The guy hung with The Rock, Cena (serious version), Taker, H, Nash and countless other great workers too. In fact he excelled them.

Most of Punk's promos are redundant, they drag on and on and on. Fucking boring. IMO of course.
He can have good/great matches, I'll give him that.. but at the same time, I've never had a 'mark out' moment with Punk. Never.

I'll admit that I can get carried away, and try to annoy the marks at times. He's not the worst ever or anything like (Chavo), but honestly, he just doesn't do much for me. I usually end up skipping his promos, and only watch his matches when it's against someone I like.

I'll agree with you that he's been boring and repetitive lately, the respect thing was obnoxious, but if he's returning baby that should be gone. If you found Punk entertaining before this Punk deserves a chance.

How awesome are all the indy stars looking now? Punk, Bryan, Shield, etc. (Lets just forget that whole Cesaro thing). Seems like they're really wanting to appeal to us with these guys, so having Punk return with a character we like seems possible.

Personally, I'd love to see him return for the night, cleanly lose, and leave for awhile again. Build up the inevitable redemption story, one that isn't forced like Cena's last year.

I hadn't actually thought of him leaving again immediately afterwards but it's a neat idea. I could see Punk displeased with how something goes (win or lose) and the start of his separation from Heyman begins with him walking out on Heyman again on Raw, this time in anger/frustration. (If Axel accidentally costs him the match at Payback, he could say to Heyman that it seems he has his hands full with one guy already so he thinks he'll take some more time off to let Heyman discover that Axel is actually a loser before he returns again.) Over the remaining time that Punk is off, Heyman starts to gravitate more and more towards Curtis Axel as his #1 guy though (he goes on an impressive streak) and this sets up the seeds for the official split when Punk returns to television.

I'm really liking this story line because there's a handful of different ways it could go, especially with a possibility of a Brock/Punk feud growing from it somehow.

And to Adam568; Where is the source for Brock not wanting to fight Punk? All I could find was the link below and it's possible Punk is talking in character about it being bad for Brock: https://www.facebook.com/notes/worl...esnar-doesnt-want-to-fight-me/556114511093766

I don't see why it would be horrible for Brock when Punk has been in matches with Rock, Cena, Triple H and Undertaker. If Lesnar only wants to work with top tier talent, then I'm afraid that a Cena rematch or a bout with Undertaker at Wrestlemania are the only matches left for him, and those aren't gonna tide him over till 2015.

Since Punk's promo skills have been brought up, I'll just chime in with my two cents as I hardly ever get to post about wrestling on here since I don't watch anymore (except PPVs). As usual I end up in the minority as I have always preferred face Punk to heel Punk. They're way too repetitive and pretty much weak after weak it's the same old same old with a few exceptions here and there (those are normally incredible mind you, I still think when Punk is on he's better than anyone but it doesn't happen consistently), his Respect gimmick was the worst offender but it's not the first time. I honestly thought after maybe a week or so his SES gimmick got way too repetitive. And I understand why they do it, I understand the intent but the effect is always just making me feel like they're just wasting my time and I stop watching. There was no point for me to watch a promo I essentially already watch and since Jericho was also doing this at the time and those two were the only reasons I was watching wrestling, I took another break. Granted, Punk could've improved on a consistent basis but I still saw several afterwards that were essentially what I just watched but I also admittedly watched several really good ones afterwards so I don't know but from what I saw, individual it worked but on a whole it didn't for me.

I didn't feel this with his face work even his one during his title reign which apparently was hated on here but I digress. The reason I liked his face work there better than his heel work during the title reign is because, and this is the best way I can describe it, with his face work his promos always used his catchphrase(s) but his heel work the catchphrases were his promo. If that doesn't make sense, I got nothing else. I don't want to ramble about this since I have so much in the past. He's definitely best as a tweener though.
