The way I see it. They don't necessarily all need characters. But they need direction. A wrestler with a weak gimmick/character can still get over and be loved by having direction to what he or she does.
Hogan here is the perfect example. The Hulk Hogan character is not the deepest or most fleshed out character of all time. But when discussing booking/stories Hogan always said "what's next?". He always wanted to know what he was working towards, what was happening after his current feud? what was on the horizon and such.
If Vince didn't change his mind all the time they could set up six month plans for most of the roster. We know where the IC title is now, but there's no clear destination for it in six months. Whereas down in NXT it was obvious when the Revival won the belts that they were building up American Alpha to eventually dethrone them.
What a weird group of callups lol. Corbin, Crews, Certified G's, Vaudevillians on SD? Not who we expected... Huh. At least they spared Bayley, but after the entire current roster jobbed on Sunday it was weird to see that ME.
I heard Vince had big 'Mania plans well in advance, but so many of his predicted cards got wrecked by injuries. Maybe that's why they book on the fly and throw crap against the wall every Monday night?

Shane running RAW was utterly pointless, he barely did anything
Y'know what really bothers me, how WWE still hasn't changed their opinion on Ryder, everyone called it how Ryder would lose already but it just pisses me off how he's gonna be thrown back to WWE superstars like this, and quicker than last time.
Apollo Crews debut was great, he fits Vince's critique and is a very talented Superstar
Roman put up a good promo but JBL defending him made me sick... the commentators should now just embrace no one likes Reigns. Everyone else in that ring following Roman got a major pop, that should tell you something.
WWE almost swerved us there with the Enzo and Cass debut... after the tables match we thought all hop was lost... until they come back from commercial, the dudleyz are still there and then we get a massive pop fro Enzo and Cass, so WWE did some things right.
I hope Zayn didn't really botch a landing and reinjure his shoulder there, because Cesaro was definitely ready to go there... so it should be a work there. Also Cesaro's entrance was the bomb with that tear away suit.
AJ Styles winning that great main event was awesome, maybe WWE is starting to turn Roman heel realizing he isn't working out?
Now why is it that we can't get these shows more fucking often?
Ι just finished watching RAW a little while ago and while it may not have been THE perfect show I'm still giving it a perfect 10/10 anyway simply for the fact that we finally got an almost full 3 hours of FUN. That's all we ask for every time and for once WWE delivered. Again, not the best show of all time in terms of stoyrlines but, fuck it, I'll take it any given time and needless to say, big thumbs up for the electric crowd. Those folks rocked
Idk, he was talking about how "No more opportunities for those without talent" or whateverthehell a few weeks ago, then booked that Fatal-4-Way and gave "the most underutilized performer" Cesaro the biggest opportunity of his career along with three other talented dudes
I didn't mind RAW too much this week. Popped for Zayn. Styles and Owens looking like they might end up in the WWE title picture. Disappointing that Wyatt is still doing nothing much feels like that boat has well and truly sailed. But there are a lot of positives I feel at the minute.
I enjoyed the post-Mania RAW episode more than Mania itself. 7/10
Lots of fun stuff happened and I may be overrating the show a bit by giving it a 7, but I don't care. I had fun watching the show which I haven't in a long time and the crowd helped (besides when they were chanting 'WE ARE AWESOME'. Sod off with that!)
Positives:
- Vince had me cracking up in the opening segment. Here's why: Everything in WWE is based on 50/50 booking, which led to one of the biggest LOL moments from last night's episode.
"Yo, son! If you win at WM, you get to control Monday Night RAW."
*Shane loses at WM*
"Fuck it! Here you go, son... Control RAW for the night, nonetheless."
So, basically, Taker vs Shane-O Mac was meaningless? Good to know. :shane:
- The New Day vs The League of Booty was solid. Okay, this is what SHOULD HAVE happened at Mania. The New Day beating The LoN clean, followed by a rematch at last night's RAW and then the LoN losing clean again. Because why not. NEW DAY ROCKS.
- Apollo Crews' debut. Wow, that was a really nice surprise. I didn't expect him on the main roster so soon.
- Reigns' promo was good (and that KO/Zayn/Styles/Y2J segment in genereal was good). But Reigns, damn! He was cocky and straight to the point. No BS, just badassery. 'I'm not a bad guy. I'm not a good guy. I'm THE guy.' He definitely came off as a heel. Good stuff.
- The Miz vs Ryder was okay. Another LOLOLOLOLOL moment of the night: Ryder losing the title 24 hours later. Can't say I'm surprised. No worries, he'll regain it on SmackDown. LOL
- The Vaudevillains will make their debut on SmackDown. Well, there's my reason to tune in to SmackDown.
- The debut of Enzo & Cass!
- Cesaro is back, baybay! Marked out. Welcome back, Swiss Superman. Oh, how I've missed you! Also, tearaway suit FTW!
- AJ Styles vs Y2J vs Cesaro vs KO was a great ME. Cesaro winning would've been perfect, but the other outcome was phenomenal. So, that's why AJ lost at WM? Something good had better come out of this!
Negatives:
- Sasha vs Summer.
- Corbin vs Ziggler.
- That women's title presentation segment went on for too long. When Charlotte has a mic in her hands, time doesn't exactly fly by. The best part was when all women started walking away from Charlotte, though.
- The Usos vs The Dudleyz. Whatever happened to "Our legacy won't be defined by a piece of furniture".
Neutral:
- The Wyatts attacking The LoN. Was that a face turn for the Wyatts? Or was it like "Hey, we're just gonna start attacking everyone because we're directionless and have no idea what to do anymore". LOL
