The only sport where I put a ton of stock into rings is basketball, because it is the easiest sport for a superstar to dominate.

Barry Bonds, Don Mattingly, McCovey.. list goes on and on. Such a Blue stance to take.

I guess Roy Halladay isn't elite either?

The list goes on and on. I'm sure we could ramble a few more off but if he doesn't get our point... well fuck it haha

I guess it's understandable since he is a Blue yankees fan and thinks buying WS rings is easy.

I've always had this joke that the A's are the Yankees minor league farm system. It's so pathetic how they can get any free agent they want.

Nearsighted smurfs. Im pretty sure if your team had the amount of cash that the Yankees did they would do the same exact thing.

a world series ring

I hope that was a joke.

This isn't basketball where one or two guys can carry an entire team.

Lol. Yanks really are an evil empire, but fuck it, been a fan since I was like 8 when I started playing baseball, and I'll be a fan fo' lyfe.
I can see why they're so hated though :haha:

Assuming makes an ass out of you and me... Mostly you because my favorite team is the mets and they have around the same payroll maybe 30 million less and ever since the new GM came (Billy Beane assistant) They have been building from within and letting guys like delgado, beltran, reyes, wagner, glavine, etc. go and are building from the farm. So they embraced the sabermetrics method and they have a boatload of talent in the minors and will be good in a few years. The mets tried to be the yankees and buy players but the problem is you over pay for guys like Johan and Jason Bay and end up with a payroll of 50 million to a whole team and 100 million to two players at the end of their career. Now when those contracts expire the mets payrolls will be probably 10 -20 million more than the a's which is still 80 million less than the yankees so.... Your point is mute because not every Big market team plays it like the yankees.

My reaction to game 1:

I had no expectation to win game 1 in Detroit against Verlander. Coco's lead off HR had me hyped, but besides that our lineup was pathetic. It sounded (was only able to listen on the radio) like the ump was stretching the strike zone, and when you have Verlander with an expanded zone... you see the results. 11 fucking Ks and only 3 hits over 7 strong. I was disappointed that we weren't able to mount anything against their suspect bullpen.. Apparently Moss nearly tied it up in the 8th with a pretty hard hit ball to right field, but it was just short and died on the track. Parker pitched pretty well for the most part besides some control issues in the 3rd/4th.. he just isn't in Verlander's league.

Hopefully we can steal game 2 in the morning because if not we are in trouble. Having to win 3 straight, including game 5 against Verlander, doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in trying to do.

Rooting for the A's. Wasn't the best game but they did win, so good for them.

Verlander is just in a league of his own as far as pitching goes. The fact their rookie kept them in the game was promising. If they can get that kind of pitching performance tomorrow i suspect a w.

I have a lot of confidence in Milone. I also love Anderson who will pitch in game 3. Hopefully we win the next 3 because I want no part of Verlander in game 5.
