.

There is a bunch of great matches he could have in AEW, I hope things go well for him and Samantha when he leaves though.

Didn’t see this coming.

But you guys are right in the sense that he’s gone as high as he’s going to go in WWE. I wish him the best moving forward.

That Ospreay/Rick O Shea match will be fire

I'd go as far to say his ceiling is the same in either company tbh and that's a fun, flippy midcard guy.
Yeah don't know how he expects to standout in AEW with a roster where the majority can do anything he can do.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that “according to those close to the situation, everything is up in the air.”

The initial PWInsider report had cited multiple sources in stating the 35-year-old had told WWE he was not coming back after his current deal was up. Since that report, this is the first indication that might not be the case.

the big tell this was happening was ospreay talking about him a few weeks ago.

i like ricochet alot. there's nobody else like him on the wwe roster so losing him will suck.

with that said, my hope is that he improves on the following:

  1. promo/charisma - maybe aew will give him a manager?
  2. power/impact - he moves around like a ballerina in the ring. smooth and easy flow to his moves...but that also makes it a bit choreographed and there's no impact to his strikes. he's just floating around like a butterfly and his moves connect like a butterfly.
he'll put on some really cool matches in aew. my guess is he will get a big push when he arrives and then about 2-3 months into his run, he will settle into the midcard tier that he's basically in now.

with ricochet departing, that high flyer midcard slot is now open - which should really benefit andrade and dragon lee. and in a non-related unrealistic fantasy booking POV, this is gonna end up being a trade between AEW and WWE: ricky starks for richochet.

I know people are jumping at him to be in AEW, and there's history with him and Ospreay (Maybe Ospreay officially forms his United Empire offshoot in America with Ricochet as the fourth member with Ospreay and Aussie Open?)

But I think he'd do well with a little time to spread his wings elsewhere to get his name the extra luster. He could return to NJPW's Jr Heavyweight division and be a great Jr Heavyweight champion, or X-Division Champion in TNA (that I recommend actually to maybe give him a chance to flesh out his mic skills).

I'm not disagreeing that would be a great run for us as fans, but he's voluntarily turning down a WWE contract, not being released, so I imagine AEW is the only reason why

I’m not too surprised he’ll be leaving, more power to him to go elsewhere and be happy wherever he goes.

One thing I think that's a long shot but would absolutely rule is him having a CMLL run while they're still so hot
