Cody vs Sammy Guevara.. 1st observation.. Brandi is smoking hot. This was a very fun match.. some really good spots throughout. Great match to start the show with.

The Jericho attack on Cody was way too long.. it lost my attention quickly.

Great to see JR and Tony Schiavone.. blast from the past.

MJF vs Brandon Cutler... first off.. I love MJF.. he has great mic skills and is a perfect heel. This match was actually very good as well.. also some very good spots. Cutler showed some real skill and the commentators were making me laugh throughout.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes!! Loved seeing them in the crowd.. so awesome!

Adam Page vs PAC... awesome match.. good to see PAC (He's still Neville to me dammit!) doing his thing.. exciting match with great spots even if it was a little slower paced than you would have thought.

Nyla Rose vs Riho.. Riho is very attractive.. very, very attractive.. because of that I watched the entire match and enjoyed every second of it... had some great spots by Riho.. Rose looked very slow and is not really the kind of female wrestler that I enjoy watching. Riho winning made me smile.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks vs Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz... I still think Jericho looks extremely stiff.. nowhere near as fluid as he used to be. This was a fantastic match though.. The Young Bucks are great.. Santana and Ortiz are very good and remind me a whole lot of The Usos. Moxley attacking Omega and it somehow not being a DQ confused me... but anyway.. the glass coffee table spot was insane. The aftermatch action was enjoyable to watch and Jake Hager (Jack Swagger, DAMMIT!) coming out was a very good surprise.. I always thought he was held back in WWE.

This debut episode was good enough to actually be a PPV.. every match was great.. very little talking, a lot of action.

Great debut episode for AEW. Cody and Sammy was a great opener, Cody winning was obvious and Chris Jericho's attack afterwards was very necessary.

I'm not sure why Riho would beat Nyla Rose, but it was still a great match.. Nyla should have crushed her though.. I mean, look at her.

It's always great seeing Kevin Smith, even though that segment was a bit awkward.

The main-event was fun, lots of shit going on like you can normally expect in a 6 man tag.. Jake Hager's debut was met with mixed reaction.. It seems like it could be a faction with Jericho, LAX, Guevara and Hager.

Overall it was a really good show. I just hope they whoop NXT in the ratings.

I give it a 9/9. I regret not getting to see it live but I had been up since midnight and just couldn't make it.

I have to say that Chris Jericho never ceases to surprise me. He looks pretty out of shape and definitely has more mass than he has ever had. He looks very inflexible but he doesn't seem as stiff when he wrestles as he looks.

As for the show, I personally enjoyed the women's title match the most. I love a David vs Goliath match and was happy to see Riho get the belt.

It's always weird watching Sammy Guevara wrestle. He looks like he should be wrestling in Twink porn or something. He needs a scar or something so he can look a little older.

All in all, a great debut episode.

I am sure Mr. Roman Empire would have told us that it sucks... but for some reason I haven't seen him around lately...

Oh man, I am prepared for this.

Cody v Sammy Guevara...I was not a fan of this match and thought it was meh. The winner was obvious as Cody got in more offense then Sammy and it was heavily one-sided. This match really reminded of Triple H's matches truth be told, and that isn't a good thing to say.

Jericho attacking Cody was useless and not really needed and seemed like something WWE would have done

MJF v Brandon Cutler...I like MJF and I think he is a great heel, but I realized last night he is just Eli Drake, Jericho, and The Miz put in one, which is fine, but it is obvious. The match overall was good, but you could skip it and miss nothing.

Adam Page v PAC...This was one of the matches I wanted to see and overall it was good even though I think this should have been on PPV instead. I can tell though that PAC had to slow down his style of wrestling just so Page could keep up, but overall it was good.

Nyla Rose vs Riho...So this match I had to eat crow as they say because I kept saying Nyla was going to win, but I am glad Riho. Even though Nyla still looks stiff and can't move right the match itself was decent. It could have been better, and it would have if it was anyone other than Nyla.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks vs Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz...Oh boy, where I do begin with this match. Jericho still looks stiff. The match was decent, but the main thing was how was the match not ended due to DQ. I mean, Jon came in an attacked Kenny right in front of the ref and no DQ...and the match continued...that was just dumb and made me not really care for the rest of the match. Overall it was okay.

