also, titles aren't supposed to be defended every week. For example, since winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in June, Kenny Omega has had 3 defenses. It doesn't really hurt the title, nor does it hurt the person holding the title.
Reigns is also on television every week, while some people probably forgot that Brock was still around when he was champion, so I don't really get the comparison here
