Believe it or not, there is already talk of having CM Punk win the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble and challenge for the WWE Title at WrestleMania XXX. Punk's dream has always been to close out WrestleMania and the seeds may have been planted on Monday's RAW in the promo with Paul Heyman.

Of course it is way too early for them to have decided this and it does come from the dirt sheets so it's most likely completely made up...............but..

Personally i think Punk and Cena had the match of the year earlier this year and it took place on Raw, I can only imagine what those 2 could do if given say 35-45 minutes on the grandest stage of them all.... I know there are plenty of Punk haters on here but I don't think even they can deny the chemistry those 2 have in the ring..... I think it would be nice to have the main event feature 2 full timers, especially the 2 faces of the company..... I know where this thread is gonna go (as all Punk threads do) but I still think it's worthy of conversation and for me it's never too early to start thinking about possible Mania matches

Punk is just an easy name to throw out first and it'll happen every single year until he finally wins the damn thing given that's one of only a very few accomplishments he hasn't achieved yet.

Typical BS story. Oh hmm they said this and well nobody will remember the report by then and we can always say nothing confirmed but if we're right we look like gods.

Rumble winner usually curtain jerks at Mania anyway.

If they don't have Cena/Taker next year I'm gonna be PISSED. Realistically, nobody is gonna buy Mania to see a CM Punk match, besides, they have nobody to line him up against unless they hire some former legend ie/ Austin.

I will be pissed as well if it doesn't happen. Surely WWE realises that for this major milestone they have to book this match.

Punk is definitely a contender for the Rumble but it is too hard to predict the winner this far out, plus as you pointed out the Rumble winner rarely mainevents WM.

Just them taking obvious things such as the promo with Heyman and the fact that it is one of the things he has yet to do in his WWE career and calling it a report. I do however think he does have a legit shot at it given he is retiring sooner rather than later and this and main eventing mania are two things left for his career resume. I'd be extremely happy for him if both of those things happen for him in 2014.

Considering all the work he's done in his wrestling career, I'd say he deserves both honestly. Mind you, I wouldn't mind a Taker/Cena match, just so long as Taker wins it.

Only way Punk ever main events WrestleMania now is if he gets the match with Austin and it's part of the lure to bring him back.

I too want to see Cena/Taker but I'd also be cool with Taker/Brock and that would open up Cena for Punk (unless of course they can get Austin to work Mania in which case Punk/Austin is a must)... I know we've seen the match several times over, but each one has delivered and had a different feel to it... i'm sure they could pull off something completely new and better in the main event at Mania.... No way to know where they will go with any of the top guys heading into Mania but, like I said before, I personally want to see 2 full timers headline the show and who better than Punk/Cena

Do we really need another Punk/Cena match? Don't get me wrong it has been a solid series but they will never top their 2011 classic, and it is time for both to move on. Even if you have Cena/Taker it doesn't have to main event. Maybe they can have Punk/Lesnar for the title.

Doubt Punk/Lesnar is going to wait for Mania, more likely for Summslam, long builds were ruined by jerkoffs who bitched about the year long build for Cena/Rock.

Lesnar/Rock is what we've been hearing. If they can get Austin (who isn't interested in wrestling anymore) thats the only viable match for Punk, if not, he isn't getting nothing of value imo.

Eh...he's already spent 90% of the past 2 years in the WWE Title scene and faced Cena about 200 times during that stretch. Go with something fresh WWE.

I would like to see Punk/Austin one day, but only providing Austin is in good enough shape, the match and feud is booked to Punk's favour and it happens sooner rather than later.

I am not really keen on Austin returning. No need to risk his health just for one more match an entire decade after his last match. He has an incredibly legacy and another WM match isn't going to add anything to it.

I can definitely see Punk staying away from the title for the next few months due to his feud with Brock Lesnar, then Punk wins the Rumble, then finally main events Wrestlemania and wins back the WWE title.
