Well, this is a tough question.
He got injured in october 06... Since then, he only came back for a stint after summerslam, and then after Unforgiven, he was injured again, and wont be back until sebtember/ctober this year. Thats two whole years out of the picture except for a few months in the middle.
Now, before he was injured, from around april 2005 til his injury, he was a top Main Eventer for the first time really. I mean, before that, tons of fans loved him, but he was like a Jeff Hardy where he was one of the most popular guys, just not a main eventer. Back then he was mostly in the tag or cruiserweight divisions. However, then he became a top guy in the WWE. So my question is, when he comes back, do you see him returning to the main event? If so, is it because he deserves it and is a real top main eventer, or because of the lack of starpower on Smackdown?
What division do you see him fitting into when he comes back...

I bet he is going to the main event status, all theres left for SD! is the taker/edge fued and that one is starting to get a bit old.

He will be a main eventer but I've never been comfortable with him in that division.

Theres no doubt that he's the greatest wrestler in the cruiserweight division but that doesn't mean you move up to heavyweight.

If he fought The Undertaker or Batista in real life there is not a chance in hell he would be able to beat them.

It creates an imbalance. They want to push everyone into the World title division when its already overcrowded. This subsequently means that the Intercontinental, US, Cruiserweight & Tag divisions become second class.

People don't care about the former titles anymore because as soon as we get a wrestler with half a personailty and a bit of wrestling ability they're taken away from us and stuck in the World title division, going nowhere.

Really do we need about 15 wrestlers competing for 2 belts? It seems ludicrous to me. I'm all for a competitive heavyweight division but not at the expense of every other division.

Half the wrestlers on the roster nowadays do not even have a belt to realistically compete for. Then people who should be main eventers like Chris Jericho are hogging the Intercontinental belt.

I would like the Cruiserweight division to come back ideally with Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, John Morrison, Funaki, Shannon Moore, Jamie Noble, Gregory Helms, Kofi Kingston etc. but that'll never happen.

This is the difference between the Attitude era and today. Wrestlers should be popular in divisions outside of the World title picture.

i really didnt like him in the title picture, he was much better suited in the cruiserweight title picture where he can fly around and be with some of the people he works with good, chavo Gurairro, gregory helms and possibly shannon moore. his feud with edge have not been impressive but he has charisma and can entertain and make the fans cheer. as to whether he should be fighting for the world title or not i believe no. to be honest he is 165 pounds and small. and the only reason he was given the championship and the main event spot is because of eddie gurrairo and the fact there was not many superstars in the smackdown locker room to apply to that job. rey mysterio to me will never be worth being in the main event.

Big Show vs Rey Mysterio, instant feud when he comes back.

And I don't know, but for some reason I see them doing at some point Taker vs Rey or Batista vs Rey, so I see him in the main event

Well I dont see him going straight into the main event but I do think He will start a fued with MVP again once He returns. The could have some good matches. Also I would like to see him back in ECW to tackle Kofi and Shelton and Morrison. WWE would need to book his return right and throw him into a fued straight away or He will once again get lost in the mix. Get him started with a fued with MVP imo.

I do like Rey, he is my favourite superstar ever. but He shouldnt come back fighting for the title, I think he could fued with Matt Hardy or MVP or someone else along those lines or even on Raw. But I think they will put him in the main event simply because SD needs to freshen up there main event picture, it will then be taker, Edge, batista big show and Rey. that will help sd...

I reeally hope not. They should use him to bring back the crusierweight title and to make people actually care about it.

I think after Rey returns to wrestling, he should be moved to the midcard, possibly just be put in the US title picture, THEN move him to the main event.

Agreed, although I wonder if the rumors about him going to RAW will come back around this year. I wouldn't mind him in the US title picture on SD! But it would be a heavenly day if he switches brands with that clown Jeff Hardy.

You see, I'm not a huge fan of Rey Mysterio to be honest. I don't know what it is, something about him annoys me. I think it's since he won the world title, because I cannot in any way, find him a believable champion.

Either way, I think he should come back to the midcard, I really don't want to see him back in the title picture straight away.

I agree with CMS actually, a Rey/Big Show feud sounds likely.

The one problem that I have with Rey is that fact that he won the World Heavyweight Championship, when he isn't a heavyweight.

As long as he is loved by the fans (mainly kids) and can entertain, what does it matter?

The angle was piss poor, but giving him the title wasn't a bad decision IMO.
