with both Rumbles, it felt like this show was going on for an eternity but I'd say it was really good PPV overall.
  • Becky vs Asuka was a great match but I don't know how to feel about Becky tapping out the way she did. I guess it's easy to shrug it off now that she won the Rumble but I still think it would have been better if Asuka just choked her out until she was unconscious. It would have put Asuka's Asuka Lock over and Becky for never giving up. I'm not one who likes to compare her to Stone Cold, but that Mania 13 finish could have worked quite well here.
  • Shane & Miz winning the Smackdown Tag Titles is cool with me. People are acting like the Bar had this incredible run with the titles and it's unheard of that Shane McMahon beat them for it. They've done a really good job with this "Best Tag Team in the World" thing while Sheamus and Cesaro have done nothing as of late. I love both of 'em but I totally get why they did this.
  • Ronda and Sasha had a pretty good match as well. There's not much to say about it really. Ronda winning by pinfall is awkward as hell lol.
  • now, the Women's Rumble was terrible. I don't think anyone can dispute that. There weren't any cool spots, stories being told or general excitement over who entered the match. Literally the only good thing about it was everything that had to do with Becky. Once that happened, it looked bright.. but before that, it was just a bunch of women stalling until the next person came out. And even though we didn't have any untrained oldies in the mix this year, everything still looked clumsy as fuck. @Mr. Roman Empire I'm guessing that's why the men went on last. The company knew they didn't have anything exciting for this match other than the ending.
  • Bryan vs Styles was good, the crowd was just burnt out from Becky winning and that took a lot away from it. Erick Rowan aligning himself with Bryan seems like a cool idea, interested to see where it leads.
  • I'm telling you, Brock loves working these types of matches. He sold perfectly for Balor and I actually really liked the explanation they gave as to why Brock started beating up Balor after the match. Finn hurt Brock bad and that upset him; so simple yet so effective. If Brock would have shrugged this victory off like any other, everything Balor did during the match would have meant nothing, but this way, it actually seemed like Balor got to him. Good stuff.
  • and the men's Rumble was great. I see people clowning on WWE again for being predictable and all that. Honestly, I couldn't care less, I'd rather have a predictable outcome I like than an unpredictable one that makes no sense. I'm really glad Seth won and the Nia stuff was insane, I would have never expected them to do that. Nia Jax is like the perfect hall pass for male on female violence in the E lol. She's big enough to take it and nobody likes her on top of that. But yea, great match all together, I don't think it was better than last year's but maybe I'd have to watch it again to judge on that.
I really enjoyed the PPV all together, even though it was like 6 hours long and you could feel every minute of it lol. The right people won, I'm assuming both Rumble winners have a better chance at winning the big one at Mania than last year and, besides the Women's Rumble, every match was good at least. 7/10

Here's my more in depth review:

Asuka vs Becky Lynch was really good, both people were over like gangbusters and you could tell. Trading submissions was really entertaining, especially when they stole each others' finishers. The finisher was really cool, and while some think Becky shouldn't have tapped, as the biggest Becky fan, come on it was a bridging Asuka Lock. That move was awesome, everyone should tap to that

The Smackdown tag team match was funny at best and awful at worst. Since I was in a group, I was able to just sit down and accept it in all its memey greatness. While this isn't on the level of Jinder Mahal winning the world title, Shane McMahon being a champion in 2019 is pretty funny. Almost as funny as Dad Miz only being proud of Miz NOW despite being both the ultimate IC Champion AND winning the main event of Wrestlemania a few years back

I didn't fully get into Rousey vs Banks. Rousey made Banks look great, so for a Banks fan this would be very good. As a Banks hater, I didn't care. I'm glad Sasha didn't botch any suicide dives like she always does, so this was more of an acceptable match and that's about it

The women's Rumble was absolutely awesome. It was filled with great spots, and they applied its three "save spots" extremely well. Those save spots all felt very natural, and Naomi saving herself just to have Mandy Rose push her off was very funny. Speaking of funny, that, Nikki Cross body checking Billie Kay, and freaking Hornswoggle turning up were super funny. On top of that, all the NXT entrants were so cool and made the match so much more entertaining. Boo hoo, no nostalgia acts, whatever. I'd much rather see people like Rhea Ripley and Candice LeRae than Kelly Kelly and Sable. Fuck that. These NXT women managed to put on much better spots than any legend could've and made names for themselves, setting themselves up for success in the future. Since I don't actively watch NXT or Mae Young Classics, being able to see some of these people in action was nice. Speaking of nice, got a bunch of really good butt shots. That's how you have sexy in modern WWE, not cringey "top falls off" scenes. Becky Lynch was in the same spot as Roman... two years ago? The one where he had a title match and entered 30 anyways. The way they pulled this one off was way more natural and I loved it. She had a great performance all night and she totally stole the show. The final showing between Charlotte and Becky, while I dislike the slow start with the injury angle and the outside stuff, was also really good. MotN, one of the best Rumbles I've seen in years, a lot of years

Unfortunately, Bryan and Styles had to follow. They had a nice slow technical battle, but since everyone was pumped for crazy anarchy, nobody wanted storytelling. Sadly this was a bathroom break. Erick Rowan forming a Vegan Cult was pretty cool, I've always found him underrated. I wonder if Harper will join. I know he's injured, but it's only minor, so I'm not sure

As much as I want to ding this because Brock won, for a moment they managed to convince me that Finn could do it. I feel like this was a good disappointment, a proper heel feeling, so I have to give this match good points.

