I'm sympathetic for him because it sounds like it's something he struggled with his entire life.
It's very sad for the children that their dad was selfish. I don't buy drug addiction or alcoholism as a disease. There's plenty of people willing to help but if you don't care enough to help yourself then I don't care.

I've dealt with it plenty. It's all about choices. If someone wants to make bad choices and continue to make them, why should everyone else feel bad?
