Heracross like 10 level lowers than other mons is still so damn powerful. I got one with an Attack boosting nature and gave it a Scarf (that I got from Mom) and it just destroys everything. lol.

Maybe consider some of these Pokemon?

Doduo/Dodrio (it is a monster with stab physical Tri-Attack) or Fearow
Pikachu or Jolteon
Nidoking or Nidoqueen
Mr. Mime (get it by catching an Abra and trading it to a trainer on Route 2 after going through Digglett Cave)
Hitmonlee ([HASHTAG]#SuperKickParty[/HASHTAG])
Ninetales or Magmar (the butt head)
Snorlax

But in Gen 1 there are a lot of Pokemon who are good or fun to use

Ninetails is a staple of any Gen 1 team I build, so that's gonna be there for sure. I was going back and forth between Nidoking or Nidoqueen, I remember Nidoqueen being super tanky but Megahorn is a thing so Nidoking could win out there. There are so many good Gen 1 Pokemon.

In Leaf Green Nidoran female is more common but you can trade a nidoran female for a nidoran male.

Since @Black Wizard has me thinking about it, I am going to save over my lost Nuzlocke and playthrough Pokemon FireRed again. I am thinking this can be my team.

As for the last one....not sure.

I could either get a bulky normal type, or maybe a different mon.

Like Scyther is expensive in the game corner, but is very unique to an playthrough.

It has good speed and Special Attack. It's pretty solid. I never liked Mr. Mime though.

The reason why in FireRed/Leaf green it is strong is this.

First: it is only obtained through trade, so it levels up faster.
Second: When obtained, it has Subsitute, which goes great with calm mind.
Third: Even if you don't use it for Sub + calm mind, it has access to reflect and light screen which are great support moves along with Baton Pass.
Fourth: It also has access to Psychic, Thunderbolt, Magical Leaf and those moves come in handy with the large amount of poison, and water types in Kanto.

Mr Mime is creepy as hell....but can be strong if used right.
