Ahh, I gotcha. So between the past few years of it being a sucky PPV and WWE's lackluster shows lately, there's little hope for it being good this year, right?

Recently they've been resting on their laurels with the "big summer storyline" to sell the PPV and not caring about the undercard at all (what a shock). Last year, you had Triple H sticking his big nose in Cena vs Punk, Orton vs Christian #410, Sheamus vs Mark Henry with little build, Barrett vs Bryan with no build, one of the most hyped Divas' matches in a long time (but was still a Divas' match), a random, unannounced tag match, a Cee Lo Green concert, and a little over an hour and a half of wrestling.

2010's had to have been the worst of all time, there was the Team Nexus vs Team WWE, the Straight Edge Society getting buried by Big Show, Melina vs Alicia Fox (lol), Orton and Sheamus fighting to a DQ, Nexus ruining Dolph vs Kofi, and Kane vs Mysterio. Terrible. 2009's was okay due to Hardy vs Punk and Rey vs Ziggler (Cena vs Orton can gtfo), but if you're a DX mark you'd probably like that one better than I did.

So history says that PPV is going to suck, but how relevant is that this year? We'll see what happens.

I say 2010 Punk was the best of all. I was a fan ever since I saw his Colt Cabana feud and the end really but mainly WWE.

Wow, it sounds like they weren't even trying. Borderline surprising since they seem to beef it up to be the biggest and best event of the summer. Go figure. I'm neutral with DX -- they're the type that are "take it or leave it" for me, just don't care much one way or another. Hardy vs. Punk would have been interesting, so I can see how that would have helped make the 2009 PPV better, and I'm sure Rey vs. Ziggler was a good match. Sad that they haven't tried to make it a good PPV since then.

I was considering actually purchasing the PPV since I haven't ordered any lately, but with all the talk surrounding it (mostly negative) and knowing how WWE has been screwing things up lately, I'm hesitant to get it.

Appearance-wise, or wrestling-wise?

As far as wrestling goes, I've seen some of his early ROH work and enjoyed those. Also liked his matches I saw in 2010, just much prefer the way he looks now (from the aesthetic value standpoint, not as a wrestler) compared to how he looks then.

I've got to say, 2010 was by far the worst Summerslam ever! Last year's Summerslam wasn't as bad and was more better but still didn't completely live up to it's potential besides the WHC and the WWE championship match.

This year Summerslam is receiving extra attention from WWE chairman because it is the historic 25th anniversary of SS. Also according to the latest news SS is receiving huge positive responses in terms of advanced bookings and all other things like that. Further more SS is also the most ''googled'' term of this week . So no matter what anybody says or thinks SS 25 will be HUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEEEE!! Not because it is just a PPV but because it is the biggest PPV of all times!!!!!

Oh yeah, didn't think about it being the twenty-fifth anniversary of it. Maybe that's why they're hyping it as the biggest event of the summer.

Anyway, I was somewhat looking forward to the WWE title match, but now with Big Show being thrown into the mix and it becoming a triple threat match, I'm just "meh" about it. Really wasn't pleased with that announcement.

With me, it's kind of like football and other similar sports -- whether I think they stand a chance of winning or not, I feel bad "betting" against my team.

Being a Punk fan, I'll say for the most part I think he's going to win, but really I could see it going any way at this point. There's no telling what WWE has in mind or what they'll have up their sleeves by the time it rolls around, because don't they sometimes change their minds at the last minute?

They've been hyping Summerslam as the biggest event of the summer the last few years as well.

Ugh... that being the case and it being proven to have sucked over the last few years, I won't hold out hope for this one then.

It's usually at L.A right? Are the crowds usually any good there? Just hoping they cheer Punk anyway.

I hope so too.
