I had to just give this a 5. This was a boring show for the most part. I paid more attention to the chat.

WWE made a few mistakes with this one. Having Jinder Mahal retain was stupid and you can tell it jarred the crowd. They were really shocked and it is stupid to have a jobber win the belt and retain it over arguably the most popular and charismatic wrestler in the WWE. Dumb.

Lesnar shouldn't have retained, although I am just happy he pinned Roman to win and Roman did not win the belt. Strowman should have won. But at least they made Strowman look like even more like a monster. They really shouldn't have kept Joe out of most of the match.

WWE should have had Braun win and then take Lesnar off TV until the Royal Rumble. Then, have Lesnar come back and win the title back so he can face Roman at WrestleMania as being the only two guys to beat Taker at Mania. That was a GOLD story and they messed it up. Braun and Nakamura are easily the two biggest favorites on each brand and they had a chance to really build them up and build up upcoming matches and they screwed it up.

I mean, where does Lesnar go from here? Does he just lose to Roman? Seems weird since Lesnar basically treated him like nothing during this match.

I dunno, they really screwed things up. Last week, Tetsuya Naito won the G1 Climax, which made PERFECT sense. Having him go up against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom makes sense. Why is it that other promotions KNOW what matchups will sell PPV buys and Network subscriptions and WWE doesn't? Sigh.

It was actually the very first thing I check when I set up the thread. So something went wrong if it didn't work.

I didn't watch the whole thing but I got the gist of what happened. Considering this is one of the top 3 PPVs of the year, it felt disappointing.
I won't vote since I didn't watch it all but I would say that if I did vote, I would likely give it a 4. Any other mid/lower PPV would have been a 7.

I rated it a 7 mostly because us in chat turned into a family after the Shinsuke loss but other than that the raw tag match was good and that killer main event wow Braun wow tossing everything, Lesnar winning wasn't a shocker. other wise pretty bland

That's why. Because WWE relies more on Shock Value. That's the problem with WWE nowdays, they focus on shock value so much that they don't have a plan for after that. Let's look at purely the preshows for a second, Remember Hardyz returned at Mania? Look where they are at now. it's been 6 months...WWE brought them in wrestlemania for shock value and now WWE don't know what to do with them so they throw them in with Jason Jordan for no reason.

Talking about Jason Jordan, he's even worse. This is his first ppv match as Kurt Angle's son and he's on the preshow why? Because the point of the fact Jordan was Angle's son was for shock value and now they don't know. Same cases with Tye Dillinger, Dudley Boys when they returned, Jinder Mahal winning the title, Nakamura debuting, Corbin winning MITB, Tozawa winning the cruiserweight championship, Mojo Rawley winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, The Club debuting and even Balor returning. Oh and Sasha and Charlotte's ENTIRE RIVALRY back when that was happening.

Okay...so I refuse to get angry about this pay per view...I'm just going to stay
positive no matter what.

Okay...lets have a look...

~ And the WWE continue to push Kurt Angle's son by...have him take the pin in
a six man tag match on the SummerSlam kickoff show...

Ugh...

~ And Neville regains the Cruiserweight title...which is awesome...but why did he
loose it on RAW in the first place? Can anyone answer that for me?

Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone?

~ And the Usos defeat the New Day...Okay...

So just to point out the heels are 3-0 at this point at the "Biggest party of the
Summer" because nothing says party like the heels winning every match.

~ Cena defeats Corbin...because he's a moron with a lame theme song...Ugh...
and now Corbin's "push' has been completely flushed fully down the toilet.

Did Corbin bad mouth Roman or something?

I mean Cena had to win...the heels were 3-0 at this point...

So much for Cena loosing a match at SummerSlam for each member of the Nexus...

~ And Nattie finally, finally gets another title...ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF BLACK
HEARTS! Watching Nattie screaming at Naomi to tap while she had her locked in
the sharpshooter was awesome..and Carmella didn't cash in?

Wait...don't tell me the WWE are going to have her cash in during Sasha vs. Alexa...
I mean as much as I want Sasha to win the title and keep it...I have been
suggesting Carmella cash in on the RAW women's title to get away from Ellsworth.

Anyway...congratulations to Natalya...You truly deserve it! And I hope she keeps
thenglowing lights on the title just to remind Naomi who took the championship
from her.

Nice booking with Naomi WWE...the second real title defense she has (the first
being against Charlotte...a match Naomi didn't even win)...and she drops the title
cleanly.

Well done...way to book a champion WWE. I guess if a woman isn't white and
blonde you "forget" how to book them strongly.