The men's Rumble, while good, wasn't as good as the earlier one. It did have a bunch of good spots though, and seeing Jeff Jarrett was nice. Seeing Curt Hawkins getting an elimination was so cool, everyone knows I love me some Hawkins. Also, No Way Jose getting ZERO seconds? What? The ending was cool and all... But my absolute least favorite thing in all battle royals is when a person goes out of the ring. I absolutely hate it, it takes away the endurance and strategy. Would Rey Mysterio going bell to bell and lasting over an hour be nearly as good if he spent twenty minutes taking a nap outside safe from elimination? No, no it wouldn't. So why is Rollins being the iron man and winning cool when he slept for a good ten minutes? Braun Strowman did that too, which was also annoying as hell considering he's Braun and entered ridiculously late. Nia was great, kicking some ass and then getting her ass kicked. It was really fun to watch, and it was justified since Nia is a massive twat.

Rollins v Lesnar will be good, I just hope they build Seth better. The problem here is that the best thing about Brock's matches are the "Will he do it?" factor. This match doesn't have that, since of course he will, and if he doesn't it'll be awful. 2017 and 18 were awful for Seth, and while he had the post Mania spurt of awesome, the Ambrose feud somehow brought him back down. They have two months to make him the guy again, here's hoping they pull it off

8/10, would watch again

...I'm going to let the judgment of others cloud my judgment of this show a little bit lol

It was a weird order because I watched the men's rumble first, the women's rumble second, and Brock vs Finn earlier tonight and realized it would take me all week to finish this damn PPV, but I forget how when I was getting into wrestling, this was how I watched PPVs and that's cool and nostalgic but not for a five hour show.

The Men's royal rumble, watching it first helped a lot but it's everything I love and hate about WWE wrapped into one. A bunch of phenomenal wrestlers were in there executing a formula match to a predictable winner where the action was awesome but emotionless and nobody gets over. If I wasn't used to watching better companies maybe it would have worked better, but... I can't stand Jeff Jarrett as an old TNA fan but I actually popped, that was hella well done. Mustafa Ali unleashing his inner Hiromu Takahashi was incredible. The Kofi spots this year were pretty fun. Titus going under the ring after Hawkins made me LOL. The NXT surprises were absolutely epic and maybe it's because I'm more used to them but holy damn did they seem like a completely different level of talent than the regular roster (mostly made up of former NXT callups). I wish Pete Dunne eliminated someone. I'm really happy they didn't waste our time with nostalgia of better days best left in the past. Seth winning was fun and the finish with Braun was really well done.

The Women's Royal Rumble, had I watched it first... well lets explain what happened here. First of all props to Charlotte for her Tomohiro Ishii spot with Kairi, taking all them chops, roaring and smacking back. The Kofi spots this year were really fun, Kacy Catanzaro's couple of moments were freaking epic and she had an outstanding showing! Zelina getting run out from under the ring by random ass Hornswoggle made me LMAO, the NXT surprises were absolutely epic (even with the roster being mostly NXT callups). I wish Nikki Cross eliminated someone. I'm really happy they didn't waste our time with nostalgia of worse days best left in the past. Becky Lynch winning was glorious and I'm thrilled, the finish with Charlotte was really well done.

Lesnar and Balor absolutely freaking ruled. Brock Lesnar is the best and the worst worker WWE has under contract right now, he's really doing great and Balor came across like he had a hell of a gameplan going but couldn't overcome the beast. It was a quick sprint and I just loved it.

But this card looks amazing. There's still AJ STYLES VS DANIEL BRYAN. Ronda Rousey vs Sasha Banks, and Asuka vs Becky Lynch to go. Just look at those matches and I'm intimidated to watch it all plus the rest of Takeover like how

Couldn't they like save half this card for fast lane but thanks anyway

Very good show, the Royal Rumble has always been my favorite PPV of the year. My 3 negative points are just that I think they dragged on too long with the Women's Rumble, too many goofy "comedy" spots and Jeff Jarrett being the fucking ""BIG SURPRISE"" they were teasing, one of the most overrated boring wrestler of all time. Who was world champion only when he was doing the booking or was a friend of the booker. Anyway, good show overall, I liked the Nia spot near the end of the Rumble and he matches were very entertaining for the most part.

oh yeah I forgot another thing that was bad is Kurt Angle being eliminated a few minutes after his entrance. That was lame...

The men's Rumble was entertaining sure. But it was emotionless. It lacked Shawn Michaels wrestling for he's life trying to get a rematch with Taker. It lacked story. I don't see how anybody could of got invested in this match other then waiting to see who comes out next.

Also, why the fuck did both rumbles have so many comedy spots? Probably to replace the lack of storytelling.

Yeah I was never a fan of comedy in wrestling, I mean every once in a while its fun but if you overdo it, it starts to get annoying.

Universal Championship: Champion Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor

Lesnar won by pin fall

No, he made Finn tap out :( Was bummed tbh. Not that the result was ever in doubt but at least they could have had Finn leave with some dignity.

I gave it a 2/10.

Johnny Gargano was in the Rumble. +1 point
Seth Rollins won the rumble, and not Strowman. +1 point.

If I were to give it any more points, it would probably be +1 more after watching Hornyswoggle chase after Zelina Vega.

I was drinking, give me a break :p

But I agree with the sad face. Really, I believe WWE could have done so good to put the Demon against Lesnar. I mean, we don't have anyone else who has a true Undertaker type character other than the Demon. And because Balor is smaller, it has an ever stronger supernatural component. But still, I agree the tap out was crap.

Would have been far more interesting if Demon Finn had beat Brock, as it was nobody expected any different then the outcome we got. They could have gone down the Brock underestimating Finn story and switched the belt back before Mania.
