Opinion: Gunther's opponent is not a SummerSlam worthy world title match

Lets list why Priest/Gunther works for SummerSlam.

1. Priest is in the midst of a face turn so it isn't really heel/heel.
2. Gunther was winning the Championship all along they weren't gonna have Priest drop it only to have that person drop it right to Gunther.
3. Drew/Punk being for the Championship would be detrimental to not only the feud, btu the championship. These guys absolutely despise each other so rules will be damned. Put the title on the line and all of a sudden the guys will show that they don't care about the championship making the relatively new championship devalued.
4. SummerSlam is gonna be a super-stacked card. Cody/Solo is the top match so the WHC bout isn't gonna Main Event.
5. They've already started building it and the bout will undoubtedly be a good one.

Another thing to consider is Seth wasn't beaten in his title match. I would presume from that he's being protected to eventually win the title back at a later date and they don't want him losing it to Gunther a month later. I also believe the intention might be to finally do the match with Punk at next year's WrestleMania.

Gunther is 99% winning the title at SummerSlam so what in the hell is the point of putting the title on Rollins for a month? There's no backstory between the two so the build would be exactly the same (boring story in your words) as it would be Priest/Gunther.

Priest has said time and time again that he doesn't want people getting involved in his business yet Finn continues to do so and even Punk at MITB. He's pretty much trying to do things the right way like a face would do and will likely go full blowjnface in the next few months.

My guess is Punk stills wants to main event Mania and WWE wants to wait to do the title match with Punk there.

As I said in my previous post they clearly protected Seth by having Drew take the pin. Seth is protected and also mad at Punk, presumably.

I assume he means at SummerSlam when he's going to be ready, but I agree that match doesn't need the title. There's heat and payback there.

Honestly, I believe it would be a boost for that world title, Rollins tried his best but it's been kinda viewed as the "Roman is part time and has the other title, here's this one" title. I think it would help establish credibility to the title to have Punk and Drew fight for it.

I don’t know if it’s been said but even though Priest won last night I can still see him being kicked out of Judgment Day soon after what’s been going on between him and Balor. He’s already in the middle of a face turn and that’ll cement it with him going into Summerslam to face Gunther.

This is what I said. I think this is the end of his involvement with JD. Either they cost him at SS against Gunther or he's kicked out after.
