As to the accuracy of the bible, let me share something with you that I have always found kinda funny and poignant at the same time. I dunno if this was a commercial or not, I think it was but anyway.
These two Buddhist monks were down in an old library poring over some old texts when all of a sudden one of the monks drops his head into his hands and starts sobbing. The other monk looks over at him and asks what's wrong. The sobbing monk looks up at the other one with tears in his eyes and says; "It says celebrate..."
The point here is that the bible and every other so called ancient text suffers from what I call "broken telephone syndrome", you remember that old game right? You start off by saying one thing to a person and they repeat it over and over again as the line goes in a circle and eventually reaches you. Whether its because someone is being an asshole, or because they misheard when what you said comes back to you it will be far different that what you initially said, and such is the problem with such texts.
