WWF Invasion: July 22nd, 2001

Location: Gund Arena, Cleveland, OH


The Alliance takes a page of the NWO playbook for the main event, by not revealing who the 4th man of their team will be against Team WWF but will history repeat itself? Elsewhere on the card, the Acolytes await the winners of the opening match between The Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and the Impact Players to see who their challengers will be for that night. AJ Styles makes his WWF PPV debut, representing the Alliance, to take on X-Pac; Rob Van Dam wins the Intercontinental title from Edge and Edge's tag partner Christian vows to get the title back from RVD at Invasion


Match Card & Highlights:

1. Opening Match: Hardcore Warfare Tag Team Match

WWF SummerSlam 2001

August 19, 2001 | Compaq Center, San Jose, CA


Summerslam is headlined by The Rock, having defeated Triple H to win the WWF title shortly after Invasion, defend his title against newly defected Alliance member Steve Austin. In the co-main event, the Hardyz defend against the Dudley Boyz and Rob Van Dam invokes his rematch clause against fellow Alliance member Raven, who upset him to win the Intercontinental title on the road to Summerslam. Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus vs Lita complete the main card with several post-show dark matches lined up as well.


Main Event: WWF Championship Match

The Rock (c) vs. Steve Austin


In a highly anticipated showdown, The Rock defends his WWF Championship against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a brutal, high-energy match. The crowd is on their feet as these two legends battle it out with signature moves and memorable moments, culminating in The Rock pinning Austin after a thunderous People's Elbow.




Co-Main Event: Tag Team Championship Match