Yeah...I said that...the proof is in the booking and basically since Wrestlemania 32
if you aren't Charlotte or Alexa...then your reigns as champion have been a joke.

I stand by my statement...the SmackDown women's title is cursed!

Well...Nattie is white, blonde and has large breasts...so may-be she'll do better...
Or may-be she'll just start farting all the time again. Nothing would surprise me
at this point.

~ SHUT THE FUCK UP ENZO!!!

~ And Cass wins...Good...can we move on now?!

~ And the WWE piles more dirt on Rusev with another loss. It doesn't really
matter WWE because Rusev has Lana at home...and you can't change that.

Okay...at this point its 5-2 to the heels...and the only faces who have won are
Cena & Orton.

Push that new younger talent WWE!

I'm not getting angry...I swear...but at 5-2...this looks good for Sasha to win the
title...and speaking of Sasha...ITS BOSS TIME!!! No Sasha don't hug Bayley!
Some of the loser might rub off on you!

~ SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!!

Finally...the first bright spot of wrestling booking for me this year since
Elimination Chamber. ALL SHALL OBEY THE BOSS!!!

I only hope she can keep the title for longer than 30 days this time...

And no sign of Carmella...so I guess she watched how bad Corbin fucked up on
Tuesday and decided to hold off on cashing in.

Smart booking WWE...Carmella is nowhere near ready yet.

~ Next up is Duck Dynasty vs. Body Paint Stripper with the winner being fed to the
Universal Champion...I'm just kidding of course...

Both these guys will eventually be fed to the Universal Champion...but thats okay...
because...SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!! SASHA WON!!!

She walked in Brooklyn with half a chance...
I watched her fight and then I watched her dance...
S-A-S-H-A Sasha Sa Sa Sa Sa Sasha...

Oh sorry...what was happening?

Oh yeah...Wyatt vs. Balor...and Balor wins...well...I guess that's only fair seeing
as Wyatt won on Monday...plus Wyatt has lost that many matches at this point it
doesn't even matter.

Also its 5-4 still to the heels...but the faces are coming back...

~ And 2/3 of the Shield claim the the tag team titles...which is cool...but who are
they going to feud with? I mean the Revival are out again...so what happens next?

~ And Styles retains...Thank God...

Its now 6-5 to the faces with SummerSlam coming home strong by keeping the feel
good party going!

~ And Jinder Mahal defeats Shinsuke Nakamura to the retain the WWE Championship...
and I have a feeling this booking decision may have pissed a lot of people off.

I mean I'm okay because Asuka retained and Natalya & Sasha both won their
respective matches and titles...but...you have Jinder pin Nakamura?

This feels like Vince telling the fans to go fuck themselves...

Well...its now 6-6 and we have that match I'm not going to watch...

~ And Lesnar retains by pinning Reigns...Okay...I mean I would have rather seen
any of the other three guys win the title and Lesnar piss off back to UFC...but...
that's just my opinion...and that doesn't make it right.

After Thoughts:
Well...the women's division dynamics have been swapped...with a face champion
on RAW and a heel champion on SmackDown...and one could argue that both are
the best in-ring workers on their particular brand.

For RAW...Sasha can now sit on top with Mickie, Dana & Bayley (?) as running buddies while she feuds with Alexa, Nia, Emma & Foxy.

On SmackDown...a host of great matches are now possible with Natalya able to feud with Naomi, Becky & Charlotte...while Carmella waits for the right moment (Wrestlemania 34?)
to strike. I honestly don't know what will happen with Tamina & Lana...seeing as I doubt
the WWE would book a heel vs. heel Natalya vs. Tamina feud.

All up...this SummerSlam seemed much better than last years...and while I feel
sorry for both Corbin & Nakamura...both Natalya & Sasha won...and that is what I
truly wanted to see.

I give this event 7 Emma's in a Bikini Out of 10.

Here is the thing, I know WHY they are doing it. But I question their idea that doing it is good for business nowadays. That victory was very jarring. It was sloppy, unexpected and stupid. I know that they rely on shock value, but the shock value really isn't doing shit for them lately and they have to realize that. WWE's best years come when they give the crowd someone to get behind and that person is MORE successful than not. They did this right with Hulk Hogan and they did it right with Steve Austin and the Rock (for the most part). Right now, everything is a mess. They don't have a top guy in either brand, unless you count Lesnar. But it's hard to count Lesnar because he's almost never around.

That is why I ask why. I know why they are doing it, but knowing the reason why doesn't explain what makes them think it is a good idea. Their shock value is BAD shock. If they want to shock us, they can in a better way.
