Opinion: Gunther's opponent is not a SummerSlam worthy world title match

That sounds like a boring story.

Of course the crowd would be more into Gunther winning, because pretty much everyone knows he's a big deal and people has seen outstanding stuff from him already, while Priest is, at most, a transitional Champion.

...also consider that alignments aren't what they were used to be until the 2010s (and that is a good thing) ... Peeps who are still discarding any non-strict Face/Heel matches, stories and feuds within a blink of an eye are missing the bus, that drives forwards in an always evolving business.

Also Drew v Punk doesn't need the title. It's not about the title at the end of the day.

It would be better if it was Drew vs Punk for the title, I think it's not good if I'm considering using a WHC match as a bathroom break.

It's more interesting than the match for the belt, I don't think that's a good thing, I'll just use Priest vs Gunther as a bathroom break. That title already seemed less important before, it's like they're not even trying.

I'm not trolling, I'm 100 percent serious, I'm beyond disappointed they're going with Priest vs Gunther for the WHC at a major PPV. I almost got flashbacks to Mahal vs Nakamura.

Gunther is 99% winning the title at SummerSlam so what in the hell is the point of putting the title on Rollins for a month? There's no backstory between the two so the build would be exactly the same (boring story in your words) as it would be Priest/Gunther.

Priest has said time and time again that he doesn't want people getting involved in his business yet Finn continues to do so and even Punk at MITB. He's pretty much trying to do things the right way like a face would do and will likely go full blowjnface in the next few months.

Yeah, Damien is definitely leaning towards face, I mean hey sometimes good people are friends with shitty people, it happens so him being with The Judgement Day doesn’t change any of that tbh.

I understand that you want something different, and I respect that opinion, but said Dale mentioned above, the only thing that would really change if it was Seth and not Damien is a full blown already cemented baby face vs a heel instead of someone who’s gonna be a face very soon vs a heel, there’s no story there either way you went.

Now you could argue that someone with a story built in with Damien or Rollins should’ve won KOTR, thus setting it up where they should’ve won to have the match, and that would be a fair and valid argument. If Finn had won KOTR, yes that would be a way better story. 100%. But Gunther will make a good champion and I look forward to the reign.

I don't think they will but they could always say fuck it and make it Seth/Priest/Gunther for SummerSlam because of that blown referee call. Nothing has to change in regards to who goes over but it would add in Seth to make it more main event worthy, piss Gunther off and give him an extra hurdle to climb etc.