The huge spot at the end was okay and seeing Jack was pretty cool, but overall it just seems like the same thing WWE would have done. Overall, I give AEW Dynamite's first show a 6/10

This leans more towards a 9 but since no-one made the first show this good it’s fair for me to give it +1. Cody vs Guevara was a 5 star match, both in-ring and the story behind it. Best match of a weekly show I’ve seen in the last 5 years.
Riho’s striking ruined the “women’s” title match in which she was the only woman. It was still a pretty good match but down right fakest strikes I’ve seen in the bussines, her grappling and everything else was on point. I’m glad she won because it’s not right to promote a transgender “woman” as a champion, kids are watching ffs. But completely excluding that, Nyla is a better wrestler.
Pac vs Hangman was again an awesome show with suitable ending. Pac even looked overall better than Page, his performance was flawless. Both are visibly in their prime and it wouldn’t be bad to continue on with that feud.
Main event didn’t dissapoint at all. It was quite good wrestling and frequent interferences actually made it better. It reminded me of some WCW matches even though All Elite made that concept look better in this one. I was thrilled to see Hager back in wrestling, hope Khan uses him right.

I am assuming you mean that other first episodes of shows such as Raw, Smackdown, Impact and Nitro were done as good. If that is what you mean, I completely agree.

I haven't been around these parts for quite some time now.
I gave up putting myself through a few hours of tv I couldn't stand each week.. just wasn't worth it for me anymore.

I have been waiting for dynamite to hit tv to reignite the spark.. and it did just that.
I wasn't able to watch it live last night so I had to find a crappy version on YT but it was worth it to be able to see it before I go to work tonight and get everything spoiled lol. Its airing on tv here but on TSN2 which is the only 1 of 5 I don't get. Of course. I'll be calling cable company before next week so I can record it while I'm at work lol.

Awesome debut episode and it lived up to the hype for me. Every match was great. The Jay and silent bob bit was a bit awkward but whatever lol a little bit of movie promo never hurt, and hey i was so happy to see chris van vliet on the show

The glass table spot was cool.
The beat down at the end and the Hager debut was good.

All in all I gave it a 9. I'd love to give it a 10 but idk if I can. It was great overall.

Can't wait for next Wednesday!

I am happy to hear that, but I am also happy to hear that you GET IT. You understand the point of AEW and that is great.

This show was perfectly average for me. Which is not good, considering all the hype and importance of this first show. The setup they have looks pretty good, very 1999 Nitro. I have very mixed feelings about the commentary. While Tony is still a god, and Excaliber and JR are good too, I feel like it's super unnecessary and to an extent detrimental to have 3 guys doing play-by-play who all have similar styles. They seemed to be tripping over each other all night trying to state facts and call the action, and I feel like if they keep this team going forward, they'll really have to learn to benefit from the "less is more" adage. Or perhaps they can either drop one of the guys, or somehow make one of them fully color. The camera work has slightly improved from their last show I watched, but that's not saying hardly anything at all.

The wrestling was all good bordering on great, with the exception of course being Cody. Sammy did look great in that match, though, so obviously I will give him a little credit for that. Pac vs Hangman was probably my match of the night, the women's match was real good, and overall pretty good wrestling top to bottom.

The story telling, which is supposed to be one of their big things or whatever, was pretty standard and quite frankly boring. What's given to us as an alternative wrestling show to the WWE actually somehow felt more like a WWE show than the typical Smackdown does. Why would the "rookie" do the post match "you earned my respect by beating me spot"? One could assume it's because Sammy's supposed to be super cocky, but the commentators never touched on it and Y2Dadbod cut that part short before we could find out. Speaking of Y2Juggalo, the beatdown which, as was already criticized by others above, went about 20 minutes too long xD, was completely pointless and sloppily done. There was absolutely no need for the picture-in-picture for that, as it made it feel about 10 times longer than it already did. Also, insert joke about Jericho losing his belt again, cuz he forgot to grab it when he was walking toward the back, which was odd because at the top of the ramp he should have been holding it up as he was bragging about being the champion.

The awkward and equally unnecessary "celebrity" involvement on the show was lame at best. I'm not really sure why SCU needed to have a video promo leading into a live promo, I felt like they easily could've just accomplished the same thing all in the live promo, and it would have been better because the fans could've reacted to it. And how do you have a mid-match beatdown AND a post-match beatdown within the same match, and both are basically unrelated? Unless I missed the part where Mox and Jeribore are best friends or something. The random attacks (all involving ex-WWE guys, btw ;)) were just on overkill mode tonight, and really overshadowed two of the most important matches on the show.

So yeah, overall the show was just average. Call me overly-critical, a pessimist, a hater, or whatever else you may, but no one can say I'm not being objective with my opinions for the most part. A big part of why people have been wanting an alternative to the WWE in the first place is because of poor booking and too much non-wrestling nonsense on the shows, most of the wrestling is generally pretty good. AEW gave us... well, more of exactly the same. Hopefully it gets better than this going forward
